How many of the same molds will you get?

The Max I have is 3 of the same head mold -

I have 5 other heads which have 2 of..... many are different color from each other.....

 

I used to say, I would never ever buy the same mold more than once, but I've changed my mind.
Now I own a SOOM Bygg, a Romantic Bygg, a Beyla is on my wishing list, I kinda want a NS Bygg and possibly a Romantic Beyla. I try to convince myself, that it doesn't count, when the dolls have different skin colors.

I ordered a MNF Chloe and I really love her face. I also really love the VE Chloe that was a gift head and I'm going to be in search of that head. They aren't exactly the same but I want both.

 

Cupcakes it depends on what you collect...All of my guys together cost less than one Volks Kira, between my DoA MP bottom feeding and other people's generosity..and two years of patiently waiting for them to trickle down. So if you love a particular sculpt (or any doll), eventually you will find it for a price you can afford.

 

I'm up to four CP Soos (DES, AES, MNF DES, and Sleeping), and five Chiwoos (three standard and the two versions of elf). No special reason why, that's just the way it panned out. I wouldn't turn away more Chiwoos that stumble into my path, but I think I'm good on Soo.

 

I always said I'd never have two of the same sculpt...not even the same body, as it just bugs me b/c real ppl aren't the same, dolls shouldn't be either! However...I do have two DZ Hids.....Erik and Mikko. The reason being, I always thought Hid was a good brother to RD Valo, so I got Erik. Mikko started out as a DZ Yuu, but when he decided he apparently wanted to date my AoD Chen, I couldn't be ok with the size difference, so downgraded Mikko...and a Hid is the closest match in sculpt to a yuu. Though Erik is modded, so it doesn't bother me too much.

Maddy and Venice both have a resinsoul body...that drives me crazy and I really wish they didn't.

 

I don't deliberately buy dolls with the same head-sculpt... I DO have several, however!

These are dolls that came with extra heads. I just couldn't resist keeping them and making them siblings or alternate personalities. My very first bjd was a Delf Elf El that came with an Open-Eyed head and also a Dreaming Vampire head. So they aren't exactly alike.

My second bjd was a Delf Elf Lishe that came with THREE heads: OE, Dreaming, Dreaming Vampire. Still have all three, but so far the body is shared.

I guess this counts as "getting" them, since I could have sold the extra heads off...

 

I don't have any same-sculpts at the moment. I'm not much interested in getting the exact same sculpt. I might get interested in a modded version or a sleepy eye version, but not exactly the same.

 

I have only two Volks SD13 Shiros, version 1 & version 2. But if Volks had released 12 editions of Shiro, I'd have 12. I would have an entire Shiro Army if I had the space for it. I never get tired of looking at that face!

But they're not twins. They're just different guys with the same face I adore. I also have both versions of Volks SD13 Isao, and both editions of Iplehouse Tan Soo Ri, and 2 of the 5 different editions of DD-Anne Lotus Near. None of these are actual twins, either.... Although the two Lotus Nears are supposed to be opposite-equals of each other (the tan one is the Good Imp that sits on my right shoulder, and the white one is the Bad Imp that sits on my left shoulder ^^).

Generally I don't have a multiple-sculpt urge-- except for that little "passing fantasy" I have whenever I see a truly gorgeous face: "Boy, would I love to have about 5 of him!"

 

I love looking through the discussions here because it makes me think through things I've never thought about before. When I first saw this thread I thought that it seemed pretty unneccesary to have several of the same mold. What would be the use in that? But after reading through all the replies here I've changed my mind a lot!

Before this, the only thought I had that would be close to having two of the same molds would be that I and a friend of mine talked about getting the same mold each to make an OC twin couple of ours as BJDs. But now I suddenly got the urge to actually get 6 of the same head mold to make an OC of mine with a severe multiple personality disorder as a BJD! It probably won't happen any time soon, but it seems possible as it's easier to get one body and change between 6 heads then to aqquire all the dolls on my wishlist at the moment. It would be like 6 dolls in one!!

Anyway. As for bodies I couldn't really care less whether they look the same or not as they're mostly gonna be covered up by clothes anyway. :P

 

I have 5 Els, and 8 Shiwoos.

El- oe, dreaming, dreaming mod, elf, and ltf.

Shiwoo - oe normal, oe bw, vampire, elf ltf, ltf. pukifee, multihead, minifee.

Only two are the same character. The LTF El and Shiwoo and the OE El and the OE (N) Shiwoo are the same character. The LTF are the 5 year old versions of the Delf sized ones.

 

Hmmm! I never really thought of buying more than one of the same mold, but that would be a cool idea. Like, I'd probably get a couple of the same doll if I wanted to see it in different, permanent make up styles and various outfits. I would love to buy maybe a couple of Longs from Resin Soul, his face is versatile enough to make into something else and I'd love to see him in various skin colors. =D

 

I currently don't want any twins, but I can see myself breaking that rule in future (if I win the lottery )

I'd break the rule for:
a) a doll which requires multiple expressions (as I've seen custom face-ups that completely change a doll's expression)
or
b) the same sculpt in different skin tones (I'd love a tanned Amber, even though I already have a WS Amber, for example).

I'm also not counting variations of the same head as the same sculpt - otherwise I already own a few doubles (Ai and R. Ai, Migma and H. Migma, Shonki and Z. Shonki)

 

I have two CW Sabiks- an elf and a regular version. I would LOVE a third to have modded with closed eyes if they ever rerelease the Mecha Angels in WS. He's the only (current) sculpt I can imagine doing that with.

 

I would actually consider getting a second Soony to have a totally different faceup and character appeal.

My first one is on her way, and I find myself toying with the idea of "what if I had two". Though I'm just starting out with getting dolls finally, so it's a stretch right now. I think the closest I'll come any time soon is hoping to get ahold of the Soony sleeping head (just the head).

 

At first, I was not going to have more than one of a particular sculpt, but then I fell in love with Blue Fairy's Jasmine. So now I have a second on the way and she'll be a twin to the first.

 

I never planned to buy two of the same doll, until I saw people here putting Roke from Fairyland on a female body. Now I think he'd be a beautiful woman as well as a man! I just might have to do it.

 

I have 2 MNF Chloes, 2 Pipos Charlottes and 2 SOOM Ais... I think it's perfectly fine to have more than one of a sculpt! ^_^
