1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long did you wait?

Jun 6, 2008

    1. I don't feel so alone anymore! Although for me it was less a matter of money (although it did factor in the very beginning) and more a matter of research and determination to commit to it.

    2. I waited five years before ordering my first doll. And now I'm waiting for meeting him - and these two months seem like eternity!

    3. I waited 2 years, but not for lack of trying. I would say go for it if you will still be financially sound, because bjds rarely disappoint. :)

    4. I knew of BJDs since a few years back, and have only just purchased one this past week. So... I suppose I was waiting to see if I truly wanted it. Ahaha! In fact, I only really just found a few that have caught my interest by a mountain... Which is surprising because I've looked at these dolls quite often before I took interest in them. The attachment after having a lot of ideas must be what happened. Hehe.

    5. I got interested in bjds about three or four years ago. I found a doll I really liked not long after that, but I didn't have the funds for a doll for a long time. I just got a job and if I can't find my grail relatively soon on the secondhand market, I have some others picked out I may go for. So I guess I have waited three to four years (and counting.)

    6. Well a little over 2 years ago I was really wanting a Pullip when I found a girl who had Pullips and BJDs. Instantly, I was taken by how beautiful her BJDs were and I began to research. It took me until March of this year to finally convince my mom to agree to let me buy one. In August, I ordered two more and I'm trying to save money to buy an SD sized one >.< goodness once you get one you just can't stop!

    7. From deciding I wanted my own doll to ordering about 3 weeks. I decided I wanted a msd shiwoo and bought a soom megagem XD damm soom and there awesome free choice event XD

    8. I first discovered them when I was 13 or 14, I think, so three-ish years ago. I thought they were cool, but saw a look at some of their prices and went "heck no!" The number of brands, customization options, and prices utterly boggled my younger self. I'd periodically go and check them out every so often, whenever I really wanted to shell a character, but never got that far into it. Then I found 1/6 Obitsus--not quite BJDs, but close enough! Then I got Leah, my BBB Ariel, for winter solstice last year. So two and a half years? I'm glad I waited; I was kind of a jerk when I was younger and I wouldn't trust myself with resin.

    9. the same,I learned about BJDs when I got into Pullips but i've waited for one year before ordering my first because I wasn't sure that i'm gonna to like it , but when she came home I felt instantanly in love with her and I caught the BJD virus ^^

    10. I waited about 3ish years. When I first discovered BJDs, I didn't have a job, so I couldn't buy one. I had decided I'd get one if I did good in university, but I ended up burned out, and ordered my DZ Megi at the end of April 2012. Then less than a month later I went to an anime convention, and a lady at the BJD panel had a Souldoll/Doll Family hybrid for sale that I fell in love with. In just over a year since I ordered my first doll, I had 3. >.>

    11. I found out about BJDs in March of 2011. By mid-August that year, I had my first BJD. I only waited as long as A) how long it took to get the money, B) how long it took to decide which doll I wanted, C) the amount of time it took to get my room clean (I was 16 at the time, and my parents said that I couldn't have a doll until I had cleaned my room) and D) to be granted marketplace access. I got my first doll as fast as I could, because as soon as I saw my friend's first BJD up close and understood how amazing BJDs are, I was hooked.

    12. I first became interested in BJDs way back in high school, 2003 or thereabouts when I was really starting to get into Japanese culture/anime/music. I didn't know anybody back then who actually had one and they were way out of my price range, so I didn't really think about buying one until I went to Japan in 2009. However, my choice there came down to spending a week in Kyoto vs. visiting the Volks showroom in Tokyo and getting a doll. I chose the week in Kyoto, and I was happy with that. I came back from Japan without a doll, and that was fine.

It wasn't until a couple months ago, April or May of this year, that I met my friend (ankhensepnamun on here) and all her dolls and my interest owning a BJD was rekindled. I'd been planning to wait until I actually had money to order a doll (or two or three or four...) but then I ran into Absinthe, my first, at Anime Iowa in July and she loaned me the cash I needed to buy him right then and there.:)

As of right now, I'm planning for five more dolls - a female companion for Absinthe, three MSD-sized dolls which are characters from one of my books, and my grail doll (which I'm saving for now and will order next July).

    13. At this time, i'm waiting for almost 2month to buy my doll. It was terrible memory :(

    14. Took me like half a year to get my first BJDs

    15. My friends had had BJDs for well over a year before I took the plunge. Most of them preferred SDs which I've never liked very much so I was never really interested in getting my own. For the longest time, I didn't realize they came any smaller but once I knew that, the decision was far easier. It took me a couple of months to decide I wanted one , and then a few weeks after that when I finally made my choice. So... probably close to two years after being first introduced to BJDs.

    16. Hmmm i don't know exactly how long but i know it was a long time, at least three or four years. I had only heard about them and looked at pictures but knew i would never buy one because of their price tag. Then a couple years later.. one of my friends took the plunge and bought one. Somehow that made it OK for me to buy one for whatever reason in my mind lol. Then one became two... then two and a head and then of course the head needed a body! so they became three. then i stopped for awhile and i was out of the hobby for a bit. and then i recently got back into it and now i have 4 dolls and one O.T doll. but no more i swear! (lets see how long it takes for this to become a lie lol)

    17. I waited years too just like surreality until I came across a doll I really wanted to own. When I saw him, I decided to go for it since I know how some dolls can become out of stock or out of production or have the next version or batch of release. But, I don't know if the next batch would be the same as the one I wanted so I just went for it. And now, I am happy. :fangirl::fangirl::fangirl:

    18. I have not wait for a long time. I had pullips and discovered BJD, i bought my first one 2 months later

    19. It was about 4-5 years ago, when I discovered that BJDs do actually exist xD. Then I learned about their custamisation potential (just by chance) and then started dreaming about one. I've not actually seriously thought I would have one, because of thinking that they're even more expensive than they actually are xD. I don't know why I didn't check it O_o
And only in winter of this year I felt like I need to find one for myself and buy it. Fortinately, I had some money from my birthday then and... I finally bought my first BJD only in June. :3

    20. i discovered bjds in april and was hesitant so i waited after a month or so. i then decided to get my first bjd and i believe the wait for him was 3 months..?~ at first, i asked my mom to buy him and she said no but then she thought about it for a while and agreed to pay half of the price while i paid for the rest. i should say it worked out nicely.~
