1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. For me, it was three years between discovering BJDs and ordering my first. I'm kind of indecisive that way. :P

Can't answer the second question accurately, though, because he still hasn't arrived. ;)

    2. I bought my first doll about a year after I discovered them. I joined DOA a few days after I paid for him. I tried to be as active as I could while I waited.

    3. It was maybe two year after I found out about BJDs did i buy one. However, if i had the money sooner then that I would of most likely bought my Shizan A LOT sooner :sweat

    4. About a year.

@Hiru-sama - love your doll picture at the bottom of your post.

    5. haha, at first I saw a bjd I just thought : " woah!! such beautiful things do exsist??"
and then I saw the price... and decided never to buy one^^....a year later I saw my girl...and I fell in love :D

    6. Hmm, early 2000's was when I fist came across BJDs - when it was all about Volks and maybe a few other companies. I was interested in the customising options and the flexibility the creativity but it took until the Zaolls came out until I actually wanted a doll of my own. So...at least 6 years!

My first was ordered in December 09 and I joined DoA around the same time. I've just ordered my second doll now. And it took me 4 months of being aware of him and waiting for owner pics to decide I wanted him - I have serious doll-commitment issues!

    7. I first found out about bjds two years ago. I was on ebay, looking for dolls from my childhood, and was a new ebay member. I saw some BJDs when I was searching for DOLLS. I remember peeking at them, and being in awe. Then spotted the prices, and promptly clicked the back button. About six months after, my sister called me to come see this new doll she ordered. The doll was BEAUTIFUL ! The first things I noticed was how realistic the shoes, and clothing were. I fell in love, and told her the doll was OK. I made pretend I didnt care for the doll much. (I knew how much they cost). I didnt tell her, but I started looking for them on Ebay, and found a used one I could afford, and bought her. After I got her I was hooked. I showed my sister, and she introduced me to DEN OF ANGELS. I have had an account now for about 9 months approx.

    8. It didn't take me long. My friend got waay into them before I did but we both discovered them at the same time at Otakon.

A few months later when my friend got a doll of her own I couldn't help but get one myself, so basically that winter my parents suprised me with my first doll.

If I had a choice I would've gotten my doll within 10 min but money issues and such.

And hey, I'm with you and the community issues, I had trouble getting onto the internet for personal problems so I'm trying to get back.

    9. I really can't remember when I became a fan of these dolls...
I think it was probably around 2005 that I saw them for the first time, made future plans at the time to buy one but I had absolutely no money at the time...
Then about two years later I probably saw something to get my passion back and continued on loving the dolls, but still without advance at all...
Then probably around 2008 I started to watch tons of videos on youtube about face ups and stuff. My passion had come back but I still hadn't got the life to get a doll...
Then about one year ago I got a credit card with free 25€ and my first thought was "I will buy a doll now!" but ... I was scared of buying something that expensive in the internet... (first buys you see..) and didn't... I had my eyes on a BBB Song though. Still didn't buy any...
      Then last month I finally bought a Hujoo and I'm loving him so much I want a bigger boy (my dream XD the bigger the better) so I've ordered a RS Long a few days ago ~~ now I'm my waiting XD;

    10. I knew about these dolls for like a year, and then I decided I really really liked them so I started going to every doll site I could find. I joined DoA back in October, when I started seriously considering buying one, but I didn't buy him until December. So...you do the month math.

    11. I have known about Dolfies for some years, as a friend of mine had gotten a couple. About two years ago we were travelling to an anime event together and I got to hold one of her dolls and I thought this mold would be excellent for a character that was forming in my mind at the time. So I got one the next year, same mold. Last month, he got a girlfriend :D

    12. It's actually been two years from when I first saw them to when I decided to buy one. I fall in love at first site, but it's never been realistic before now. I still can't afford my little darling yet, but I will soon! So I'm still one of those doll-less DoA members (meaning I can't really answer your second question), but now I know exactly who I'm getting, what her name is (Quincee Elliot Villanova, if you care), what her style is (kodona, steampunk, some lolita), and what her personality is (history nerd who hangs out with the boys but secretly is obsessed with victorian tea parties).

    13. I cannot remember when I first noticed BJDs, probably several years ago. At the time they did not interest me because I was busy with other hobbies. I discovered them again recently and fell in love with their beautiful faces. I have not ordered one yet because I am still doing research, but I have seen at least two or three that will eventually win me over.

I joined DOA last month because because I wanted to find out more about BJDs and this seemed like a great place to do so. I have been reading in the forums since I joined, but this is my first post.

    14. It's been 4 years since I discovered bjds and uh... I don't have one yet. I suspect it will be a few more years before I can get one.

    15. Lol 8 years before my first >.> Though I'd heard of DoA I completely forgot until I came home with my first doll and thought hey isn't there that big doll forum?

    16. Well...everything exept buying my first one kinda happened in one day :sweat ...I was just browsing through one fiction blog and I saw some photos with kinda creepy dolls. There was a link to some DA member so I clicked on it and get to hiritai's gallery. I was really stunned by the look of the dolls so I started to searching on google and actually got here on DoA. Then it was just a matter of time till I decided I want my own doll too...it took almost a year, but now he's sitting next to me and we're debating on a new member of El Circo :)

    17. from 5 years ago.. after watching rozen maiden i started looking some stuff in youtube n found a Japanese video that talks about bjd lol ...
i kept telling myself no matter how beautiful they are , they're just dolls and its expensive >w<
but yeah DOC kirill made me do it >3<

    18. Wanted a doll since I accadently found pics of one on eBay in 2006. Just got Jasper in the mail last week... Gave him a face up and waiting for his wigs to arrive! Have been a member here since July... Cuz that's when I decided to get my daughter her first BJD (Saomi) for her 13th bday! Very active member.

    19. I don't really remember the exact year, but a few years ago I found the Volks website by randomly browsing anime/japan-related websites. I was pretty fascinated, but when I saw the price I just went O__O (I was still a student at the time). I tried to put them out of my mind, but never quite managed. Then someone on my lj friendslist got BJDs and I started reading -her- friendslist searching for doll pictures... I don't know why but I had a reluctance to actually sign up at DoA for a while. Finally I caved, though, and signed up last year. Shortly afterwards, I bought my first doll.

    20. Can't remember how long exactally, I think it was a few months? My then future flatmates emntioned it as a hobby they were going to get into, and showed me a few and then I starte dlooking on my own. A while late after I had moved in, I placed an order and got my boy 2 or so months later :3
