1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. Sorry about the double post the server was slow in updating.

    2. I've known about them for about six-seven years however family issues and economic issues kept be back and I forced myself to forget about them. I also knew that my mother would ridicule me since she was the kind of parent who believes in forcing children to grow up fast. Now that I'm in a situation where finances and the like are stable enough for me to have extra spending money and the like, I want to be sure that I'm 100% committed before buying a doll. I don't want to do the hobby injustice or be frivolous because that would be a waste of time AND money. There's a few models that I like but I'm still holding out some more to be completely sure that I want to own a BJD and have the dedication to do it justice.

    3. I found out about BJD's from Deviant Art a few months ago and it was love at first sight! I tried joining DoA right after i discovered dollfies, but it was not taking members. But I finally was able to make an account and It has been one of the only websites i get on! (i am on here 3-5 hrs a day) ^^Now i am saving for my first doll!!

    4. I don't actually own a BJD right now but I decided I was actually going to try and save my money for a doll a couple of months ago and I've known about them for since early 2009.
      It's not been a super long time but it's been long enough for me -__- ;

    5. I found out about the dolls through my anime geek friends. It took me two or three years before one of my close friends bought one(SovietMuffin on here). A few months later, here I am waiting to send off my money.

    6. Well, I got really obsessed with BJDs around a week or two before I purchased my first BJD. :) Once I saw her, I knew I had to have her <3.

I wasn't really active on DoA until I ordered her.

    7. I've known about them for a few years. I joined the site last December (though wasn't active) and got my first doll today!<3

    8. I first learned about them at an anime convention several (5 maybe?) years ago. I was interested but after some research I was turned off by the price, and with very young children I was just too busy to put more thought into it. It was 2 or 3 years before I gave in a bought my first doll as a sort of impulse at a con.

    9. I have know about BJDs for a few years now and had to get over the sticker shock.

I had already ordered my first doll by the time I found this site, though I need to be more active on it. lol

    10. I first found out about BJDs through a "doll band" here in the Philippines. They're called Mistula, and they use the dolls to represent the members of the band. Kinda like the Gorillaz. It was back in 2004, when I was still in 2nd year high school. Now I'm in my last year of college, and I'm beginning to contemplate on getting a doll of my own. XD

    11. Surprised I hadn't found this thread yet... I only got on DOA about a month before I purchased my first doll so that I could mainly do research, but I love the community aspects now. ^^ I knew about BJDs about 4 years ago and tried and failed in convincing my parents to buy me one and I've been keeping up with a couple companies over that time and pining until I go my first as a birthday gift (from the same people who said they'd never get me one) and the rest were purchased with spare money from my job. ^^ I wish I had been on DOA for those doll-less years though, I'd have even less catching up to do!

    12. I first learned about dolls in... I'm pretty sure it was 2004, because I remember lusting after elf el and lishe lol... I wasn't until 2007 that I really got into dolls, and finally ordered my first <3 So it took me 3 years I guess LOL... granted I was really young (12-13) when I first started looking at them, and never even dreamed that I'd ever be able to afford one.

I was a doll-less member for... 5 months? I joined in August and got my doll in December. I wasn't terribly active... and I'm still not LOL- I try, I'm just bad at socializing I guess.

    13. The first time I saw a dollfie was in 2003 I was surfing the web in class (when i should have been doing assignments lol!) and found a photo of one pretty boy draped in black fabric with a blood red background I was like this "0.0..." I followed the link and the owner had several other dolls that were SO beautiful she also had links to other dollfie sites. One link was for a Philippians band called Mistulla and then thats when I fell in love with them :D!! But, I, too, was scared of the price, so I kinda just let it pass. And then, a friend at work and I started talking about them about two years ago, and I think a year ago (i think this was around the time I joined DoA) I started to save- and now I just bought one! I haven't been too active, but that's because of the lack of a computer most of the time :/...

    14. I think I have been lurking for about 2 years before I've ordered my doll. Like most of us, I was scared of the price, fortunately my choise was not-so-expensive when comparing to other dolls. I believe almost everybody, who doesn't earn good cash will think twice before clicking 'buy' button. Dollfies are beautiful, but are luxury goods, and I think we all have doubts before buying first one. "Will I love him/her, or I will be bored with this hobby?" Well meetups should help, but not all of us have chance to participate in those.

Anyway, now I'm waiting for my first girl :)
      after LONG time considering ^^"

    15. I have known about these dolls for a year and have finally started to save for my first, but it might be a waste because my sister might be getting me it for Christmas this year oh well whatever I save now can go towards my second :D Don't know why its taken me so long I wanted one as soon as I found out about them.

    16. I first started see them in 2007 or 2006. Whenever the Haute Doll with Marie Antoinette came out. There was an ad for a Minifee Shushu. I wanted to but her head to make a hybrid but I didn't know enough at the time. I am glad I knew that I didn't know enough or I would have ended up with a vinyl and resin nightmare I think. Bought my first Summer of last year, so 2-3 years? I really wanted a Musedoll but I am glad I waited, I don't think I would be happy with one now.

    17. It took me about three years.... in between finding out and purchasing. But I only joined doa when I had the dolls, I wish I had joined doa earlier, I love my first dolls but know I know much more about dolls because of DOA and know a lot about what I really like.

    18. I'm a doll-less member... my sister has four, with three more on the way. She started getting them about a year ago, I think, maybe less, but I've been itching to get one since I first saw hers. I think it has something to do with their beauty, not necessarily their practicality. My father suggested I get one and pass it to my children as an heirloom, which I thought was a brilliant idea. After all, when I get too old to sew and too blind to photograph, what would I do with them??? :O

    19. I still don't have a doll, and as soon as I discovered BJDs I joined DoA.
I mostly just lurk on the forum, searching for the one I really like. I made a wish list, but I doubt I'll get all of them. I'm just about to give in to buying Unoa Lusis. Being 16 years old, I have to use my parent's paypal, but I haven't gotten the courage to ask even though I'm using my own money to pay for it.

    20. I totally blame my friend for my obsession. She introduced me to BJD's, and prodded me into saving for the one I am currently waiting for. Then she goes and sends me a link here, and well... Maybe a few months? At most.
