How many of the same molds will you get?

Jul 6, 2011

    1. I would like to finish twining all my girls^ ^ i think twins are really cute! I would like to make them the same outfit but in different colours and just i really love family type interaction between dolls. I see a lot of romantic interactions in dolly photos which are cool but i really want to take more photos of my little girls doing little girl things with her twin sister, that would just be really cute.

    2. While I know a number of people who will buy multiples of the same mold, that just isn't it for me. I only have one of a mold because there are so many gorgeous dolls that I can't justify putting my money into the same one. But if you really love a certain mold, then feel free to buy more than one. As you said they will all look differently depending on how you style them.

    3. I dunno...XD; I say yes sometimes but then I look at the same sculpt I already own and double think on it because I like having one of each.

    4. Well...depends lol. I have a few molds that are must haves for me. Mio from Fairyland is one...I have a Pukifee of her and now I want her Littlefee form. Then theres Littlefee Rolly who I have and would get another if they made her into a Minifee. And last...I have two Unoa Lusis yawning faceplates, the only difference between them is the skin colors....one at least WILL have a body someday lol. I also wouldn't mind getting a MNF Shushu and another one if she turned into a F60 ^-^

    5. I still love my Volks and my Luts that was the first bjds I got. I got several sister heads but now only one remained as well for Unoss, one is stayed.

      Now I have 2 schoolA + 1 schoolA sleeping
      2 Luts EL
My favorite amoung my favorite : Dollshe Saint I have 2 + 1 sleeping

I'm collecting since a long time and got a lot of Bjds but always love the same.

    6. I probably wouldn't get exactly the same molds but similar ones, yes, since many of my characters are related.
I have Soom Merc-Hyperon and Wolf the Knight...the two are remarkably similar.
I have Soom Dia and am planning for a Ringdoll Lucifer.
I've also recently fellen in love with Soom Ender and is currently looking for a female version so I can make a brother and sister out of these two.

    7. Except for certain circumstances, I stick with one mold. While a faceup and styling makes a mold unique, I still would only ever want one. I do like seeing owners who own multiples, and seeing how they go about making each one an individual.

    8. I never planned to get more than one of any sculpt. As much as I love some of them, I wouldn't want more than one of them. Except... Well I kinda broke my rule recently actually. I really wanted a second Elfdoll Rita to be a spare for my first and most special girl, but then I realised I just had such a strong love of that sculpt and it took me so long to even get into girl dolls that I just wanted another of that same doll to be a totally different character and look different. Other than her, I don't anticipate actually owning more than one of any other sculpt. I just prefer to have lots of different dolls than a few that are all the same.

    9. I've ended up with more multiples than I ever meant to have, mainly because I obsessively rescue old Customhouse boys when they come up for sale. I have . . . let me think . . . three Juns, two Genes, and two Bins. Then there are two Volks Four Sisters in the house, though they're from such different generations that they're almost unrecognizable as the same mold (one from 1999, the other from 2005).

The only multiples I actually intended to buy are my brother-sister twins, Minawadou Saiki heads. I actually had three of the elusive critters for a while, but I had to sell the extra boy -- it felt too much like I was hogging the supply. :(

    10. For me two is the max of one sculpt and that is for the twins I want. Saying that though the same sculpt with different coloured resin, eyes, wig and make up can make the sculpt look completely different from each other! I found that out a couple days ago with the Loongsoul Morgan.
Having twins is going to be really pricy D: going to have to buy two of the same wigs every time I want to change it.

    11. I have one pair of brother/sister IH Byuri BID twins, and for me that's IT. With so many gorgeous new sculpts coming out every single month, I'm not going to use up my money or my space on repetition.

    12. Years ago I would have said two or possible three (twins/triplets). But actually I am up to 5 MD Ryus <_< So I guess I don't really have a limit? I do characters with my dolls, and sometimes a particular feel a mold has just fits multiple characters. I try not to do multiples in character groups unless they're twins or related, though . . . .

(Note: two of the 5 Ryus are the light and darker Migidoll tans, so that makes them look very different than the others XD)

I also have 2 Owens, but they are actually twins :)

Upon further thinking, this actually might just be unique to Ryu with me. Ryu looks almost dead on for my drawing style, so the mold is easier for me to work with and build on.

    13. I tend to not buy duplicates, but then again I keep my collection very small. (less than 5) I love the sculpts with scars and can think of a million ways to paint them. But I'm okay with only having one of each doll. I do like expressions in my photos.. so sometimes I buy extra heads to mod them into emotion heads. But they float until a needed for a photo.

    14. I would say I probably would not get two of the same sculpt unless I was going for twins. Part of the draw of BJDs for me is their ability to fulfill the role of a character, and I would not want them to have too similar of faces.

    15. As I wanted a pair of Yo-SD sized twins when Peak's Woods had their amazing Christmas event. At first I had thought of buying two of the same molds, but looking at all of PWs' FOFs I ended up buying a Mr Hollow and a Dorothy to be my twins. I felt they would work great together, and I guess I felt it would be interesting to make different molds like twins. (Or it might just be due to my experience with my two younger sisters - who are twins - who don't really look that much alike) ;)

    16. i had before delf el twins, but i did not like having two of the same doll, because with so many pretty dolls available i want to be able to own different ones. i think maybe one day i will have twins but instead of same face i will get very similar ones

    17. Probably just one of each mold that I like. My wish list is impossibly long and I want to get as many different sculpts as I can before I start thinking of purchasing one I already have.
That being said, I love my Limhwa Leda to death and I wouldn't mind owning another in a lighter skin tone. But it wouldn't happen until my collection contains a lot more sculpts.

    18. ALL OF THEM.

      *twitch*

The last time I posted in this thread I was up to 5 Dollmore Kara Klums, now I have 6, and am not only not opposed to a 7th but actively want one. But only in WS, so it's going to be nearly impossible, and I don't want to think about it atm XD

The funny thing is, I was once like all of you who say you only want one of each sculpt - I couldn't figure out why anyone would want or need two or more of the same doll. Then I got my second, and found the head a body...and I really LOVE all of them together. They have their own shelf, with all of them glaring in unison. There are days when I really think I could sell all the others off and only have Kara Klums....all the Kara Klums....and be just fine.

But I'd miss the others. Probably. XD

    19. Unless I was shelling twins, I'm not sure I'd ever buy the same mold twice. I like all the ones I owe but they're each their own character. Having two of the same thing would feel weird to me. I realize that a different faceup and wig can make a huge difference but...it's just not for me!

    20. I dont think I would really get more than one of the same sculpt honestly, just because I like to have variety in my collection. But I could see getting 2 of the same sculpt for the purpose of doing twin dolls or something like that~
