1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Long Before You Named Them / The Importance of Naming

Jun 15, 2008

    1. I named my boy before I got him, I was so sure

    2. Most of my dolls are chars before I got them as dolls, so I had names and personalities for them before they were even ordered. Only two of my dolls got their names after they arrived and the name started to come to my mind when I held them, but stuck after a week. :) And like couple here, the names that I chose weren't even on the list at first :D

    3. I choose Niri's name like 2 months before buying her :sweat

    4. Before I got the two I have now, I decided on the molds then chose their names before ever ordering either (which it was about 2 weeks for Oliver and about 3 months for Cordelia). After I had my heart set on an IH Tatiana Pierrot, I ordered her before I came up with the name (Arabella). For the other two dolls I plan on getting I don't have names for yet but obviously I will eventually.

    5. Their names became obvious when I took each one from their box. My 5 yo named Norrie (Barbie Mermaidia stuff, but it fits her), Elphie had ears, Sidney just looked like a Sidney and Emily and Gwen seemed like the right names for the 2 of them.

    6. I named my Nana before I even got her, with the help of my boyfriend.
The name (Samana) just seemed so fitting.

    7. Let's see..
With my first boy I had some naming troubles, since most names I like were not quite fitting. So a few days after arrival everything was fine. My 2nd boy kinda had his name right away on arrival. Even I wasn't very fond of the name, he just needed to become a Hayden :sweat Like he picked it himself. Before I ordered guy #3 I was already thinking about a name. And so he was named before he even got here. #4 stated as a nameless floating head and got named after about 4 months. When I decided he would become a real character. My 5th (head, not ordered yet) already has a name, since he will be based on an original char.

    8. It will probably take months for me to name my first doll, I'm sure!
Because, as the topic states, name is important. Very important. And I have such a hard time making my mind up.
Or even just coming up with names.
One may think that you could just rename him/her if you want to. But that just wouldn't feel.. right.
But who knows, once I do get a doll maybe it will come clear to me (:

    9. To me it's chucking names at other people (to gauge reactions of horror/confusion/joy) and then seeing if you like it or not.
Names grow on me. It's better to gradually like names rather than falling in love (and falling out of love again)

    10. Well, three of mine (only one of which I have home yet) are Naruto characters, so they already have names and personalities.

The other two, Yuriko and Cyrean, though...Cyrean's name kinda just popped out at me, and Yuriko took a couple of weeks to decide. I'm waiting for Yuriko to get here now, and Cyrean is still on my wishlist, though.

    11. Well, my first boy to arrive was an impulse buy, even though I had just ordered my dream boy, but I did have a name picked out and ready for him...but when he showed up, he told my brother his real name. o-O; haha It totally fits, though I'm still getting used to calling him by his new name. :sweat

For my dream boy on the way, I have a list of names picked out and I'll see which one fits when he gets here.

    12. It took me almost a month to name my first doll. I wanted her name to be just right. I was going over a few possibilities, my oldest daughter actually came up with the name for her. My 2nd doll got a leftover name that I didn't use for my 1st. I have a boy that I haven't bought yet, but I already have a name picked out for him. I think the 1st doll is the hardest to name.

    13. I tend to either name my dolls super quick -- like before they arrive, or are even ordered -- or it takes me forever. My Nono had a name before she got here. My Yo-SD Kira has been here since September and still hasn't been named. :sweat But I don't find that it interferes with bonding unless I am trying to "fit" the doll to a preexisting character and have trouble picking one.

    14. With my first I had some names in mind.
With my first Sd I was just enver sure. I couldn't shake off Nana more or less because it was just so perfect for her.
With my other 3 I decided on their names when they were on their way or before I even bought them.

    15. I named mine before they even got into the mail xD

The internet has a HUGE database of awesome names, so that helped.

    16. Sard is still unnamed, even though i had him for a month now ^_^; Just nothing comes to mind. but i blame it on his image not being complete (still needs clothes). However, the future three dolls are already named. silly like that...

    17. I think of names before I get them... Did it with Clare, doing it with Kain. haha
I haven't decided the names for the next few boys I plan on getting.. We'll get to that when we come across that bridge, though.

    18. the naming process happens looooooong before the doll comes home.. I build the character and name and identity and look before the doll even comes home

    19. When I know I am going to buy the doll for sure I name him right then and there! They all have names before they get home to me! LOL I even named the B&G Sapphira that I want that is on my wish list. Named him Lorwyn.

    20. i just ordered my first doll recently and started thinking about names. there's a name i really like in theory. i actually met someone with the name and at first i was like, oh your name is ryan, but it was actually orion. which i adore, and yet... this is weird, but i don't like the way it feels in your mouth. (don't ask me to explain that.) so in my head and on paper, love it, but irl.... and then there's david. i have no idea where that comes from, and it really doesn't excite me, but there's this part of me that just feels like....that's his name...? but i keep trying to talk myself into orion.
gah, this is almost as hard as naming a real kid!
