It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How Long Before You Named Them / The Importance of Naming

Jun 15, 2008

    1. lol I did a little looking on the baby sites and the only two names I seem to like at this point are:
      Ava
      Sonya
@CatRyn: An AOD?! My Tacori is an AOD. People dont give them enough credit :-) The story behind his name is a little stupid, but i guess cute?

    2. @MollyKerr: No, I really don't think that they do. They're extremely beautiful scupts in person. Both Erdric and Aryun are AODs. As for Lyr lol it was sheer irony. The whole situation was odd enough for me to take note. And Tacori is a pretty awesome name!

    3. I always have named picked out for my dolls before they come. I usually pick out a few I really love and then when I pull the out of thier box, the name that I call them when I see thier face is thier name.

Josephine's name may not stick when I see her, so I have a few backups. Amadine's name could ahve been either suzette or miette, but Amadine is what I saw when I looked at her face :D

    4. For my first doll I decided the name before I got her. I just new that this was the name for her (Isla). My second doll I came up with the name right when I held her the first time. She just looked a bit sad and like a dolly from a sweet fairytale (Uba-Ruu). My third doll that is coming soon had a name (not personality though) before I even chose the doll. So I fell in love with PlantDoll Riz and I just new that the name was meant specifically for her (Noemi). Now I have had my FL Marcia head for few days and I still don´t know what to call her. But I´m hoping the name will come when I get her a body and a wig :)

    5. i have to name my dolls before they arrive, because if they arrive and i don't have a solid name picked out, i am too wishy-washy, take forever to choose one, and then never feel that the name i do choose is really hers or his. then i feel the doll is less real, and this affects my bonding...so yeah, it is an important issue for me.

    6. My names are always decided before hand too. I spend a good amount of time looking for a name, really feeling if it fits the character.

    7. I knew my first doll her name two months before I even got her.
And I already know the name for my next doll, but I don't have money for him, so I must save up for at least a year.

    8. I love to do a lot of research on names and I've always got some involved reasoning behind them. As such, I'm most inclined to take as long to pick out a name as I require - vague though that time frame may be. Some names have come easily and I've picked them out by the time I place the order. Other times, it's taken me much longer -- my Notdoll ladies arrived weeks ago but I only made my final decision on names yesterday.

Not having a name right away doesn't bother me in terms of "bonding." I think I would have more problems if I picked out a name too hastily and had doubts about it later - then I'd start to feel odd about the doll. I would rather have a name that I'm going to be very happy with, even if that means the doll goes nameless for a while.

    9. mine are almost alwase named before they ever get here...because usually the whole character and looks and personality is planned out, usually before i even order the doll. i search for the perfect mold after i know what i'm looking for

    10. Zumi had her name before she got here, and so du my future dolls. I just couldn't stand having nameless dolls in my house.. without a name they'd be (to me) without a personality. and that's just no fun.

    11. I've wanted to name mine...but I can't stop just calling them by the sculpt names. Hm.

    12. It took a bit for my doll to be named. It didn't affect my bond with her though. Naming is something that I will always take at my own pace. I want to pick a name that I love and that I am comfortable with. The name has to suit my doll's personality and looks. If it takes a while for me to decide the name, then that's fine. I even think that changing a doll's name is acceptable.

    13. I JUST got my dollfie yesterday! She's the best thing ever!!!! I had two names picked out for her and I thought holding her would be the deciding factor but now it's just as hard as ever. I call her V-ger for now because she's bald xD But I'm hoping it'll just kind of come to me eventually.

    14. I've decided to rename two of my boys (I've been on kind of a hiatus for over a year and now got back into the hobby, so I thought it'd be time to give them finally names that suit them just right). Plus I've got a new boy a week ago.
So I need to find three names right now. Baby sites here I come. :3

Three of my dolls got their names even before they arrived home. The other three are now nameless. I don't know why it's so difficult to find names for some of them... and the names for the other ones just click, and that's it!

I hope I'll find nice names soon, it's weird to call them nicknames, such as "Beetle" (he's a PW Punky Beetle)...
While I love my dolls with or without names I think it's still very important to give them the right names. They're not yet complete... :(

    15. I usually always pick out my boy's names before they get here, but my volks irvin is apparently an exception. He's been here for a few days now and I had been waiting for him for months before that. I still can't think of a name perfect enough for him. :(

    16. My poor first doll wasn't named for... two years? xD I'm horrible I know! He was finally named last year. My other dolls already have names picked out so they don't have to just be called 'pretty boy' for a year or more ^^;;

I'm such an awful mommy xD But I wasn't expecting him so I didn't have any thoughts about him. Nothing ever sounded right

    17. All five of my dolls don't have names. The oldest has been with me for about 3 years now. I'm trying to find the perfect name for each of them.

    18. Ive had my three here for a few weeks now, tei, annie, and nora, i havent fully decided on names for them either yet, even tho i do have some names i intend to use & have awaited for a reason to use, they dont suit with my 3 tho, so i will continue looking.. it is frustrating looking for names on baby sites, or even on demon name and devil or angel name sites, due to names being either bland , tasteless to say (yes i love names , i like to say aloud, the kind that roll off the tongue or sound just as beautiful as the doll itself can be.. ) also i find many typical names that are on all sites, and would prefer more interesting sounding ones or least not typical common ones. :0 People should take their time with choosing a name, and i think its fine when they want to change the dolls name too, as it never hurts having a fresh start over. Also, since bjdolls are so adaptable and changable with just a few adjustments like hair , eyes and clothes, i wouldnt think it a bad thing to even make one doll, play two roles, if that makes sense, & hence also adopt two names as well.

    19. I already thought of a name when I got my first doll...actually a friend of mine helped me choose a name. I had a hard time thinking of a name for my second doll..I wanted her name to be somewhat similar to my first doll...My bestfriend suggested a name and I liked it since it's also unique..

    20. I had a list of names picked out, but none of them seemed to stick. So I just waited until he "told" me his name about a month later. :)
