1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Long Before You Named Them / The Importance of Naming

Jun 15, 2008

    1. for me that's really a simply easy thing....... i bought all dolls for my fav one (he is my fav novel character) so they all already have names( character's name in that novel= =) before they arrive home ~~~~~~~~~~~

    2. I named mine before I got him. It helps if you choose a name a few weeks/months beforehand, and just keep addressing to your new doll by name. But of course, the circumstances depend on you and how you go about the naming process. :)

    3. When I got Deirdre I knew she had a special name but I didn't know what so I just kept looking. Finally I saw her name and read the history behind it and I just got this feeling in my chest like, "this is what she is, this is her."

    4. I think I'd named all of mine before they arrived. But they'll all fallen perfectly into character so far, so it hasn't been a problem :3

    5. I am a first time owner and my doll has yet to arrive (expected date of delivery: some time in april) but I have already decided on a name for him. ^^ It was just a name that I kind of liked and had some special meaning to me, so I'd like my first doll to have that name. ^^ I think it is important to choose a name that you like or have some meaning to you, and it will also help in the bonding process, or maybe it's just me XD

    6. I've decided on all the names for my dolls, since they're all characters of mine. They don't really have any meaning (outside of origin, I mean, really, they need to sound like where they "live").

    7. Naming my possessions comes naturally to me. Of course it takes a few days to get the right name, but when I do find it, I'll stick to it even before my boys come. I stare at their promo pics for weeks and think up of their character and personality, and from there, the name comes naturally. :) Hope it helps!

    8. Her name came a few months before her, but it was the result of much thought. I'd actually avoided going on forums that were about names because I didn't want to end up with one influenced by other people. It was a very natural occurance for me.

    9. I've had mine for months.
Still have no names. Desparately want to name them but can't find the perfect name!!

    10. This is a important topic to me as I have 3 dolls home and only two named. I am having a hard time naming one doll. I got a few dolls coming home in a month or more that arent named either. What are some good way that people have gone about finding names. I know some people just have names they loved from chars in the past but what about looking for new names ?

    11. tommieandgary: Behind the Name is a great place to find names by meaning, origin, and theme. You can also look up the word for a certain thing in another language, or use scientific terms (like the latin name of a plant or animal or the technical term for an object or process). You can merge and modify existing names. For example, I came up with Evara as a variation of Evret (her twin brother's name), which is a spelling variation of Everett. You can just use a word, as long as it isn't too cheesy (I read a book series with characters with names like Blaed and Spere and Shaddo... it gets old fast). Personally I get my character names from everywhere, and sometimes I just make them up. There's no one way to come to it.

    12. My Zoe went nameless for a year!n I just couldn't bond with her for a long time and no name worked.

    13. I Already named my guy but I'm still waiting for him to arrive home. I guess it helped that i researched sculpts before So I knew he would fit my character.

    14. i have to decide their character before i name them...
and the longest one had wait is a month

    15. I got everyone's in five minutes, but I'll use all the waiting time to review or change my idea <3

    16. I've named them way before I order them.

This is partly due to my past time hobby on writing / plotting / day dreaming stories. So when I saw the sculpt, the name kinda goes "Ding!" and that's it. Unbelievably but is true. :sweat

    17. I named my dolly weeks before she ever arrived. I heard the name and decided it would be perfect for her. But I'm starting to wonder if it really fits her. Names are pretty important to me, more so the sound of the name than the meaning.

    18. I've already named three dolls...that I do not yet have. xD

    19. I had multiple names in mind for my doll before her arrival. I am a softie for russian, victorian, or romainian names, so most of them were of those origins. But when I first saw that pretty little face of hers, its as if the name was screaming at me. She's been my pretty little Ophelia ever since.

    20. Well, I kept looking at boy names for my DF Rain, but none of them seemed to fit. He's quite effeminate, so none were fitting very well. I just resigned to the fact that he was going to have a girl's name and that was that, and Aoife jumped out at me.
