1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long is too long for wait times?

Apr 12, 2018

    1. I think 3-4 months are acceptable. More than that is just too long for me. However, I ordered a Dollshe Saint (as I see I'm not alone haha) in December 2010 and he arrived to me in March 2012. It was a real pain in the neck :doh

    2. I don't think I could even do six months. I'm a bit impatient, so far most of my dolls were purchased from dealers that had them in stock so I only had to wait for shipping. I think over four-five months counts as too long for me.

    3. I am fine with 5 or 6 months. By that time the dolls are a nice surprise and the pain of paying for them is long in my past, so I can enjoy them as a "present" to myself... (I know I'm deluding myself, but that's just how it feels...)

    4. I prefer less than 5 months. Under 2 ideally...... I've never been submitted to the long end of waits for dolls, but I've definitely been a bit salty about some kickstarter projects I've backed that took over a year only to turn out to be really lackluster projects. I feel like the longer I wait, the more time it has to stew in my head that it has to be "perfect." if I don't straight up get distracted or someone releases something I want more.

    5. Dollshe.
In all seriousness, I think any kind of wait time is fine as long as you manage to not lose your enthusiasm, but when you almost forget what you ordered and even any news regarding your order feels like a miracle, that's a bit too much. :sweat
As the first doll I ordered took 6 months to get to me, that's my basis for reasonable delivery times.

    6. 3-4 months is my limit; I start getting antsy otherwise. Denver Doll ordered my Doll Chateau Snowborn for me on February 28, and I knew right up it would be about six months to make the doll, so I’m anticipating him coming home around September, since he was ordered on the very last day of the month. I’m still dying of anxiety anyway.:XD:

On the bright side, this does give me time to finish up the other half of his intended pair!

    7. 3-6 is what i'm willing to wait at this point. i don't have any interest in companies like dollshe that take more than that so i think i'm safe. ((knocks on wood))

    8. I can wait for about a year if I buy from a indepent artist.
(Although I haven't buy this kind of dolls.)
I usually choose the big doll company so that will be under 6 months.

    9. I've waited over a year for one of my Dollshes, and personally I don't mind the wait as long as the company is posting regular updates if they experience delays. I've also waited 7-9 months for IoS character dolls, but this was clearly stated on the order page. I've grown accustom to waiting long periods of time and it really doesn't bother me anymore

    10. 2-3 months is my absolute maximum. Any longer than that, and my anxiety would eat me alive. I don't have any interest in companies like Dollshe that are notorious for taking much longer, so I stick with companies that have fairly consistent waiting times like Luts, Iplehouse and Volks.

    11. My ideal wait time varies depending on how expected it is. I didn't mind waiting a year for my Miku, and I don't mind waiting a year for my Doctor Strange, because I understand that the sale model was a mockup, that they're spending the next year actually preparing the dolls to ship, and Volks (not so much IoS) gave regular updates on the progress of developing Miku. They were also completely transparent ahead of time about how long the wait would be.

However, an unexpected long wait time... would be less desirable. If the doll is supposed to ship in three months and three months becomes eight (I've never had that happen to me, fortunately, but I've heard horror stories) I would definitely be getting extremely anxious.

    12. I'm ready to wait a long time if it's what I agreed for at the beginning, 6 months isn't unsusual.
But I think it's unfair and almost a trickery when a company says that a preorder will take 4 months and it's still not ready after 6 even 8 months.
They don't even give some news, and when I ask, they answer that it isn't their fault, it's the factory, the paintings or what so ever...
They should give compensation if they are not able to fulfill the conditions.

    13. I'm looking at.... 3-7 months! It wouldn't be so bad but...its my first doooooooll.. I have nothing to distract me!

    14. Anything over 4 months is toooooo long. I had placed two orders with dollzone a few years back within a month of each other. I was quoted 3-4 months for the shipping for both orders and It ended up being about 8-9 months for each order. By the time I got them, I was no longer interested in doing anything with them. They sat in there boxes for over a year before I finally used them.

    15. D: Oh no! I like doll zone but that is way too long of a wait!

    16. Sometimes even waiting for a secondhand or in stock doll to ship seems like forever to me. xD;; I admire the people who have the patience to wait 6+ months for a doll and still be enthusiastic about them when they arrive!

    17. For DZ, 6 months is totally normal. I used to ordered a doll from DZ, the waiting time they give me was 3-6 months, and they literally used 6 months. Now, they just tell you, you need wait for 6 months. As a result of I have lots of dolls, waiting time is not a big problem for me since I have other dolls that I can play with. However, I do not recommend to buy a doll from DZ is there is your first one.

For other doll company, the waiting time used to be 2-4months. Recently, LUTS just cut their waiting period at about one month, incredible! For the doll that I really wanted, I can wait as long as it takes, but it is normally I felt in love with others and forget about it...

    18. Hmm, I waited 2 and a half months for my first doll and it was hard wait. But worth it! I don't think I am patient enough to go over 6 months... even 4 would feel like a life time! But for the right doll, a 6 month wait should be worth it. So I'll say between 4-6 months, depending on how much I desire the doll!

    19. I didn't waited too long for the doll because a lot of my doll came from other owners. But I have been waited for my doll make-up for almost a half-year and it was a unbear-able long time.TAT

    20. a doll i'm waiting for right now just squeaked past the 4 month mark, which is still bearable for me. i think half a year or longer would start to feel like a long wait although it would depend on how much i want the doll!
