1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. about 4 months. It took me that long to decide on a sculpt though, not to decide i would buy one hahaha.

there's just so many pretty dollies out there

    2. I became aware of BJD in December 2012, ordered my first doll in January 2013

    3. I found out about bjd's in 2007 but was immediately put off by the price, I knew I really wanted one but also knew I'd have to wait. I guess I sort of forgot/ignored wanting a doll until late last year, I'd seen them around conventions for a few years but still couldn't afford one but last year I stumbled across a blog (antiquelilac) and her dresses and dolls were so amazing I started saving up for one.

I went through about three dolls before I found the one for me, the first two were sold out before I had enough money which was frustrating but eventually I found my Island Doll and something about her made me want to buy her, I borrowed the rest of the money from my fiance and I received her a week and a half ago. I've only been on the forum about three days (was only activated last night) so I wasn't tormented too much whilst I was waiting.

    4. It took me several years of lurking around and then I unexpectedly fell in love with a Soom Mega Gem Monzo and I went crazy.

    5. For me it was a few months of looking at different doll companies, finding out where to buy wigs and eyes and all that stuff, before I purchased my doll.

    6. I think for me it was... 2005? Somewhere around there - a friend was showing me her and her girlfriend's small collection and they terrified me at first but I was quite fascinated. Life circumstances didn't allow me entry into the hobby until mid-2011. I had completely forgotten about them until I saw my friend's name again and went, "Oh yeah, she had those creepy-but-cool dolls!" and have been hooked ever since. :)

    7. I learned of them a long time ago, I was still in high school and a member of a pixel doll forum, it was 2004 or 2005 I think...
It took me a good long time to get on after that though, and I phased in and out of interest in them (especially after I started at university) I got my first for my birthday last year, and am planning more additions to my dolly family.

    8. I known bjd in 2008, and my first doll came in 2009. i waited almost 2 months for my first doll.;)

    9. Six whole years. But, I finally will have my first doll in a few days!

    10. Two years ago y discovered the BJD's through a MiniFee Shushu image in deviantart, I started to investigate and found Fairyland (which I thought was the only house that sold these dolls xD) and loved the Chloe, I forgot about these dolls because of the price but last year I went to a Manga convention and saw them again, this time in person, and I couldn't resist, they were SO beautiful and I just wanted to touch them (they didn't let people to touch them), so I'm back in this world and looking forward to my first doll, decided to save money ^^

    11. I've been wondering, how much time passed since you guys first found about BJDs,to the time you finally gave in and ordered one? Also, for how long were you a doll-less DoA member? Were you an active member, despite your lack of dolls?

I didn't find out about Bjds till last year, and I didn't think much of them, I just thaught they where overpriced barbies. Then this year at an anime convention I went to an Info panel on bjds and the second the wig and eyes came off and out, I wanted one! I went a year and about 8 months without a doll, but the entire time I was looking at every companie imaginable. I was a dollless Doa member for about 3 and a half months, I wasn't really active I felt out of place. But the forums proved a great resource and in finding more out about doll companies.

    12. I bought mine when I first got a job. She was my first major purchase. I'd known about the dolls for a bit and she came home back in April of 2008. I had tried to join DoA back then but something had kept happening and I never got my account activated. I had to then put my bjd dreams on hold for a long while because of things happening that weren't for the best. I finally came back and opened the account in Nov of 2012 and since got two tinies as well as my 2008 MSD girl.

    13. For me, I had always loved BJDs every since I was eleven or so. Then, I tried joining DoA when I was 15 but it seemed that registration was closed....
Then, I won a small contest and was able to use the prize money to buy a bjd~
Now I'm waiting on my first dolly~ It took me one to give in and buy one once I found one that was suitable for pricing, since I can't order anything too expensive. It took me two weeks to find the right one, though.

    14. I found about BJD in a magazine when I was like 10 years old or something. Then I ordered one after 5 years.:)

    15. I have known BJD since 2008. And I ordered my first doll this year. I joined DoA after my order and after my doll arrived I started to check this place more.

    16. I was hooked as soon as I saw StarsOfCASi's Kisho. (I had seen a doll before then, but not up close.) I held Kisho once and I had made up my mind to buy a doll. I joined March of 2011, but I didn't get Angelo off of the marketplace until August of 2011. I was active here the entire time I waited. I liked reading off of the forum and I wanted to know a good bit of stuff before I got him. I also just find the forum amusing and entertaining. There was no giving in that needed to be done. I've always loved dolls, so it was an easy, easy decision. As for being doll-less on the forum, I know that most of the people here are very nice so it didn't bother me at all. I was able to learn a lot about the dolls and enjoy the hobby even without one!

    17. Well I've been a member since June 2012 and I didn't order my first doll until March 2013 and she didn't arrive until June so exactly a year as a doll-less member haha. I've known about BJDs since late 2011, so it took about a year and a half of research to make the decision to get one. Now of course I'm like, "How did I not buy you sooner!"

    18. I joined while I was waiting on my first MSD pair but it was a long while before I actually ordered them from the time when I first found out about BJD's. I never thought I could afford any to be honest. It wasn't till I joined up here that I realized I actually could own some low end ones...

    19. I first discovered BJD's through a friend when he asked me to check out the model he was using to learn photography. I didn't have much interest in them at the time but I was curious, so I signed up to DoA to get more informed. I figured - if it's important to him, why not?
I was never active on the boards but shortly after that I stumbled across a photo of Duncan (DoT) and fell into a full helping of obsession. I didn't have the money - nor could I justify it then so I put the thought on the back burner until now.
Technically I am still Doll-less but I have two on the way. Hid from DZ and (after a week of searching and deliberating) I went with Code. No. 2 from DOD. I'm so excited I probably spam my tracking numbers a billion times a day. Over kill I know... but oh my goooood! Soon. Hahaha.

    20. I had first stumbled upon BJD's when I was 12. So its been about 9 years that I've been wanting one. Its nice after all that time to finally be getting one :)
