1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How Long Before You Named Them / The Importance of Naming

Jun 15, 2008

    1. I like that name. And I don't think its weird or anything to keep the mold name. I have a Hanyuu which majikatt (previous owner/best friend) and I always called Hanyuu even before I came to own her. We always thought that name suited her and I liked it anyway. :)

    2. For my first girl (shoyo) took me 4 months >_> my second took about a month (aeslin), my third (isabel) two weeks, and my fourth (beryl) 10 days *_* I'm not sure when to start counted for some since for isabel and shoyo, I was thinking names once I ordered them, aeslin a bit after I ordered her, and I wasn't thinking of beryl until I actually manage to find her since I think it would of been cruel to name a non-existant doll that i wouldn't be sure I would ever get

Since peeps like sharing names Shoyo is Mazikeen (or mazi), Aeslin is Grร inne (Graw-nya), Isabel is Elena, and Beryl Is Meribel [To arei: I really like Casimir :aheartbea ]

    3. I waited at least a year before I named my doll.

I don't think there needs to be any rush if you haven't decided on a name within a set amount of time.

    4. I named my doll even fore I was sure I would buy him ^^

    5. I'm in the process of naming my Polaris right now~
At first I thought I was going to name her Arashi, then Polaris,
but now I'm thinking of Cecilia (just so I can call her Celi~)
I still haven't even gotten her yet! D:
But my mom likes the name Cecilia more than the others... so I guess that's staying? :P

    6. I never intended to name both my boys after types of birds... That was just how it happened to turn out.

My B&G Sapphira was nameless for a while. I actually decided to call him Peregrine while searching for ideas for the name of another doll I am paying off. I liked the name a lot, I love the bird... And it suited him.

Rook, my K-Doll Karon (who will be getting a body for Christmas), got his name almost immediately. I knew I wanted a name that had to do with crows or ravens but that's so overdone so I dropped the idea. But as soon as I opened the box he was shipped to me in and saw him I knew his name was Rook and that was final. I love it, it's perfect for him.

    7. I'm in the same case as you Keiko, I ve had my doll at home for 2 months and she has no name jet. I feel so frustrated because I see that all people always has perfect roles and names for their dolls...

I'm feeling now the same as Seiichi says, I havent got the perfect name for my little girl.

    8. I just got my boy yesterday, and he didn't like any of the names I thought of...so I slept on it, went to school. And in the middle of my 2nd hour, it hit me, Kori >w<

Hopefully my future dolls will just scream their name during the box opening lol

    9. I've been thinking about names since the doll of my dreams crept in to my mind, yet to give me time off.

Her character grows every time I see her, and a name bounces back and forth a few times.

      Sadie - my little nightmare~

    10. I name mine before they arrive, like im getting a bbb March soon and her name will be Maiko
I like names that are Simple common and easy or ones that mean something
my boys names is Eric (simple and common) I had his name planned 2 months before I had him
and my girl Maiko (means Dancing Girl) I planned her name a few weeks ago ^_^ and i'll she will arrive around Christmas time

    11. With my first doll, the moment I decided which doll I wanted [DoC Yen] I started working on what to name him. Thankfully it didn't take me forever and a half.

      Luel Cornelius Valentine Alabaster Faerieharp

And my second doll [DoI Luke] is named after a song I was so addicted to listening to when I ordered him. Vestige -by T.M. Revolution. So that didn't take me too long to name either. I like naming before the doll arrives, because it helps me create their character [if i didn't already have a character that was being made into a doll]. So now a majority of the dolls on my wishlist has names picked out. Of course, they're not solid since the doll might not like the name picked out lol.

    12. I have to hold and see the complete doll first (with wig/faceup) Then their name (or the origin of a name) starts to form and I it's first then that I know what to call them

    13. I'm saving up for 3 dolls and since they are all already based on mythilogical figures they already have names. So, um.....they had names before I even can order them. However i am known to wait months before naming pets because I want the name to reflect the personality of the animal. If I wasn't making dolls already based on something then I'm sure it would be the same as what i do with pets. Then again I do tend to name almost everything I own, from stuffed animals to my laptop.

    14. My Narsha had her name before I even placed the order. My Ducan had to wait a few weeks while I figured out which of my characters I wanted him to be x3

    15. I didn't name Vlad (narsha boy) until last month or so, and he's been home for two years now. I've tried out a couple of names before but non seemed to stick. I'm so happy that he finally has a name!

    16. I have one that I got a year and a half ago and she still doesn't really have a name. Nothing seems to really fit. I know eventually the name will come. If not, I can continue to call her by the company name.

    17. When I got my first doll I didn't have a name for him. So I ended up naming him Salvatore, but for some reason I kept calling him Caleb. So I just changed his name.

Now every doll that I have gotten after him has had a name and a back story. I find it easier to name them and then look for a doll that fits there character.

    18. I dunno, names seem to pop into my head and just stick.
Like, I`ve had a name for my first boy who hasn`t arrived yet for months. xD
But I`m not naming him that until he arrives, just incase he doesn`t suit it when he comes. [:

    19. Personally, I think naming your doll is very important. I place it in the ranks of getting the right face-up and sculpt.

When my first boy came, I knew I wanted his name to be in relation to my alias. And named him Raiden, that very day. I think about 2 months or so later, a name just appeared in my mind and it stuck to him. So he became Raiden Tatsuya and his background and personality falls in relation to his name.

I put in effort to do research on my dolls especially if their characters and background falls under certain mythology, for example, werewolves and elves.

The meanings of their names also gives a hint of each of their characters (:

Personally, I was appalled to hear about a certain owner who had suddenly jumped into the BJD hobby wagon and quickly named her doll when the shop owner suggested a name of a Japanese rocker. =/ But that's just me, I guess?

    20. It varies with the doll. Some I know their names before they even arrive, some get names right away & others take a while. I think the longest took about a month. Then there are those mysterious creatures that seem to accept a name only to tell me months or even years later that their true name is something completely different.
