1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. Discovered on Jan of 2007, sold enough dolls to get first one from DDE by Feb of 2007 and in between have owned by both buying and selling over 100 and down to 10 as we speak.
Very happy with those 10 and don't see any more for quite awhile.

    2. Once I found one I liked, which was within a day or two, and once I got the money to order =O I've only had my doll for a short time now. I wanted to be on DoA to learn more before I got her and read opinions and whatnot.

    3. It was... Less than two months after I joined DoA before I had ordered Jay. Crazy, crazy... I kind of fully fell in quickly. Now, I've got two dolls, and am planning another next year. (I think I'm, according to my fiancee, allowed one a year. XD) Got Jay last June, Lir in January... Running for Glot next year... XD

    4. I discovered them in 2006 and bought 2 in 2008. So....two years.

    5. I think it was early 2006 when I saw my first BJD, and summer of 2007 when I caved and bought my first doll. So about a year, give or take a couple of months.

    6. 5 years.

Seriously, xD. When I was a BJD newb, I was a newb in every sense of the word. A member I already couldn't stand (she was fake in every way, I suspect she never even had a doll) on this stupid HP RP forum I was on first clued me into BJDs. She posted a pic one day, it was a Volks something, can't remember, and I was instantly hooked. The dumb snob though replied, "They're like, super expensive..." when I asked about them and linked me to Volks Japan and Custom House. At that time I had no idea that 1) there were like, a gazillion other companies and 2) that they were even called "bjds". So thinking those were the only two companies, and seeing the high prices, I just abandoned hope. I always thought about them, though, and would sometimes browse those two sites just to look at them.

Then 2 years ago or so a friend and I stumbled across someone's doll site, so I started another search and found DoA. That's when I was turned on to Dollzone, and realized there were less expensive options and I could finally have my doll!

    7. Well, I first really got into ABJDs in July/August of 08 and I'm ordering my first doll this Monday! I would have ordered him sooner, but I had a ton of problems choosing a perfect mold for him.

    8. exactly two years from dec2006 to dec2008
i was at first scared by the price, and even though DOD's elf ducan was totally gooorrrgeous, i tend to forget stuff real quick...though i did swoon over pullips for a couple months last last year
it took me two years to stumble again with the site and a month to give into the temptation of buying a bjd, not the elf ducan though

    9. A friend of mine introduced me to BJDs in the summer of 2006. I thought they were pretty, but I was horrified by how much she'd spent on her boy. I liked holding him though, and really enjoyed playing with him when I was with her.

I never thought I'd want one myself due to the cost and the fact that I lived in a house with both a smoker and cats at the time. Then in the fall of 2007 I was browsing doll websites and fell in LOVE with Dollmore's Suntan Asha. She came home in October 2007 and I joined DOA while I was waiting for her to arrive.

Within the space of a year, I went from not wanting any dolls at all to owning 7. Quite a change! I don't regret a single penny spent, though. They're worth it. :D

    10. Hmm... I was pretty much introduced to dolls at Ohayocon 9, in early February, and Anne's birthday is February 24. So... less than a month? lol I joined DoA right after Ohayocon, but it took a week to be approved. Since then I'm on several times a day. ^^;

    11. I have a husband that is rather frugal. It took me over 3 years to convince him. But I got my first, had her for about a week, then found another that I liked. I asked him (not even dreaming he would say yes) and he said as long as I didn't want anything else for christmas I could have him! So I've had both of mine since Nov '08.
He's waiting for his 1st to come in the mail. Lol!

    12. (whoo first post. >D) Ive known what a bjd is for around 6 months now, and now im ordering one in two weeks<3!

    13. Hmm.. I would say probably close to a year.

I Learned about them from another member here (and long time friend of mine) around late 2006-early 2007. Balked at the price she spent on hers & tried to tell her she was crazy. She even brought her collection over to meet me. I thought they were odd. Started doing random searches on the internet to find out what all this was about.

In October 07, found my Pinkie girl. I kept going back, looking at her daily until I was realizing I had her image as wallpaper all over my computer. Then I knew I had to have her (she was one of the last two sold in the LE version). My friend laughed at me when I told her. To this day I do say she is responsible for getting me into this.

DoA is directly responsible for my DZ fox and volks girl.

    14. I've known about Volks for about 5 years, but didn't really start getting into them until last year. Then it was mainly me playing around on shopping sites. I've never really been a forum person, so I didn't join any of the ABJD forums. That probably delayed me. If I'd seen all there is to do, I might have jumped in waaaay earlier. I got my first last year about 5 months after getting really into the whole thing.

    15. First time I saw them was 3 years ago. I believed it was May/April 2006.
But didn't know what they are. Until 2 years after that I bought my first from Ebay.
Then a month later I joined DoA. :XD:

    16. I knew what BJD are since about 2001/2002..but never dreamed abaut having one. Unti october 2007 when I suddenly gave up and bought my first doll from Bluefairy :)

    17. Doll less but hopefully not for long, still getting my head around all the msds :)

    18. I joined in November of 2008, then sort of lost interest for a while... I came back around January 09, then started seriously saving in mid-February.
(I was interested in them a long time (possibly a year or two) before I joined. I didn't get one because I had absolutely no income and no drive to save. xD

    19. I took me a whole year, before I actually ordered one.
Den of Angels was still a Yahoo group, and most if not all websites were still Korean/Japanese only.
So ordering a doll was more difficult, so I ordered my doll through Sienna's shopping service {paying fees and all}.

I used her service for about 7 dolls before I ordered a doll by myself through an actual doll website.

    20. About... a week :) I've never been very good at patience, lmao. I knew right away when I'd seen KDF Bory, and joined DOA, that the hobby was definitely for me. Now my Bory is here (and my Hodoo, hehe - good things come in twos!) he's everything I could have dreamed of - and he's already got way more personality than I expected.

I expect Korea will receive a great deal more of my money in the future!
