How Many Dolls Did You Buy Your First Year?

...I just took a look at my profile and the answer is "more than I thought." I'd honestly thought that, during the first 12 month period, I'd only brought home about 4 dolls or so, but counting them up, it's actually 7 + 1 floating faceplate (who got her body in the next 12-month period). I only have a total of 12 + 1 floating head right now, so that's a lot more substantial than I thought.

Technically one more was ordered during that time, but didn't come home for a few months after that; I'm only counting when dolls actually arrived, not when they were ordered. And all but that one who was ordered during that time are still here, with none going anywhere any time soon!

As for the "did you finish" question... I think with that first rush, I actually did finish them off, but the floating faceplate and the last two to arrive in that series didn't get "finished" at that time. One of the original ones still needs work done on her wig, but is "close" at least (the wig-work is tedious so I tend to drag my feet on it), and one of the last ones has been faceupped and has her wig in progress now... the floating faceplate is sitting nearby, a faceup/blushing in her very near future... but I still have work to do on that first set, and they came home in 2008-2009. Whoops.

 

How many dolls did you purchase in your first year of collecting? I only purchased 1 because I was a ppoor uni student. And I was content with that. I never imagined I would actually have more!

Did you finish your first doll before buying more? My first doll isn't complete but he's almost there. He's in the process of getting a new faceup and after that he should be complete... as in the complete base character. Of course said character will continue to evolve as he has been these past year ^^

Anyway I will soon have a 3 doll family as i've ordered a new girl and my new guy is set to arrive Saturday. There has been over a 3 year gap between my dolls but i can better afford the hobby now so I can complete my baby and his new friends

 

I actually wasn't too bad about spending when I got my first girl. It was at least a few months before my second doll came in. And when My first, Audrey arrived I made sure I had everything for her, even though looking back her first faceup, clothes... some was pretty bad xD. Although in the last year I've gotten quite a few more than I thought I would!

 

To be honest it's been so many years ago that I don't remember. I know I started off with 2 at once, Elfdoll's Red & June, followed by some Ebay finds like Cocorri, the big Narin & Narae. I think I also picked up some Souldoll boys as well. Now don't think I was rolling in money, I'd just sold off an entire collection of some other dolls & so had cash to play with unlike today when I just bought my first 2 dolls in two years. Thank goodness for Paypal's Bill Me Later as it gives me time to pay off the dolls over 6 months with no interest & I know I can manage that.

 

Three so far. I'm probably going to be drowning in them in a few years ^-^

 

I started July of 2008. The first year i got about 30-ish dolls. I currently have 172 with 14 more on order.

 

My first year I bought just one doll. I like to take my time with my dolls, the most I can get is 2 dolls per year and in different times.

 

LOL I just committed to #6! It's a re-homing of one from a local club member (one I've been hinting at kidnapping since the first time I saw him LOL)

I ordered Charles on August 2012, and I bought Hizuru on January 2013...

Means I got two in one year!

 

I started April 2008 with Lati yellow, I got like 40 of them that year. But the fever paused for like more than 1 year, and I'm back now.

 

Well, the first year I joined the hobby I didn't have any doll, but this 2013 I bought the first one, I got another and two heads more ;o; and I'm really happy about it

 

I bought 1 in my first year, and I already thought that was nuts considering the prices I paid for things up to that point (figures, manga, etc), so it was a good few years after till I got another ^^;

 

eh heh... bought #7 and he should be arriving with #5 right around my 1st year anniversary (or shorty after depending )

 

I just had my first year, and I bought two! I'm not sure what counts as 'finished', though. The first was certainly presentable enough when I bought the second, including hair, eyes, face and bodyblush. I intend to do more, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's unfinished, exactly.

 

In my first year....I ordered my first doll in March, 2 in May, another one in June, 2 more dolls + a floating head in December. So 6 dolls + a floating head altogether.

My first is always a work in progress coz she didn't come with any clothes.
The second one was a limited set so she's complete.
By the 3rd and 4th, I got smart and ordered them with clothes - both are complete as of now.
Still waiting for dolls 5 and 6 and the floating head - they will give me a challenge since I didn't order any clothes for them.

How did I end up with so many dolls? I stopped spending my money on anything else, that's how.

 

hmmmmm if by first year u mean 12 months (from the month i paid <<not received my doll) then i already passed my first year

i ordered my first doll (souldoll kagel at january 2013 but recieved him towards the end of april 2013)

and from then till now i bought....
5 SDs... 1 msd, 1 iplehouse kid 9not sure if i consider him msd)
and 2 minis (an azone girl and a soom mini gem)
which leaves me at:.... 9 i think?
I have 2 sds that i just ordered this month..LOL

i have not sold any of my dolls and have no intention if that yet ^-^ *only sold my 2nd doll's body for a gender change*
i only have 2 more characters i need to fill which will be purchased later
(then my family will be completed )

 

I got two within my first year. DoC Si full set was my first, then a few months later I had my TF Sarang in hand. :3 I've gotten two more within this passed year, two Kid Delfs (well, three if you count disembodied heads.) Then, I plan to get my first two 1/3 sized dolls within the next few months&#8230; Two seems to be the magic number for me. It just seems so right. XD

 

I got two in my first year, and it's still the first year for me. Linnaeus came to me in summer of 2013 and I'm currently awaiting arrival of my second doll. I don't think there'll be more dolls in my first year, I don't have too many savings left, haha.

 

I just started in March 2013 and I bought 12 dolls in my first year.

 

I bought one doll my first year (2012) and seven dolls the following year.
