1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long did you wait for your first doll??

May 13, 2010

    1. The first doll I ordered took nearly a year. But during that time, I bought another doll at a convention.

    2. It took me probably close to five years to get my first doll, just because my income, living situation and other factors made it unrealistic to be dropping hundreds of dollars on a doll at that time. Once I finally decided to take the plunge, it took me about a month to save up for him (cleaning out my apartment and things at my parents' house to sell), and since he was in stock at Junky Spot, about a week to arrive after placing my order. His eyes and wig took about a month.

His original name was Zero Amir Angel (Zero from Nightmare Before Christmas-Amir after Amir Derakh-Angel because I liked the name and had had dreams for years about a mystery guy named Angel), which later got changed to Basil Amir Angel (in role play, his boyfriend at the time suggested it when Amir wanted a name that didn't equate to "nothing"), and after marriage, became Amir Angel Lindström.

The only thing really related to his arrival is that I ordered him 11 days before my wedding, and he arrived right before that weekend! So I had a little bit of time to bond, but not much. It was ok, though, because I was able to shop for little things for him on my honeymoon, and by the time all the wedding stuff had settled down, his wig and eyes were arriving so the wait didn't seem as bad.

    3. I was one of the lucky few who had to wait only for a week for my doll to arrive. I had zero plans of getting her, truth be told. But my parents happened to be in the area where she's being sold, and I figured, hey, why not? The waiting time was a matter of how long it took my parents to come back home and bring in my new baby. xD

    4. 3 months. I definitely got cold feet before she arrived. I didn't bond with her very much, and looking back on it I don't think I was all that attracted to the sculpt either. It was my first and I didn't have any idea about the community back then. I'm just happy I sold her to another newcomer to the hobby who will probably love her more than I could. :3nodding:

    5. Gonna do all my dolls because I can't read instructions properly :3nodding:

If I recall correctly, I only waited a month and a half after ordering my first doll, June. She was really quick, about half the expected time. I waited about three months before ordering her, just to make sure I really wanted her.
The next, April, was somewhere around three months. Bigger doll, longer waiting time I suppose. Sent her off to an artist for a new faceup within the fortnight, which added another couple of weeks before I could enjoy having her.
The next on topic doll was January, who was on a layaway stretched over four months. She was shipped 24 hours after I made the final payment.
Around the same time as January I bought a honey delf as a gift and I think she took 4 months as well but she had complete body blushing and the weather was bad apparently. I was freaking out that she wasn't going to make it in time for Christmas.
Finally, my dollfie dream Snow Miku just got here today. I put down the pre order in Feb '15 and just got her this morning. She spent almost a week being sorted at my local post office. No idea how long she took to make but 1 year and 4 months waiting time is not a record I would ever like to beat, haha. :sweat

    6. I technically waited less than a week for my first doll since I bought her on eBay, however I did some serious research for about a years and stalked my local marketplaces before I committed to buying a bjd. I knew I wanted several different styles and sized of dolls, but I needed to narrow down my choices and pick a size and price range to start with.

    7. I waited about 4 months to get my first doll, while the website announced two months. I ordered her on December 1st 2015 and got her on April 8th 2016. :)

    8. I was expecting to wait 3 months max but I received my 1st doll in only 25 working days. Shipping only took 2 days.
I am very excited to order my 2nd doll!

    9. I waited five months for my first doll.

My doll is called Odilon. Uh, the name doesn't really have a special meaning, I like the sound of it~

For something unforgettable/special happening.. It was two years ago. If my memory's good, I remember being upset. Back then, FedEx didn't take cards for custom fees and I didn't have cash, so my package had to be redelivered the next week. It was on a Friday, the next business day was Monday ><. I was upset because I was sooo ready to receive my doll, not to wait an extra weekend;;. So impatient.

    10. Much to my surprise, I only waited a month!

    11. I wanted one in 2005 and got my first in 2006. She was a second hand 60cm Obitsu so it was only a week before she was home! She is still one of my favorites. I didn't get my second and first resin doll until 2010.

    12. I just got my first doll and it took 3 days to get to me. It is a dollfie Kos Mos that came out a few years back.

    13. It took about 5 months for me to get my first doll. Much longer than my second and my third! The most agonizing wait was for the second doll, though. It was only 3 months, but I was so excited that it felt like an eternity!! :XD:

    14. It's been four years that I have wanted a BJD now, I ordered my first ever BJD just over a week ago, so there's still waiting to go. Man I've wanted one for what feels like forever, it's hard to believe she (little monica Irin) is actually on her way here!

    15. It was a really short wait for my first bjd, a Popodoll Ramiel. I ordered him off of Alice's Collections and I was prepared for months worth of waiting but he actually got home within two weeks and I was surprised but excited :)
I thought he would take longer because of his detailed faceup but he got here before my regular doll, technically my second, my Iplehouse Akando.

    16. Do you still remember how long did you wait for your first doll ?
I can't remember the exact time, but I do remember that it was actually a lot shorter than the estimated time, like a month and a half earlier than estimated. I was SO HAPPY.
Is there any special meaning about their name??
No, not really. It was inspired by a game.
Any things special or unforgettable happened while you get them?
Yes, she has injured me several times. When I first got her she smacked forward and busted me in the lip, and then again less than an hour later, but I'd been dealing with her kicking and pivoting all day at that point so I moved and just got hit in the collar bone region.

The worst injury came when I decided to try and re-string the doll to try and address the fact she was so kicky and head butty. I was trying to get the S hook to come up even a little to remove it and I lost my grip and it cut my fingers when it slipped. At that point I gave up and just dealt with the kicking and the head butts and let her elastic stretch naturally.

    17. Still waiting for my first doll, ordered on the first of may. Dear bjd, come soon :...(

    18. I waited a long time, I remember seeing DoD Petsha when I was 12 and wanted to buy her but my parents declined and told me to spend money on something else. I waited 2 years and did a bunch of research on BJD's in general and finally found my first doll through ThinkPink which was definitly a impulse buy. It was a DragonDoll Xiao but ended up selling her about a year later.. Nowadays I do no longer like the Petsha sculpt. haha :XD:

will put a photo in of my very first doll!

    19. About a week or so
My first was in stock on dde

    20. When I first saw BJD and found the one I wanted I waited six years before I broke down and bought one. I did a three month layaway, so May of 2011. Finished payments in July and received the doll in March of 2012... Yeah over ten months before I received my first doll, but it's a Dollshe. Who is notorious for loooong wait times :sweat
