How many of the same molds will you get?

Jul 6, 2011

    1. I think the most I have of any given mold is two.

Because I have two Floy heads; one with factory default faceup, and the one I toyed with faceups on. I also ordered two Benkel heads from Dollclans; one with faceup and one blank.

It really is amazing how much difference a faceup can make, though.

    2. I don't have them yet, and would get them one at a time, but I've been thinking a trio of BBB/RS Pixiu in three different fantasy colors would be pretty cool. Other than that I don't think I'd want more than one of most head sculpts because there are so many different ones, but multiples of the same body would be fine. I'm only interested in 1/6 scale tinies so there aren't too many choices.

    3. I just recently finally got my hands on a second MNF Juri'11 head so I can make twins. |3 I haven't considered getting duplicates before, but the Juri 2011 is definitively my all time favourite sculpt, and I want to make another personality with the same face, and my Riddle HAS a twin, sooooo... /soexcited to finish him up sob

    4. I don't have any of the 'same' sculpts more than once but I do have dreaming and regular heads & a CP Delf and Mnf versions of doll.

I'd looooove to have more of some of my dolls. ;)

    5. I'd wondered for a long time about this topic. I understood having head options (open eyed, closed, etc) but hadn't understood the multiples for different characters until recently. About 2 years ago, I bought a Dollshe Bernard head so I could work on faceups while I saved for his body, which I planned to get later. Then the Pure Body Event came along so now I have 2 OE heads and one SA head. I had planned to use the OE heads for a story I'm working on to represent 2 aspects of his personality. His 'default' head faceup turned out great. It's Ethan. The SA head turned out very close to his OE head.

The other head, I've redone the faceup a few times and the recent faceup turned out to be my best effort to date. I tried smaller, more natural sized eyes and it wasn't Ethan. Nothing made for Ethan worked this this guy. I stared into this guy's face and it is simply someone else. I don't know who he is yet, but I feel like I just got a new doll, even though they have to share the same body but I don't mind (although he might ;))

    6. I've got two Unoa Akubi heads I want to make into twin sisters. Never got to it lol

    7. At the moment I only ave one sculpt I absolutely love enough to get more then two of,and for that one I don't have a set cut off number;I'll pretty much go until I either run out of money or run out of ideas to make them into totally different characters. :sweat

    8. I think I have so many dolls on my wishlist that I'd never be able to afford more than one of a sculpt. I prefer some variety anyway, so I haven't found any sculpt I've loved so much I'd get two of them.

    9. I like variety too much to buy two of the same mold. I've thought about buying a twin before but decided I'd rather have all different sculpts instead.

    10. I have a Resinsoul Ya, and I keep contemplating getting a Resinsoul Mei, which is the same sculpt, but with elf ears. So she'd have an elf twin, maybe in a different colored resin. I can't get that idea out of my head... ;)

    11. I have...Four of the same company just not same mold...I got just about every eyehole head for it.

    12. I will not buy the same mold twice since I would like to have a variety of companies and molds.:) I think the only time I would buy two of the same mold is if I want twin dolls, or if the mold just happens to fit two different characters.

    13. I'd get two or three max and make them twins or triplets or even siamese twins.

    14. With all the beautiful dolls out there I only permit myself one of each. I want a diverse collection where my love for one doll is not spread among two or three or four... For me, one is enough. ;)

    15. I would go for the same mold if they're variations of it. For example I would go for the open-eyed, close-eyed, and fantasy versions of a mold that I really really like. I actually even have plans to get another Luts Abadon but for an opened eyed version since I have the dreaming ver already. He's pretty much one of my favorite molds to the point that I would want to buy every version I can of him!

    16. I just ordered my second Ducan from Dream of doll~ I've been planning to order him for a long time and my plans include at least another 3 of the same in the future. I want so many of the same doll mainly because I love DoD's faceups and want to own them all on my favourite sculpt. Also because I want to have a bunch of guys who have the same sculpt but different personalities. I kind of want to see how different I can make 5+ of the "same doll", I guess. I don't think it needs to LOOK LIKE they're all the same.

    17. The dolls for my story are individuals. None of them are even from the same company to prevent them looking alike.
I am getting 2 Old Saint heads from DollShe, but only b/c they're discontinuing their male line :'( i'm going to keep one as a floating head, though.
I think if I did get another of the same sculpt I would keep comparing it to the old one. I have a tendency to get attached to things the way they are, even if they are yellowed, chipped, or flawed.

    18. I tend to be a "1 sculpt = 1 doll" collector.
I collect fashion doll too and I last year I reduced my collection by deciding I will only own one sculpt of each.
      But I have an exception:
My favorite sculpt is MSdoll/Soolee Drayton. When Msdoll released the Drayton2, I was extremely happy because I wanted the Drayton1 since the longest time but it was too rare and out of my reach. Then I won another Drayton2 head at a photo contest and because it was an extra head I decided I will have a Kesha make-up for him (because usually I custom my dolls myself). So I had 2 wonderful Draytons2, which look completely different from each other. they are really different characters, not even brothers.
Then I suddenly found a Drayton1, my grail, on the secondary market at an incredible price and, thanks to Catdancer, he is now mine. But what will I do with 3 Draytons?? I decided to sell my first one because I couldn't let go the one with the Kesha custom.
But, now, I regret it. Each time I look at my old photos, I feel I miss my first Drayton2. And I can't buy him back, because his new owner has modded him so he's not the same.
I think this is pretty silly, but if I didn't had to sell my first, I wouldn't mind owning the 3 Drayton heads now even if they would be floating heads in boxes. ^^

    19. I don't really see any reason to get multiples of one head, but I would see getting more than one body.
I really like Iplehouse bodies, so making hybrids with all Iple bodies probably could happen with me. XD

    20. for me, if I ever wanted to buy 2 of the same mold, I might want Volks SD F01, because her face is kind that can many expressions and personalities depending on faceup she's getting ^__^
