How Many Dolls Did You Buy Your First Year?

2013 was my first year and I bought 3.

It's barely into 2014 and I've got one on the way.

 

I'm not sure if i posted in here before, but here it is in case i havent XD

I purchased 7 floating heads and 11 full dolls (one is still being worked on and is a gift for a friend, and one has been sold since)

I was happy with my one doll for a while, was gifted my second doll from a friend who thought i needed a mood boost when my daughter was in the hospital, and it went downhill from there XD

Well, personally i dont think any of my dolls will EVER be finished finished. i'm always making them new things, getting them a new pair of something or other. their wig color and eyes are fairly set tho as soon as i find the one that just screams "YES! ITS ME!" at me when it goes on the doll. My first girl, i already had the perfect eyes and wig set aside before she was even purchased :3 (a friend sent me eyes he knew i would just adore and i picked out and bought the wig online about a year before getting the doll). She got her 5th outfit a few months ago around my birthday and i still need to get her proper shoes XD i'm also looking into getting her a few more wigs (so i can have more than one hair style on her, sadly i dont think they make the styles i want yet XD)

 

How many dolls did you purchase in your first year of collecting? Did you stay content with your first doll for a while, did you immediately start buying more, or do you still just have your one doll?

I purchased 3 dolls in my first year of collecting if counting my floating head that remained without a body for another 3 months...If not then it's 5dolls and a floating head. Yes I bought my second doll 2 months before my first one actually ^^

Similarly, Did you finish your first doll before buying more? My first still needs eyes and clothes and I'm in the middle of redoing his faceuop for the third time and finishing his tattoos. I find I buy resin faster than eyes or clothes!
Absolutely no! My fist doll was still a floating head when I bought my second one and then actually arrived home as a whole (head with body) at approximately the same time !

 

I ended up getting a second doll within a year of my first doll. The only time of year I got the money is the holidays so I'll probably continue buying them each year. My first doll needs some more clothes and wigs but she came with a faceup that I enjoy so I would say she was done. Don't think I'll ever be done buying clothes and accessories for my dolls.

 

I...I uh, I guess in my first year I technically had/have five-ish. One's a head so I guess 4 and a half...maybe? Really, my first year was doll-less and then I got a head and then a doll and the other's are on layaway, but I still count them as owned...so...either 1 1/2 or 4 1/2...

 

My first year ... just one. I'm in my second year and have already ordered two!

 

Hmm....well I started the hobby in January 2012 (my first doll meet) and I didn't have any dolls until I believe sometime in February? So I guess it's my second year but it feels like so long ago . Counting from Feb 2012 - Feb 2013 I bought 7 dolls...I think xD. My first doll was the Saber Extra DD pre-order, and she took a year to arrive, so before she came, I got quite a few to fill the void lol. All my dolls were 'finished' in the sense that I knew what their character would be, and I colour-coded all my girls . So it was really then looking for the perfect eyes and wigs, and it took many tries but by the end of the first year, I think I had most of their looks down. So yeah...I went a little crazy I think xD.

Though I kind of feel bad because I didn't mark down any of my girl's anniversaries >.<. I don't know why I didn't and I kind of regret it since it will be hard to find when all of them came

 

Way back in my first year, using either the twelve months or the anniversary date, I bought two dolls and a head. In a way the first doll was complete when I the second arrived. However he changed quite a bit over the years, but he and his boyfriend, the second doll, are still mine. The head never became a full doll and after a while I sold him.

Well I'd love to say that I compleated my doll and was satisfied with Zhou for at least one year. But no, as he is a growing character he will never be "compleate". But he had his eyes, face up and Wig. 9months later he had a companion, and around the date I ordered my first doll but a year later, I did my third.... Afterwards it calmed down a bit^^ until I got three in a row in less than 6 months.
Yep resin comes in batches for me, and one is soooooo screeming to be bought right now. A pity I can't get my hands on it.... yet.

 

Errr... Slightly embarrassing, actually... I have one in my possession and three on the way and I just started buying them this month. I've been planning this for literally YEARS, though. A couple of them have been on my wishlist for, well, years! It's just been sort of 'all at once' I could actually afford them and bring them home. It would have been three but finding another that was on my wishlist being sold second hand prompted another purchase. I'm a little ashamed at how many I've bought in such a short period of time but.. yeah.. In a few months I won't have the disposable income I have right now so I'm kinda having fun while I can, I suppose.

 

Ehh... *embarrassed* I've been in the hobby for 11 months now and I think the tally is at 13 as of right now (14 once I adopt my friend's doll). I never really managed to bond with the first two, so I'm looking to sell those. The others all grew into one interconnected story that sort of kept gaining characters and dolls. Most are adopted though, only three of them (including my first) are entirely new and one has a head that's new. I keep seeing awesome dolls for sale that need rescuing...

 

I got two full dolls ( Dikadoll Murong and Loongsoul MuChen ) and one head within my first year. And else two dolls were on pre-order.

 

Okay I did some looking at dates and such... My anniversaries (order & receive) are Feb. 23/13 & March 4/13 (in stock items from US to Canada... woot! ^^)

As of Feb 5/14 I made my last payment on a layaway which was my only not yet paid doll to date. It will arrive well before my original dolls arrival date. And if I am not miscalculating my other 'still in the making process' doll should also arrive by March. He might push the dates a bit though because of the companies high volume of orders -_-. But I will count him as arrived (even if he isn't technically) in my FIRST year.
I will have a total of:
~ 6 full dolls - 4 SD over 65 cm, 1 MSD (42), and 1 tiny (26)
~ one spare body (in need of a head 'maybe')
~ one floating head (definitely in need of a body
~ one floating head to go with a full doll (human & centaur versions). May eventually get it's own body?
Not too bad for a year ... right?

What I bought in clothing for them though pales in comparison to the actual dolls >< lol

 

I bought my first doll secondhand at the tail end of 2012, got him at the beginning of 2013. I bought three more dolls... technically four, but one hasn't arrived yet, during 2013.

I didn't "finish" my first doll before I bought another, and I'll tell you why: my first doll was bought secondhand because I had missed the opportunity to get him from the company; they stopped producing him before I had the money. So my goal is to buy the dolls I really really love before they go out of production (only one more!) and then spoil them all. They're not all blank and nude though, I do buy things for them. I'm just scared of losing another opportunity - forever this time.

 

Within my first 12 months I went from 0-4? (Zee, Lori, Chula, Phoebe.) I think... I like to look at calendar years versus hobby years. Then the number goes down. XD

 

I think I bought three dolls the first year but I can't really remember.

 

I haven't even been in the hobby a year and I have three....I'm bad I know....

 

It's all right. XD I think I've hit three a year myself. And then when I realize how many dolls that is, I tell myself to stop.--And yet i always find myself looking at new dolls... I've tried to limit myself on doll purchases as a resolution for 2014. And I think that is so going to break by March. x.x

 

I really think I just want one more. I keep my dolls stored with their stuff at the top of my computer desk/hutch thingy. I do this to limit myself cause there's not much room and it's filling up quickly. One more doll and her stuff will be all that will fit I think lol.
