1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. I first found out about bjds in 2006 and was put off buy the prices and wasn't that interested. It wasn't until 2011 that I started seriously considering buying one. From there it snowballed into the group I now have. I didn't join DOA until after I had bought my first 6 or so dolls.

    2. I knew about BJDs back in 2007 or '08, maybe? I saw them on the internet, but I saw my first one in person in late '08.
I got my first doll in mid December of 2011.

I was never without a doll when I was on DoA, I dove into the hobby, and DoA with two dolls already in my possession.

    3. I saw one at Acen 05...Immediately went home and started looking...ordered a few months later.....I am currently doll-less for about 2 years... But I am soon going to have a new boy!

    4. I found out about bjds in junior high school, and then got one for Christmas after my first semester in college so about 8 years.

    5. I fell for a BJD about a year before i was able to get her.NOT Counting the wait time. But if i had a job i would have gotten her MUCH SOONER.

    6. I've been wondering, how much time passed since you guys first found about BJDs,to the time you finally gave in and ordered one?
Roughly about six, seven months? I'm a horrible time keeper! Haha. But I recently order my first doll and I'm hopefully getting a body for a wig I ordered two months back for my birthday. I didn't give in as much as the doll was well priced for me, secondhand, and just the cutest

Also, for how long were you a doll-less DoA member? Were you an active member, despite your lack of dolls?
I'm STILL a doll-less DoA member, but I find myself enjoying despite it all. I get to see everyone having lots of fun and not worrying too much of my lack thereof. I've been pretty active, but I had a few days disappearance on the account of being too lazy to return (was on tumblr) and RP'ing on MSPARP. Other then that, I've been pretty active!

    7. I first found out about bjs in April of 2011. I waited about 24 hours before I ordered my first doll.

      I joined DOA in August.

    8. I found out about them when I was in middle school and instantly wanted one, two, three--even more. I spent a lot of time researching them and picking out outfits, and dolls online. But my dad and mom never agreed to getting me one. I would have 'gave in' a lot earlier, but I wasn't able to afford one until my first year of college, last year! And now... My fiance and I have five with one more on the way.

    9. I think i've wanted one since 2004 and i just got mine in august of 2012.

glad i finally got him though<3 i'm saving up for my next one now :3

    10. I discovered BJDs around October of 2010, and wanted one almost immediately. In December 2010 I ordered my first doll after obsessively researching them. After joining DoA, I bought my next doll around July of 2011 while still waiting for my first doll. Now I have 6 full dolls, 2 floating heads and one on it's way :)

    11. About 2 and a half years? I joined DoA and amassed a ton of information before I got my first one - which I regretted once I got it. Then I didn't get a doll again until much later, but I'm glad I did.

    12. mine was 2 years because of funds

    13. I've first seen a BJG three years ago. Give or take a month or two. Now I'm starting to think about buying one of my own.

    14. i found out about bjds when i was around 12 or 13. im nearly 18 now, so it took me that long to find one that i adored so much that i actually had to buy. <__>

    15. I think I knew BJD for about 2-3 years before I ordered my first one.
I registered at DoA after I already bought my first doll :)

    16. When I first learned about BJDs I was too young to be able to get a proper part-time job to save up for something so expensive, so I was doll-less for many years despite wanting one. Forget 'giving in', I just wanted one from the beginning but couldn't afford them. ^^;

I didn't join DoA until I had my first doll already, and I wasn't active for a couple of months after joining.

    17. I've admired them for a very long time, probably 2005 or so. I seriously started wanting one around 2010-2011. I got my first in the summer of 2012.

    18. I first found out about BJDs probably three or four years ago. I lurked on DA and Flickr a lot before finally deciding to buy one of my own, which was last month, same time I joined DOA. I'm currently waiting on my first boy!

    19. I found out about BJDs in early 2005 and bought my first doll on august 2006^^

    20. I've known about them since about 2008. I always admired them, but never thought I would buy one since, wow, the prices are so high.
The first site I came across was Iple House and then DoD. I explored around just to see these beautiful dolls for years.
In 2010, I was seriously thinking about getting one. I found myself back at DoD looking at the DOC, but I decided to put it off.
I didn't think I was ready enough to buy one. Sure, I had researched, but I wasn't confidant in my knowledge.
By 2012, I thought I was ready for a doll. For months I searched for the perfect sculpt. For some reason, I kept going back Iple again and again no matter what other companies I was looking at.
In the end, I ordered my first doll from Iple in Nov. of 2012. I'm still waiting, and I look forward to my first doll!
