1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How much do you think you've spent in total on your dolls?

May 1, 2021

    1. For the dolls themselves I think I've spent around ~1100 CAD for the 4 I own; one was a gift, and one was a gifted head I had to buy a body for. Add another ~$150 for doll clothes and wigs so far, to about ~1250 total.

For art supplies I think I've also spent roughly the same amount, though I'm not sure how much I bought specifically for my hobby and how much I bought for my studies/profession.

Seeing people mention excel sheets is actually a really good idea and I might start doing something similar. This way I can look at the amount of money I've spent on dolls (not just BJDs) and cringe LMAO

    2. I think we always need to take into consideration how long we've been in the hobby too. A total of say 5kUSD over the course of ten years is absolutely not the same as spending 5k in one. And I am absolutely not shaming anyone that has spend 5k on dolls in a year. Just saying that to put things into perspective.

My own total for my (only) 1.5 yeats shocked me as well but I regret none of it and I can afford it financially. I went all out but I can feel the desire for new dolls lessen :). I recently decided I no longer need to buy some of the dolls that were on my wishlist.

    3. $3000 on just dolls since February, I don’t know how much on everything else because I don’t keep track :nowords:. I have slowed down on buying though, that was just me being a newbie and grabbing everything I liked all at once.

    4. I don't even want to know.

    5. hmmm. around 10k, and thats mostly only dolls and clothes purchases i remember... I don't know if we're sneaking closer to 11k usd in reality. 2300 of those is my trinity doll, so she's a 5th of the ammount which is insane, though what's more insane is that i LOOOOOONG for a Kaya and a kate as well (i have an Elysia)

    6. I’ve never properly calculated it but have done some rough estimates and I wouldn’t be surprised if I spent $10k in the last year. It was worth it because I needed something to keep me occupied from all the anxiety and stress, but I really need to rein in my spending for the foreseeable future *_*

    7. I used to write down all of the expenses and that's how I realized how much money I was actually spending. I thought it was around 1-2k per year, but it was actually around 4-5k. But I was able to reduce that, because luckily I've become a lot more picky. But even if I couldn't have reduced it, it wouldn't be a huge problem for me. As long as the hobby makes me happy, it's money well spent.

    8. I used to spend a lot /month but i've toned it down a bit. I also don't mind selling dolls so they only stay a while in my home. I bought a lot of dolls to make OOAK face up sales too. The total must be pretty high, even if you don't include like new camera costs and all!! I'm always happy if I can sell a doll for almost what I bought her. Means she had a stay in my home for free!

    9. Far too much!
I own for around $20k of dolls I think, not including the outfits, props and eveything. And not counting those I bought and sold.

    10. Too much.

I don't really know, a couple thousand. But I don't want to know, either, as it's money I could've saved for something a bit more... I don't want to say "useful" or "meaningful". And I don't really love half my dolls, or use 90% of the stuff I've bought for them. And then there's the stuff I've managed to sell to add into that total.

It'd get grim, calculating it all and wondering what else I could've had instead. :|:sigh

    11. Right now "only" about $835 of my own money (one doll was a gift otherwise it'd be a smidge higher) over the course of 2 years. I mean I guess when you really break it down it's not too bad. Luckily I don't impulse buy and only buy dolls I love. I can also be a bit of a dragon with my money sometimes, too, but I guess that's a good thing since otherwise my room with overflow with dolls I can't afford. :sweat

    12. How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop?

      The world may never know.

(yes I know there is the licking machine thing someone built and someone else math'd it to get an estimate, disregard all that like I disregard the fact that I could look up my bank history to get a rough idea)

    13. LOL I love your answer. My collection is very small compared to most people here, but I don't want to think what I've spent. The "sad" thing is, I know I've spent more on clothing, wigs, eyes, etc than on the dolls themselves.

    14. I have spent at least 7k on dolls alone... hahaha... I don't think about the rest. I went crazy over 2021 while I was going through some stuff. I have no regrets ;).

    15. Spent 2k on dolls and clothes so far, been in the hobby for about a year now. Kinda crazy thinking about it. :aeyepop:
I'm content with the wardrobe I have now but I'm already planning my next doll purchases (and they'll need a wardrobe too :aeyepop::aeyepop:). Help I've fallen and I can't get up.

    16. Lordy, I don’t keep track but… if I had to guess it’d be upwards of $8,000 since 2020. Probably more if I’m honest. Dolls really saved me during quarantine and I have discovered a passion and hobby for the first time in my life.

      No regrets :)

    17. Almost 4,700 Hundred with 1,200 of that either in the mail or I'm waiting on.

-Puts her head in her hands and wheezes.-

I've only been here a YEAR.

Edit - After some checking, roughly half of that is on the dolls themselves, which does and doesn't make me feel better? YAY! I've "only" spent 2500 on dolls! And then spent 2200 on clothes and wigs and eyes... Ugh.
