1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How many of the same molds will you get?

Jul 6, 2011

    1. I plan on multiple heads for one of my dolls so she can have different makeup for different outfits, but other than that I don't plan on having more than one of any sculpt (a space issue mostly). I can see the appeal of owning more than one of the same sculpt, especially in different sizes the way fairyland makes them. I just don't have the space unless they're pukipukis lol, at that point I could definitely see me owning multiples!

    2. I only have one set of true "twins" (though the characters are cousins), because at the time I got them, the only way to get a cat-face on anything larger than a Puki was to order it as a MNM (it's nice to see the options have changed with time). Since I wanted to do at least those two at the start, the only way I could do it was two of the same MNM, and I don't mind that at all!

I do have multiple sizes, though, of CP Shiwoo; I wouldn't get more than one full in the same size because the face speaks to me as a specific character, but I clearly don't mind having that character in multiple sizes! I also wouldn't mind getting my hands on a couple of the special event heads that I could swap out onto him at different times, too, but I wouldn't have any of the extra heads as separate full dolls.

    3. It's an interesting question. I've had two at most and often in different resin colors. I usually end up keeping only one.

    4. I would have to say two. However, they would have to be identical twins. I don't think I could own two of the same sculpt and not have them be identical twins. I would just look at the one I got second and go, "Oh, you're a (insert name here)." It'd be so hard to separate the two.

I do think, however, I could get two extremely similar sculpts (like Bobobie Ophelia and Bobobie Rachael) and have them related or buy a sculpt I have and then have parts of it modded, and then be related.

I also couldn't have the same sculpt, but with different ears. Bobobie, Resinsoul, and some others have been known to do this. Like, I have a Resinsoul Mei. She has a human counterpart, and I don't think that I could own the human version.

I also wouldn't be very interested in companies that make the same face in different sizes. It would just end up being the same doll for me, but a different age, and I couldn't have the same doll twice.

    5. Well I ended up with 3 FL Shiwoo's.
But I have to say that they are all different. One original MNF head, one modded sleeping head and the 3rd is a LTF. But yeah all are of the Shiwoo mold. He's just so cute :)

    6. Aaaand eating my words. *nom* I'd totally get two of Iplehouse's Bliss sculpt, one in normal skin (head ordered via split) and one in realskin to be my RS Bibiane's daughter in an alternate storyline. Yup, that's another dolly rule right out the window :sweat

    7. I have three of my favorite doll, Bambicrony Emily. ♥ Two of them are the open eyed version and one is sleeping. If I was going to buy another doll...I'd consider another Emily. She's just so cute. XD

    8. I just realized, I DO have multiples of one sculpt XD I have 3 Adamelli/Shale dolls lol. Two are boys and one is a girl, the reason it didn't stick out until a moment ago is only one is complete lol

    9. I never thought that this would be something that I would do, but just recently I purchased a Picro from the original Soom release, and I think if they did a free choice I would want to get her in Cream White as well, because she is probably my favorite mold right now.

I do have two Fairyland Chloes (1 Feeple 65 and 1 MNF) but they are different skintones and dressed so differently that I don't really consider them the same. I also have a LTF and MNF Juri 13 heads that I plan to be sisters eventually (once I get them both bodys).

    10. I usually get two, sometimes three of my favorite sculpts. I've done this already with my unoa's, sooms and my msdoll's. I love the diversity of the different looks depending on the faceup and wig colors.

    11. I have two Iplehouse EID Luna Tamer Chimeras, plus extra human hands and feet. Then I also have two Pipos Charlottes alike except for their clothes. Then there is the SoulDoll Yeon-Bee of which I only have one but do have an extra head. [email protected] I like having the same ones except for wigs and faceups. I too have many floating heads. In fact, I made an effort to get more. :love

    13. If Volks Suiseiseki came in sunlight skin, I'd so get another and wouldn't bat a lash at adopting her. :)

    14. haha whenever i like a sculpt i want twins of them. but i wonder just how many sets of twins i could have before i look totally mad. I would have many but i can't afford them :(

    15. Once upon a time, shortly after I joined the hobby, I purchased a black Elfdoll Catsy from Junky Spot. Then I saw some white Catsys on flickr and thought that I'd really like one of those but Elfdoll wasn't selling kitties at the time so I found one in the marketplace. About a year later, Elfdoll started selling Catsys again, but the bodies and face-ups were slightly different, plus they added a white boy, so I got the new girl and boy. That made four dolls with the same sculpt, but I never even thought of it that way until someone pointed it out to me. I actually wondered why anyone would get more than one of any sculpt when there are so many choices out there! But if Elfdoll had ever come out with different colors of the original sculpt (I was always hoping for a pink one) I probably would have bought those too.

I also have a Souldoll Soul-Kid Pin with an extra, winking, head. It was an event gift, but I love having two versions of her.

But my only truly identical dolls are my two Unidoll Selinas. When I discovered her, Unidoll still appeared to be in business, but they weren't selling Selina any more. However, I found her on the Doll Peddlar website and ordered her. I have quite a few dolls, but if I were forced to pick a favorite I think she would be the one. I always worried that if something happened to her I wouldn't be able to replace her, since Unidoll disappeared, so when I saw a Geisha face-up version of her head on the marketplace, I scooped it up.

However, I also knew that Doll Peddlar still listed her for sale so last year I finally broke down and bought her again. It turned out that was the last one. So now I have the Selina twins plus the geisha version which I can pop on a different body if I want to take a pic of all three.

There were two other sculpts I considered buying twice, but it didn't work out. I'm not tempted by any more at the moment, but, never say never.

    16. I think the only thing that would tempt me would be obtaining tan versions of my dolls, but I will do my best not to do it. It's so much money!!

    17. I'm not sure how many I would need but I've considered several of the same heads just to be modded with different expressions or just different face ups (for different expressions).

    18. I don't know if I'll ever have multiples of the same exact mold... But I do plan on getting a Minifee and a Feeple60 Mirwen if that counts. xD

My mom, however, has 2 Illusion Spirit Teresas coming in, though. She's making 2 fairies and she was really fond of the sculpts. ^^

    19. I have 4 Lati Miel heads. To be fair they are all different in one way or another (elf ears, vampire teeth, mystic face, etc). At this point I'm probably good on Miels though it is my favorite mold. I don't have a problem owning multiple of same sculpt as long as they're different in some way, whether it be resin color or the faceup.

    20. I fell in love with DollZones Hal mold so badly I had to get two of them so I can have twins! ^^ They are going to be girl and boy twins when they are done! :3 And maybe someday I will get other MNF Chloe and Marcia since the ones that I have now are so cute I want more!! > 3 <
