How many of the same molds will you get?

Jul 6, 2011

    1. I would really only consider getting multiples if I was planning on having twin dolls in all honesty. I don't mind paying for the same body type for multiple dolls though. Just not head molds.

    2. Originally, I never planned or intended multiples. Like many on the thread, I thought 'there are just too many gorgeous dolls out there' and one of a certain sculpt would be enough for anyone. Ha. Hahahahaha. First came the Sprites - one lilac, then one NS. Even then I was certain they were just an exception: 'ohhhh these two are just special, twins will be an interesting addition to my collection, not something I'd repeat. /cough

Currently I have the original 2 Sprites, 3 additional sets of twins of 3 sculpts, and 3 other sets of non-twins (each pair is same sculpt, but completely separate characters) I also have a F60 Mirwen with concrete plans for a MNF one later in the year, and I'm fully prepared to buy another should FL release the sculpt as a tiny or event/limited ed. & lbh I love my LS chibis enough that I'm not saying there won't be more Teds in the future. Whew. I guess the only thing I can say I've learned is repeating a sculpt doesn't bother me at all anymore, as all of them have very definite characters & that works for me more that the fact their base mold is the same.

    3. I think it's kind of cool when other people do it, but I personally would definitely never want any more than one of any sculpt. I can't even abide the idea of having two dolls with the same body sculpt, let alone the same head sculpt. I have always had an intense dislike of owning multiples of ANYTHING, so I don't see this changing with my dolls at any point in future.

    4. It really depends. Sometimes I swear I'm never going to have any two dolls of the same head sculpt, then I fall in love with the ideas of twins or triplets and it just flies out the window! Honestly, I think three would be the maximum number possible for any one head sculpt. I'd run out of personalized faceup ideas after that!

    5. It depends on characters I would make and of course of the mold price. If the price is reasonable I think that I could make twins or even triplets. I would love to do that with a mold that I love and have the same mold would not bothering me at all.

    6. I adore the idea that the same molds can be turned into such distinctly different dolls. I wouldn't mind having several of one mold so I can use it to it's full potential by using vastly different styles. It would be very fun.

    7. I need an Elfdoll Catsy in every color. Need. I'm a completionist like that.

I love the Dollzone Catish Reaa dolls, so I'm sure I'll get one or two more of those in different resin tones. The ones I have (oh gosh. Three. The third is on the way, and the first is really a hybrid) are all the same resin tone.)

    8. I didn't have any same mold but I may consider to get in the future! :XD: The twin concept is just too good and I actually want twins as one of my characters.

    9. Oh gosh, this topic speaks to me, haha! I have triplet (!) DZ Baby Raphaels, triplet DZ Momos, and twin DZ Nonos. I think Dollzone is putting a special blend of crack in their tinies or something, because seriously... :doh

    10. I love having multiples of one mold, especially if different skin tones are involved. My favorite Soom sculpt is Sueve, and at this point I have seven of her with different plans/looks for all of them. There's two white, three normal, one pink, and one bronze. If I really like a sculpt I may try to get another, if possible! I also have multiple Soom Cheshire, Nor/Dune, and soon Komat/Ior. Volks dolls are harder as they are super expensive, but I'd love another Kanon, Lieselotte, or yo Alice. Almost certainly an NS F-54 is in my future to go with my sunlight F-54! Maybe it's a bit of a bad habit but I love all of them:)

    11. What can I say? I collect certain sculpts and like to make them as different as I can. Currently I have multiples of several sculpts in several different sizes, mostly CP, but a couple of duplicate Pipos. I have 18-19 Lishes, (11 Delf heads - including 2 Elf 05s, an Elf Vampire, an Elf 06, and a bunch of different resin colours; 3 MNFs; 2 Chiclines and 2 LTF and a floating head); 8 Breakaway/Itals (2 F65s, 2 F70s, 1 MNF, 1 Chicline and 3 LTF/L-lines); 3 Els (Chicline and 2 LTF); 4 PKF Bonnies; 3 PKF Zoes; 2 Yo sized Pipos Alices; 2 tiny sized Pipos Alices and three varieties of Chloe (F60 Elf, Chicline and MNF).

I really enjoy making my dolls appear different and I still have to explain that some of my dolls are the same sculpt because people don't always realise it. And I like that - I want my dolls to show the full range of what sculpts are capable of why not indulge myself in collecting my favourite sculpt? I also have doubles of bodies, since I prefer bodies that I like as opposed to getting different bodies just because.

    12. It's amazing how different the same sculpt can look with different wigs, eyes faceup, etc. I personally probably wouldn't buy more than 1 of a sculpt unless I had characters that were twins.

    13. I have two Dollshe Saints (in different colors), and I have the original CW Soom Heliot and just put a GS Dream Ripper Heliot on layaway. Not sure if the latter counts because they are slightly different, but still the same sculpt. So far I don't see myself doing more than two variations of the same doll, but that could always change I guess!

    14. I only have one doll so far but I have often thought about certain sculpts and how much I love. I think, for me, it really depends on just what doll it is (a.k.a my Bermann obsession). For the most part even if I happen to like something, I would not want my dolls to all start looking too similar. I think two would be the likely number.

    15. I don't like the idea of owning multiples of the same sculpt. I like variety.

    16. I have 5 of the same head mold, three are supposed to be different incarnations of a hero in different lives. Sabyien, Elric, Corum, which have been modded with slightly more open eyes and matching elf ears.

Then I got another Peroth (4th one)off the the MP. I didn't mod him, since I already had modded my first three.

Pics of the first four are here- http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?552356-Dark-Waltz-%28Esthy-Peroth-x4%29

He was going to be my "Claude Faustus" but then I had brought another Peroth when Esthy/Nobility doll had re released him with his own body.

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?567295-The-second-arrival-of-Claude-Faustus-%28Esthy-Peroth-ND-release%29

The re-release wound up being painted as Claude, so Claude now has two shells,
one that matches Volks resin and the other that matches Nobility dolls NS which is pink rather then yellowish.

Depending on what Body that I find that would suit Claude, the head that closely matches the body's resin will be his final form.

(I'm also planing on keeping the extra Peroth-head, to become my Loki.)

      So....

      Sabyien- NS (modded)
      Elric - WS (modded)
      Corum - NS (modded)
      Loki(??) - NS
Claude - Nobility Doll Release, Pinky NS

    17. I've seen a lot of approaches to bringing home multiples of the same mold, but I have to say that shelling multiples of the Eternal Champion is really a fantastic idea! Even though now I feel a little less original that I'm going to use two of the same mold to shell the "original" and "resonant soul" (sort of like a past incarnation) of a particular character of mine.

It's always nice to see approaches that aren't the obvious "twins," though!

    18. I would have multiples of the same sculpts in a heartbeat. I plan on having two DZ Raymond sculpts and as many Unoa lusis/sists I can possibly afford. There are so many gorgeous sculpts out there, but I tend to obsess over the ones I want. Plus, there's so many different looks that a sculpt looks fabulous in, but you don't want to have to refaceup your doll constantly when whims hit. In my opinion anyway.

The two Raymonds won't be twins, but they are brothers "created" on the same day. I'm itching to order them.

    19. I once wanted to get twins. Somehow just loved the idea. To make them absolutely alike. Well, I just like twins. In that case, two dolls, if possible, to buy them at the same time. And also I like the eyes shape difference. Like open eyes, dreaming eyes, sleeping eyes. But may be in that case face plates are fine enough.

    20. I'll be buying another Resinsoul Mei for one of my Drow dolls, so I'll have two of that sculpt but in different colours (one normal skin and one either grey or dark grey)
I'm also considering buying Resinsoul Ju for my Drow twins, but one will be on a female body and one on a male body. Although I am kinda thinking about different but similar sculpts for them, like Song and Sprite...but I love Ju's ears too much
