1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. ack sorry I did repost!

    2. I've known about them and been interested in them since.. Well, this spring (maybe april-may 2011). Havent been active here at DoA since this week or so, but got my DC Bella last week :3

We have a Swedish forum too, but there's not too much going on there so I started using DoA instead.

    3. I've known about them since 2006. I first saw them on some pictures from a Swedish convention and the next year, when I went there myself, I got to see them in person for the first time. At first I wanted nothing to do with them (they creeped me out! :sweat), but after only some few months I got more and more interested in them. But as I never thought I would actually afford one I put the thought on ice.

Though in 2010 my friend asked if I wanted a BJD as a joined Christmas/Birthday/Christmas gift, and it's about when she mentioned that that I found DoA, but I didn't join until some few months later. I wasn't active at all though. I mostly forgot about the forum all in all. I got my first baby on December 26th in 2010, but I didn't become active on this forum until... September this year. :sweat

But bottom line; It took me 4 and a half years before I actually got my first doll, and it took me another 10 months before I actually dove in and bought another one for my own money. :)

    4. Concerning Dollfie Dreams I definitely took notice of them a few years ago. They were so pretty and I loved all the pictures people would post up of their girls. Of course I never had the money to buy one for myself. I kept telling myself that it was too much money and that I would never be able to afford any accessories even if I did purchase one... And well this year when I saw Saber Extra as a web-order where I would be assured to have her and her price tag wasn't out of my reach. I couldn't help but want to have her for my own. I took about 8 days after the pre-orders started to really think about it and to make sure I really wanted her. All 8 days I kept thinking about how much I wanted to own her so it was decided and I ordered her right after those 8 days putting a down payment and will pay off the whole of her when February comes around. I really wanted her and my husband supported me in getting her (promised my half of our tax refund to pay for her hehe). Now I'm already gathering up accessories and things for her while I wait for June to arrive~ And now she hasn't even arrived and I put in for a lottery for a pre-painted 06 head, so I've officially fallen hard for these dolls <3

    5. Hardly any time at all! I found out about BJDs in August 2011 (...well I've always sort of seen these "pretty dolls" around on dA, but until August had no idea what they were), and made an account on DOA to learn more about them. After about a month of careful consideration, I dipped into my savings and bought my first doll in September. :aheartbea

    6. Technically I haven't given in yet (no doll), but I am doing serious research so I expect it won't be more than a few weeks/months now. I've known about BJDs since early 2009... So about three years here!

    7. oh, geesh... I've known about bjds for a LONG time... I don't exactly recall the year; early 2000s? I had a friend who introduced me to her Volks doll and decided that one year I'd get my own. But it took me about 6 months after I joined DoA to own one. My first doll I ever wanted ended up being the 2nd doll I got, my DOT E-an; Quinn. My first doll Cara (LTF Chiwoo Elf), is coming up on 2 years Dec 19th. With several more lined up :3

    8. I have first seen a BJD some years ago, i can't clearly recall when exactly, but have been more interested in them for nearly four years now. I gave in just this summer after a lot of thought if it's really a good hobby for me. Now I don't know how I lived without them for so long XD.

    9. Five days! I mean, I'd *seen* BJDs before but I had no idea what they were called or how/where to look for them. They seemed like something from a parallel universe for the longest time. When I finally discovered the term "ABJD" I started researching frantically and bought my first doll within five days.

...Yes, I know. But I have no regrets.

I joined DoA about a month after placing my first order, mostly because it was not possible to join the forum immediately. So before DoA, I was on the Dutch forum BJD Café, which is also where I got my DoA invite. Those are my two dollie homes on the web.

    10. I learned about bjd a year ago from the Russian Doll Forum. Decided ,they was way too expensive. But my thoughts always went back to them. So... I gave up and bought one.

    11. I am about the same as this! I've known about bjds for years, but always thought about how expensive they were, and for some reason they never appealed to me before...but now I feel really drawn to them and am doing some intense research/saving. I'm waiting a bit before making any big decisions so that I know whether or not I'm impulse buying though, lol.

    12. About three months? I joined DoA in June of last year, I believe, and bought my doll for my birthday (October 2nd). Once I saw the one I had to have...I got him as fast as possible >3<

    13. I first found out about BJDs at some point in high school...and didn't actually purchase my first one until my sophomore year of college (somewhere around there), and that was a second-hand purchase. I don't know the exact amount of years but it was at least two to three. Now, before I ordered one directly from a company...it was easily 4 to 5. I only recently became a member of DOA. :)

    14. I still don't have one. ;_;

    15. I found out about BJDs in July of 2008 and joined DOA not long after. At the time, I was unemployed, but managed to get a temp job in late July. I used a portion of my earnings to get my first BJD in August of 2008. So for me, it was only a month, which was as soon as I could afford it.

    16. I found out about BJDs when I was 16 and only got one in the past year, so 6 years about. I really don't think it was that long, though, especially since I wouldn't have been able to buy one in high school since I didn't have the money for it.

    17. Learned about it around 2008 on a german site dedicated to anime and manga but decided to own one myself just one year ago, when I saw so many beautiful sculpts on deviantart. I haven't decided which one I will buy until now (actually util yesterday XD) and I still lack the money to purchase it D:

    18. I don't remember when the first time I learned about BJDs. Probably somewhere around 2007-2008. While I really adored the beauty of the dolls, I never feel the urge to buy one.

It changed in the middle of 2010 though. A close friend of mine gave me the link to Souldoll, and after I saw Asen I cannot go back. :sweat

    19. One of my friends in High School was really interested in them when the whole hobby was pretty new. I didn't start liking them until last year, and didn't get one until this year, so 10 or 11 years!

I thought they were weird and creepy for the longest time, and then I handled a Dollfie Dream at an event I happened to be at with friends in '08 and thought "this isn't so bad". Shortly after, DDs started appearing in the figure community and the more pictures I saw, the more interested I got, until I finally bought one early this year. Once I was used to the joints and the eyes and wigs and all of that, suddenly I started seeing BJDs I liked, and now I've got one, with a whole list of potential others.

    20. I fell in love with them when I was 11, and I would've gotten one then if I'd had the money, so I 'caved' right before I turned 13, after I'd saved up enough. ^ - ^ It was worth the wait.
