1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How many times have you changed the face-up on a single doll (not including practice face-ups)?

Apr 13, 2021

    1. Only once. I wanted to change the character a bit + the old face-up was made back in 2014 and got rather outdated for me.

I also have a doll that actually got his face-up changed twice but he also had to change his head once so I do not think this case counts. :D

    2. So far, around 2 times!
First time was because the sealant started cracking, that was a lesson well learnt for a beginner’s faceup
And second time actually today since it’s been 4 years and I think I can do a better job than I did back then :’)
Guess it’ll be a comparison of before/after improvements

    3. For most of mine—it seems like I've changed them each at least three times (with only a couple exceptions, I believe). My two most common reasons for changing them? Well—
      1. faceup receives damage: I figure this one is self-explanatory, but whenever their faceups get damaged in a way beyond simple reparation, I completely wipe them and give the faceup a redo.
2: unsatisfactory results first time around: this has happened on at least more than a few occasions. I'll give them their first faceup after receiving them blank, but will end up being dissatisfied with the results. Either it doesn't fit the image of the character, or some detail got botched along the way that I can't settle with—I end up wiping it off and starting from scratch.
additional, but not very common: if the sealant botches up details after applying a layer, or something gets botched in the duration of applying layers of detail—I'll often scrap it and start from scratch. Though not common, there have been at least a couple times where sealant application caused things like bubbling (where the sealant got sensitive in once area for various reasons and started bubbling away from the resin at application sight), or I got overzealous and sprayed on a layer too thickly. There was also one time where the head made contact with another surface before the sealant dried, which led to a rather unsettling textured effect.

Those would be my main reasons for redoing a faceup. :kitty2
