1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Long Before You Named Them / The Importance of Naming

Jun 15, 2008

    1. I usually write out a list of names that I like, and slowly but surely I mark off the ones that don't fit :)

All my dollies were named that way, long before they arrived ;)

    2. I've been trying to keep my dolls' names short and simple, like Rico and Vera. The most difficult name for people is Xavier's, because most people want to pronounce it the English way "Eckzavier" when his name is actually pronounced the Spanish way "Havier."

However, he seems to be pushing me to change that. Ever since I started putting him in red and carrot colored wigs, he's starting to remind me of one of the characters I've been writing about for a long time now. Maybe he'll stay Xavier, or he may be renamed Keegan. We'll see how long I can hold out!

    3. waves from the sidelines...
none of my dolls have names. I tend to refer to them by the sculpt name or brand, but no names. I've never felt the need. I like them for what they are and have never needed to give them personalities.

    4. One of my dolls still hasn't settled on a name. I've been calling her by her mold name Binli, but her 'official' name is Luna, as she reminds me of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. Really neither of these names is suitable, but she doesn't care a bit it seems, she just lolls about lazily looking pleased with herself anyway. If she doesn't mind then I'm not going to worry about it too much! I suppose she'll tell me in due time.

    5. i named all my dolls before I even got them in my hands. I think it is very important to name them. The name is an integral part of their personality. I actually go looking at name websites like I would with a baby! I make a list of names I like and look at the meanings to determine what I think will fit their personality. Naming them is fun!

    6. I'm lucky with names, they just jump right out at me when I see a doll I really want. Even before hair color, eyes, personality, the name will come to me and I go from there.

    7. i usually pick names before the doll gets here. its just a thing, so i can greet them when i let them out of the box. the names just come to me, usually....

    8. :D
I am counting the days until i can get my Baby Procel (KD aru),
Aywho, yes her name is PROCEL, and there is a story behind it.
What i'd like to know is how did you name your doll?
      Whats the story behind him/her?
      Whats his/her/their name(s)?

:sweatSorry if there is already a thread like this.

    9. I go through a lot of different names.. o-o I usually make a list then end up picking the prettiest one, or swapping between them when I get the doll.

Ruki and Naoyuki were pre-planned, so I cant say anything about them. Uriel and Zephyr were just randomly planned out...their names just kind of stuck.

if I'm not getting a pre-planned doll, then I just look at babynamesworld.com, honestly xD Or match an OC to them. But, then again, I work at a daycare...I steal names from there all the time...like Aiden and Syna.

    10. I'm trying not to decide on a name before I get my doll. When naming pets I like to spend a lot of time with them and figure out what kind of name fits their personality; I figure the same idea will work well with my doll. :)

Actually, I think I did that with dolls and stuffed animals, too, when I was a kid. ...well, after I got out of that phase where I named everything either Crystal or Sarah :sweat

    11. I'm a slow namer. One of my dolls I've had for over 3 months and still can't settle on a name. :)

    12. I chose my boy's name like wayyyy before i bought him~
it was during the planning stage

    13. I started thinking about a name as soon as i was "hit" by AA4
can't wait til i have saved enough to bring him home ^^

    14. When my B&G Sky arrived I had a hard time naming him. I think he went unnamed for about a month.:sweat
I have a huge list of names that I like but couldn't find one that clicked.
Then, after thinking about what his personality was like and how he looked in my mind, the name Takanori came to me and fit him perfectly.:)

    15. For me everything starts with a name. I have name first - and then go looking for a doll that will be a perfect image of that name for me. In rare cases I liked dolls first, I always have a name thought out before even consider ordering.

    16. I have a list of names I like...and most of my dolls are named long before they arrive. It helps to identify a personality for the doll immedietly. :)

    17. My dolls still have their mold names except for Adam and Eve, the first 2. I gave them those names because it was a joke (they're still nekked after all this time and I like them that way). If I ever change their names, they will still be short monosyllabic ones.

    18. Had a name, long pondered with the mold I wanted in mind. The boy finally showed up and it didn't suit him. Luckily it works as a surname.

    19. My first doll took 4 months. She had a temporary name though but after those months I changed it. :sweat My second doll though has a ready name before he was even ordered. :)

    20. Although I found it easier to bond with my doll,I ended up changing her name afer not too long, just because I felt the new one fitted better.
