1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. I first saw BJDs in 2006, but as all of the dolls I've purchased between then and now are off-topic at DoA, I never bothered to join until I ordered my Brownies. They should be here in mid-April. :)

    2. I discovered BJDs the summer I graduated from high school. I joined DoA later that year. I already have the funds saved for my first doll, so by the time I get him, it will have been nearly a year.

    3. Heehee lets see well I know have two dolls and I saw my first one in june of 2009 and bought my first one two weeks later a DZ X after seeing my firends DOD Homme Duncun I fell in love and by persuasion joined DOA three months after my bought my doll and right after he arrived home.

    4. Well, I've been a member of Den of Angels for just about TWO YEARS...and an active member for maybe 4 or 5 months. xD I got interested in the hobby probably 3-4 years ago, and didn't get my first doll until December 2009. X.x Mostly because I didn't have lots of money, and my parental has a habit of "borrowing" my money so that I can "save it up for big purchases" and then not letting me at it. >=| Finally I coerced her to let me get one as a Christmas present. =P

But yeah, I was always trying to save, but I didn't get serious until about September 2009. From what I can tell, most people end up waiting at least a year after the first discovery before they've looked at enough BJD online shops to get desensitized to the price and not feel too frightened to buy one. xD

    5. I liked dolls for about a year but didn't actually consider buying one until 3-4 months ago. The prices scared me to death at first. However, I became friends with this really nice girl who owned two BJDs and I realized just how awesome it would be to own one (or some...)

However, this friend, as nice and cool as she was, had bought her BJDs on impulse and didn't know very much about them apart from the fact that they're expensive, customizable, and "interchangable...somewhat". So began my massive research about BJDs; another doll owner friend (more experienced one) recommended that I join DoA in order to learn more about BJDs. I'm technically still researching for specific stuff but I'm saving for a doll at the same time.

    6. Things just keep coming up so still no doll after... six months of joining doa? I've known about them for much longer but wasn't hit with wanting until after joining the forums. I'd say it's difficult to be active in the gallery sections but talking in general and debate works rather nicely for me.

    7. When I first found out about them, it was because my sister wanted one for her birthday. I spent six months researching them before buying her one. A few months after that I realized I wanted one too... So I worked with my parents and got a CP Yder for Christmas ^^; I didn't find DoA until after I bought my sister's doll though.

    8. I .... can't remember if I posted in here! :sweat So, I apologize if I have already. It wasn't that long actually I don't think. My boyfriend, Ageha_Love, always speaks so passionately about his BJDs so one day I decided to check out dollmore.net and then we got talking about them. That went on for a lil while and then about ... I think it was a month ... ago I started saving for my first, a DM MSD, and now I'm almost ready to order him.

I really think they're all super cute :fangirl: But also it gives me something I can share with my boyfriend and it means we can do some cute photostories and stuff together! :aheartbea

    9. I was introduced to BJDs back in 2005...it took nearly a year and a half after that for me to finally get Sophia! I didn't really like them much to start with...then I found the DOD site and fell in love with Shall, I knew I HAD to have her! Ended up getting her for my 21st birthday ^^

It would have been sooner but I was rather broke XD

    10. I discovered BJDs almost 3 years ago... And only this month I ordered my first one...
I've been a doll-less member here for some months and not exactly active (it's hard to be *really* active when you don't have a doll to discuss.... ) but I plan on changing this now that my baby is coming!:fangirl:

    11. It was about 2 years before I was able to buy my doll back in January....mainly due to lack of money and my parents not understanding my wanting a doll....Now I don't care if they care or not cause I don't live with them anymore, so now they can't get mad at me for saving and spending my money on them.

    12. I am not sure when I first knew about these dolls ~
I have collected dolls for number of years on and off but only just recently realised the potential of these wonderful dolls:aheartbea
I have now taken the plunge and ordered my first one
      So eagerly awaiting her arrival:fangirl:

    13. I owned a BJD about two hours after I first found out about them.
I was at an anime con when I saw my first BJD. I fell in love with him from a cross the dealer's room, when I got closer and saw he had violet eyes I had to have him.:aheartbea

I spent an hour or two thinking about the price, but then I was back at the dealers table buying him. I brought him home that night, on the bus though NY City, butt naked and raped in a blanket, because they didn't have a box for there floor molds, and I didn't want a different doll that was sitting in a box. I wanted the doll I had first seen. At the time I new nothing a bout BJD's or DOA. :)

    14. It was about two years between finding out about them and ordering the first.
I discovered them while I was still living in uni halls of residence, and there was no way I was going to have one in there, so I reserched till I finaly got out of there and into a house.
I can't actualy remember how I found out about them.

Joined DoA the month I ordered the first.

    15. Found out in 2003 i think and definitely wasn't interested. It came later and i lurked in the Francophon forum before suscribing a year later. Doll arrived à few months after that so... At least 1year and a half between my interest and the doll.
DOA came only recently so doesn't count. ^^

    16. I had wanted a BJD for so long, about 4 years after I discovered them, but honestly, the thing that kept me back was the fact that my friends and roomies really don't like them. But, whatever, I moved on from that and said well, F' it. And I'm so happy I did. I love my first doll, and now everyone is saying, oh well... I guess she's not all that bad. <3

    17. It took me two years to decide I wanted a BJD for myself.
      :)

    18. I discovered BJDs about a year ago on DeviantArt. I did a bit of research and, after finding out the price, I gave up for a short while. I told myself there was no way I could afford one, no matter how beautiful they are. But then, in January, my friend showed me her BJD and it rekindled my love for them. I joined DoA in January and shortly after, in early February, I ordered my first BJD :D I'm still a fairly active member even though I don't have my girl yet, but I'll probably post more once she arrives :)

    19. As I was carefully opening the box, I'll admit, I didn't know what to say, save for the fact that she was the very angel that had appeared in my imagination and dreams. My mom and grandma loved her instantly, and my dad loves her too.

    20. When I first seen a BJD I had no idea what it was, and I admit I was one of the ones who stared at the BJD and it's owner oddly. I forget how long ago this was, I just remember walking through the mall and spotted a couple girls carrying large SD's and I stared at them thinking they were pretty but didn't understand why people wanted to carry around dolls let alone play with them and they were my age at the time.

Now I know why of course, since I'm getting into the hobby. My friend (who lives miles away from me) recently got one and got me looking at all the dolls she wants and such and I soon started to fall in love with how beautiful they are. I joined the site when I first made mention to her I'm thinking of buying myself one. After my initial first two posts I never was active.. I never returned until I finally got my first on order. Now the site is helping with first doll anxieties.. I've also just ordered a second already so... Only a few more months without dolls hopefully.
