1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. I got my first doll when I was back in high school, and it took a while, cos I needed to convince my dad. We ended up paying half and half.

    2. I think it was about two years before I got myself a KDF. I was in high school when I first discovered BJDs, and I immediately loved their aesthetic. I played with the idea of getting one during my junior year of high school, but I didn't have the funds for it. I was really close to ordering a cheaper YoSD during that year, but I never went through with it. It wasn't until my sophomore year of college that I finally bought myself a KDF.

    3. I first saw a lot of them in Haute Doll back when. It was about 6 months ago that I got my first one, and the crowd is growing very fast.

    4. It was about a year or two before I finally got my first doll. Even then it took me weeks to finally decide on what doll to get. xD; Now my general policy for most big purchases is to wait about a week and if I still like it by the end of that week, then I usually get it. Or wait longer and think about it some more. xD;

    5. Six years to get a porcelain art BJD, and eight for my first resin (soooooon!) I have been a doll person for ages and have been part of a BJD facebook group for a while but have only recently joined DoA and ordered my first reisin doll to customize (a birthmasaversary gift from my boyfriend) shortly after. Not long after getting marketplace acess I found a second hand girl I am in love with and will suit a concept I have perfectly! Now I am scheming another to go with her... It kinda snowballed on me O.O

    6. I've known a bit since early 2012, but never actually wanted one until last Christmas. My dolls won't arrived until months later but I've got a good deal of package for them both so I'll wait XD!

    7. It took me about 5 years to get my 1st BJD. I'm gathering offopic dolls and it helped, but finally I could not resist and ordered a BJD:)

    8. If I remember correctly there was only a couple of months between finding out about BJD's and actually buying a BJD.
That was almost eight years ago :)
I can't remember when I joined DoA. But it was when I had my first doll ordered or just after I received him.

    9. I'll join the club of people who got one very soon after discovering them >.< I lasted a month before I bought my first BJD. I think that it does make a difference that when I discovered them, I had a job and was 25 yrs old. If I found them in high school, I probably would have had to wait a couple of years to buy my first one. Also, I do think it can be a smarter idea to wait a little longer for an expensive hobby, and also a hobby where the more informed you are, usually the better. I don't regret jumping in, but I see the value in waiting longer for the first one.

    10. I cave in after four years of fawning over the dolls when I finally found doll that I loved as to be my first one. I joined finally through friend to DoA as my friend who was more experienced bjd collector kept poking me that this place is one of those must join things for bj-doll lover.

    11. Knew when I was 14, and gave in before that year went by.

    12. My favorite doll is Volks SD13 Show. I got him 6 years ago.

    13. I discovered BJDs in high school, and thought they were the most beautiful things. Back then, though, I couldn't even dream of having enough funds to buy one of my own. Finally, about 5 or 6 years after my initial fascination, I was able to invest in my very own. Now it's just a matter of making the collection even bigger!

    14. I fretted for about a year, then decided to order my first.

    15. I think it was about a year ago, after I gotten into Pullips. I ordered my first in November '14 since I felt it was the right time and had done plenty of thinking before hand if this was what I really wanted to do. I haven't gotten her yet, so im still anxiously waiting :D

    16. I fell in love with BJDs in 2011, made an account, then only pulled the trigger in november. I'm buying my first doll from a friend locally.
I also hadnt posted here until like.. 3 days ago >.>

    17. I lasted about 2 months, but pretty much the whole time I was searching for the right dolls. Which still makes me a doll-less DoA member because I'm still waiting on them :P

    18. A few days until I've found my first grail.
This hun sitting on my table now. ~

    19. I waited five years before I ordered my first one! I now wish I hadn't waited so long because my favorite doll company imploded by the time I got around to buying one!

    20. I know about BJD around 3 year ago (and scream them price). I used 6 month to decided order my first and bought them on last year.
I am DOA member after I received my first doll.
