1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Long Before You Named Them / The Importance of Naming

Jun 15, 2008

1. As my doll was a gift, something didn't seem right about changing his name. Perhaps sometime down the line I might change my mind. But I just feel weird changing his name (though I know I can).

But, then again, I'm an odd duck. X)

2. I put names beside each sculpts on my wishlist... XD So their names are there even before they exist or arrive here. I'd freak out if I receive a doll and he doesn't have a name yet... =_= Names are so very important to me (and my dolls). I choose them wisely, look up their meanings online and offline, talk to friends, get advices from everyone I know... >.> See the sculpts and ponder over the pictures over and over again... (_ _) The name should match to each one perfectly. But that's just me.

3. Mine are named instantly. I like my dolls to have characters, personality and background. And I don't feel I can do that without them having names, so names are important to me and my dolls, yes.

4. I named both my dolls before I got them ^^

5. For me the right name is really important. It's almost something that animates the doll and gives them personality. I feel like I cannot post photos of the doll before it is named. Name is also something that creates the bond between me and a doll, and difficulties in naming usually indicate to me that I'm not bonding with a doll and then I'll end up selling it or changing the face up of something.

I have lists of names I like and then I read them out loud to the doll to see what fits the doll in question. Sometimes I'm almost waiting for the doll to move and acknowledge their name! LOL. There are loads on name list in the internet so finding isn't the problem, just matching the name and the doll together. ;)

6. My doll I was going to call by her model name.

Then, all of a sudden, while looking for clothes I saw the most beautiful coffin that read Nevermore. From that moment on my lovely doll became Lenore from the same poem.

For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore-
Nameless here for evermore.

7. I still haven't really named my dolls...
I have Soom Galena and Yrie and their designated names were - respectively - Lilith and Lilitu, but I keep referring to them with their company names somehow.
Maybe it's because they don't have a fixed character/persona?

8. My March got her name after I bought her. I had help with her name from my husband becuase I couldn't find the right one. He's pretty good at it; he named one of our cats Delirium and she turned out so random and crazy, hah! The name of the Song i want just popped in to my head after playing with Josslyn for a bit.

The IH Benny I ordered is different. She was a gift from my mother that I did *not* expect, and I wanted a name that reflected that. I picked Adia because it means "gift".

9. I don't even have Amadeaus yet. His name came to me a day after I fully paid him off. I was heading home, and I was daydreaming of the day I'd introduce him to my DnD group, and the line "Everyone, this is Amadeaus." popped into my head. I know it's spelled funny, but I like weird spellings of names. ^.^ He's still not due for at least another two weeks, due to Doll Zone shortening production time. I can't wait for him to come home!

10. I tried to name my first doll before she got home but changed my mind a couple times the night she came. It's a bit critical for me to have names as soon as possible for anything I have because I place so much importance on things having the "right" name.

11. I had names for all my dolls before they arrived. All of them are based on RP characters I had so it wasn't that difficult. I do currently have a nameless doll though, but she was a very, very unexpected arrival (and a gift! *_*) so it's the first time I've found myself in this position.

I would say naming my dolls is vaguely important to me because I want to differentiate them from all the other dolls that are the same sculpt.

12. I haven't named any of my dolls yet. In fact I haven't named any of my collectible dolls ever. Is there something wrong with me?

13. I name them before they even arrive, some have been named before I even ordered them. :3 I actually have a notebook that I use for "doll plan" and I have a page for each sculpt, including the name/character he/she will be. ^^ Sometimes I change things around, but I still know who the doll will be before it arrives. I love creating characters so doing this is a lot of fun for me.

14. I always name mine way before I even get them xD I have a full story planned out already, so I just give them the character name. Sometimes their personalities completely change once I actually have them, but the name always seem to fit.

15. No, nothing's wrong with you. :) Everyone enjoys their dolls in their own way. What would be wrong is if you named them out of peer pressure. ;)

16. Usually I had them named before their arrival :)
I love naming dolls and I've named many of my friends' dolls too.

17. Like emilia, I also feel that the name is very important and not having my doll named can be a problem when shooting them. Mostly they have their names as they are characters that I had had in mind a long time or so, but not always the name you thought it was best for them actually suits them. So I struggle to name them right. Even if it takes a little time. x//D

18. Usually I already have names of dolls I want to own. I also usually decide their names based on whether their sculpt matches the name. However, sometimes after a Face-Up, I feel that the name is not so suitable for my doll anymore ;_;

There are some names in which I felt "It was the one!" because they were the first names that came into my mind when I see the doll. This names usually last. However, there are times in which I just couldn't come up with "inspiration" to name a certain doll. I usually just end constantly changing names for these dolls because I just "can't find the right one" :(

19. My poor girl is still nameless. I had a name in mind when I ordered her, but I'm not sure if it is right.

So I'm still trying to settle on a name. For now I've just been calling her by her sculpt name (E-an). It probably doesn't help that she's been living in her box. I haven't managed to give her a place to live yet. >.<

It's only been a couple of days and I don't think she's completely settled in yet. I'm also really picky with names.

20. I'm sure the right name will come to you. Don't worry too much about it. Most of my rping characters' names just come to me when I either write up their sheet or draw their pictures.
