How many of the same molds will you get?

Jul 6, 2011

    1. If I especially love the head sculpt then an extra (or more) of the same sculpt would be welcome! There's just so many possibilities with exploring different faceups and customisations. Even with the same sculpt, the extra could be a different facial expression, an AU option or a cosplay option. Or even twins or a completely different character! :love

    2. I prefer to have only one head for one molds, but nowadays I bought same heads. I’ve never bought three same molds, and I’m trying to not to collect more than two same heads.

    3. I would eventually like a Doll Chateau Bella with an artist's face-up. I would like her make-up to be natural with freckles. I currently have Bella 2. This is the only sculpt thus far I'd like two of

    4. I just bought my fourth KDF Aengdu this month :sweat. She's the sculpt that made me get into the hobby (even if she wasn't my first doll) and she's the only one I have multiples of. Unless I count a damaged head where I got a new replacement head because I feel that's a bit of a different situation.

Other grails I already own have come up secondhand but I have always managed to resist getting a double.

    5. I think I have a favorite sculpt. :sweat It's Fairyland's minifee Dina. I bought her as a fullset but picked up a floating head to be another character. Now I want to get her in tan as well! That would be 3 open eyed Dina's and 2 sleeping if I end placing another order one day :evilplot:

    6. Well from experience I bought 4 of the same face sculpt in different resin colors. It was a face sculpt that had almost all the facial features i wanted. He has mono lidded eyes, medium nose size, medium nose bridge, and medium to thick lips (not too thick that it looks like that filler look). It would have been nice if his cheek bones were a little bit stronger. Overall he has a soft face, but not too soft.

If the doll company has many concepts and face ups i like, but I only like a few face sculpts i will just keep buying my favorite face sculpts. For example, I love peakswoods concepts and face ups, but only like about 2 to 4 of their female face sculpts. For the males I only like about 3 of their face sculpts.

For a discontinued face sculpt I might buy about 4 with different colors. This only happened to me once it was a female who I planned to get later, but I learned she would be discontinued. That's how I ended up buying 4 of her. After that it got easier to buy multiples of a face sculpt that I really liked. Before I wouldn't have bought the same face sculpt because I thought it was a waste of money to buy the same face when I could get a new face sculpt.

    7. I have two of the same sculpt but in different resin colors. I was super close to buying a third in another resin color as well but I think two of one sculpt is enough for me. I would consider more if maybe the sculpt was slightly different on each? Like if I had a sleeping head and an awake head, or had one slightly modded to make it a little different. Tonocha modded an Erda head for a set of Erda twins and it looked so good, they looked like identical twins but one was just enough different to make him unique

    8. I don't own multiples of the same mold since I don't have a lot of space, but I do own one copy of a DF-A Max, and I love the sculpt so much I have considered buying multiples (unfortunately I can't get any more SDs). There are also many Luts sculpts that are incredibly versatile and inspire me, but I want to specifically mention the SDF and MDF Bliss. I would buy a bunch if I could.

    9. Owning multiples of the same sculpt is not something that generally appeals to me when there are so many cool different dolls I could have, but never say never. I think repeats are interesting and appealing with a concept that works for me. And in some cases, like with a favorite anthro mold, I could see having duplicates just to have a look alike companion and customize them really differently.
But anyway, I mostly prefer variety and know that I don't tend to use option heads as extras for one Character.

    10. I always feel better having one or more duplicate of things i really really like (and that are fragile) so just for that having more than one of the same sculpt feels like something i'd do.
More than that the idea of having different face-ups for different emotions / periods of the life of the shelled characters feels super appealling to me ! it adds other dimensions to stories.

    11. Had to log into Iplehouse to count all the resin colors they offer in Doll Choice.

      The answer is seven.
One day, I want seven Iplehouse nSID/nYID Maris - one in each resin color they offer.
Yes, I love this sculpt and am slightly obsessed.

    12. I prefer having variety in heads and bodies and always thought I'd have no doubles... and while not exact twins, I have ended up with two dolls on the Unoa Sist side of things. I am planning to get some more faceplates for them so I think I'll soon end up with exact doubles, too :sweat it was never meant to happen but they have both grown on me and I kind of enjoy the twin trope as well with them so I can't be mad.

    13. I have two sculpts I own more than one of. I have a Fairyland Littlefee and a Pukipuki who are both the Pipi sculpt because I adore the face shape, the nose, the eyes, the mouth. It's just too cute.
I also have two Fairyland Minifee Mirwens, because I love the stronger features and brow corners. One's a girl, and one's a boy.

    14. One in the sense that I'd want to stick to one sculpt per character since that's like their bone structure, but I have thought about getting more than one of the same heads for the same character and just painting them differently for different looks. Especially if there are little variations in the heads (ex. normal and then sleeping, romantic, smirking, etc...)
Some day I want a big hot villian 70cm clown boy LOL, and so it would be cool to have two heads for him with and without the clown makeup!

    15. One, although I do have a Carter open eyes and a YoCarter winking.
I like different dolls, because each character of mine looks different.
If I was ever going to make twins I would consider getting two of the same doll.

    16. At one point I had 3 Minifee Chloe’s.

    17. It depends how much the sculpt is loved, but also depends on the kind of doll. For instance: Volks Dollfie Dreams. Some of the heads are only for MDD, and I’m not really a fan of the ones with circle eye-holes, I prefer the maturish looking eyes. This has led to me repeatedly buying DDH-09 heads for my vinyl dolls.

I’m also a sucker for identical twins so if I really connect with a sculpt I will want 2 instead of 1. This is usually the case with resin bjds.

    18. I would love to have twins one day, but I can't bear the thought of two completely identical heads. For me personally there has to be some difference, like completely different skin tones, or one dreaming head and one with open eyes, or one human and one elf/vampire, that sort of thing. The more differences the better :thumbup Right now I was thinking of getting two mnf Hwayu, a vampire in normal or white skin and a human in tan, on two different bodies, but that's a very vague plan.

    19. I have Fairyland Ante in Littlefee, two Pukifee in different resin colors, and a Pukipuki on order. I also have Lati Yellow Hana in two resin colors.

    20. if i love a sculpt a lot, i'd at most get two! i enjoy having different sculpts with distinctive styles unique to the doll, but honestly i would love a darker supia doll esther and a paler one..i just love her sculpt so much
