1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long did you wait?

Jun 6, 2008

    1. I discovered them about 2 months ago & bought my first MSD size doll after a month.....she's not an expensive one but I love her to bits & now I'm waiting on 2 Soul Dolls & an IpleHouse Doll....all MSD & I also love IpleHouse's BID's so I'll be getting one or two of those after the other 3 are home ;)

    2. I learned about BJDs when I got into Pullips but they were way too expensive for me. Not that I didn't have the money but I didn't think they were worth that much money. But I could never forget the sweet face of Pukifee Luna and after two years of struggling I ordered her. And ever since I got her the whole BJD thing got out of control over here^^

    3. My first one I waited only two weeks since I got her used third handed, and they had to clean her up.

My newest one, I waited for about a month for the whole thing (on pre-order; the making and shipping) for my Illusion Spirit Zhujin MSD

    4. I got a little Dollfie plus as a present from one of my best friends who had a SDC and a DP as well. The barbie scale was good enough for me for a few years, but I liked making doll clothes for the SDC and started to see how much fun my friend had and wanted to share that with her :) Once my decision was made to buy one, and working with a limited budget, choosing the best girl I could, and buying her - all took a week or so.. I have so much fun designing for her, her sister and cousins :)

    5. After about 2 months of discovering BJDs, I bought my first >.< I was lucky to have the funds available. I saw IH Cecile after a couple weeks of researching and I kept coming back to her and thinking about it for a month and half to make sure I knew it was what I wanted. After I get her, I'm going to allow more time in between the next to make sure I know EXACTLY what I want (mostly for saving up as well).

    6. Wow! That's some horrible luck... I got into BJDs around five years ago in seventh grade, so never really had a way to save money until now, and I'm about a third of the way there to buying my first doll, who is also my dream doll. If someone offered to give me the money to play for the rest, I would go for it.

    7. Oh man, I wanted a BJD when I was 11! My parents said I had to buy it myself though, so I saved and saved and saved... I ended up waiting about two years until I could buy my first doll, which happened the week before I turned 13. Now I'm 17 and I have a bunch of dolls but I didn't have to save nearly as long for most of them, which is weird, considering I don't actually make very much money and have no job... Oh well, I still have dolls anyway and that's what matters!

    8. Oh wow... my seven years of waiting seem so long in comparison to how long most people waited! >A< I found out about them when I was fourteen but didn't actually get one before I were twenty one xD

    9. I waited 4 years to get my first doll. I found the DOA anniversary Luts Abadon right before it went on sale. Saved a picture of it and never got it, forgot all about him for a while. Last november my boyfriend bought me my first doll, roughly 3 or 4 months later i got the head from the abadon release i had first found, a couple months after that i have all of that release except 4 pieces (eyes, wig, romantic head, and sword hand).

    10. I've only found out about this hobby in October last year and thought that they were pretty but never thought I would want one myself! Haha, so wrong I was. When it in November came up a YOSD girl for sale for quite cheapish price and I liked her I couldn't resist buying her. I love her and now I've got a total of 4 dolls and one head. I regret NOTHING! It is a lovelt hobby and I feeling more creative and happy than I've never done before. It was so worth it and I don't care about what my family members, boyfriend or friends are saying. My best friend support me and that's enough for me and I've met so many lovely dollpeople since I started within this hobby :)

    11. I bought my first doll on a whim. MoC was at an anime convention I was at, and I decided to buy one of their dolls. I thought they were gorgeous, but I knew nothing about the community. I fell in absolute love with everything about this hobby, and now have 12 dolls.:sweat

    12. I started looking at dolls about 2 1/2-3 years ago, but I did not have the funds to buy anything at that time. I started actually buying dolls probably about a year and a half ago when I started making some spending money from my artwork.

    13. I think it was about two years for me, maybe three? I did wait pretty long. I got some little (OT) Obitsus, but I still wanted bigger dolls ... I just couldn't decide on one, so I waited. Then I discovered Iplehouse, and that was pretty much when I decided to shell old OCs of mine (the oldest, as it were - funny, I used to write stories about my Barbies' characters and these were the first OCs I created that didn't have a doll form ... for 18 years. Now they're BJDs. Dafuq? ). A while after that Stella was released, pushed Eva from pole position and came home as my first BJD. :)

    14. I am still waiting. :-)
Saw my first BJD a couple of years ago. It was a ver cute otter. :-)

    15. To be honest, the first time I contemplated joining the BJD community and hobby overall, I ordered two like the week after, LOL. They weren't impulsive buys at all in the end, I think I just got quite lucky and found two that I really and truly adored, and their sculpts spoke out to me immediately unlike many who even hold a place on my wishlist still.

    16. Hmmm... I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before, but maybe those threads died?

It took me a month to decide I wanted a doll, research what was available and read everything I could about them, before I bought my first doll. What can I say? I can be a bit obsessive...!

I mostly worried about the price. These dolls are expensive! But if someone can afford one and really wants one, then why not?

I don't worry about changing my mind. I usually like something, think about it for days/weeks/months, then decide one way or the other--buy or not buy, and haven't ever fallen out of love with it. But that's me, and everyone is different! So you have to figure that out on your own, I think.

    17. 4 months to get my Doll Leaves Kiki and I think I might end up waiting till Christmas for my Doll Love YouYou cause I gotta get my car's turning light fixed.

    18. I discovered BJDs eight years before I got my first doll :/ And the doll I eventually bought? I discovered it four to five years ago. I haven't got enough money before this traineeship.

    19. I waited for years before buying one, or to actually be able to afford one without being totally broke after, then i got 2 dolls almost at the same time.<3

    20. From the time I discovered BJDs til the time I bought one....probably 2-3 years? At the time, I was making just barely above minimum wage, part time, and in school and trying to pay bills on my apartment. Squeezing out enough to buy a Bratz or Barbie doll was nearly impossible at the time, and the thought of affording a $500 doll was just unrealistic. I didn't think I'd ever be able to afford one, so I just enjoyed looking at others and put away any of thoughts of me actually being able to ever own one.

Things got better after I got out of school and got promoted at work. My boyfriend and sister moved in with me to help with bills, and about a month before I got married, I FINALLY decided I could afford a BJD. From the point when I decided to I would get Amir to the time I actually paid for him was about 2 weeks. I cleaned out my apartment and sold everything I could possibly sell that I didn't need. Every penny I spent on him came from selling to secondhand stores, flea markets, yard sales, etc. He was only $183 including shipping (AoD Chen), so it didn't take too terribly long to afford him and get him some eyes, wig and shoes. I made all of his first outfits, and painted him myself.
