1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How much was your first doll?

Oct 4, 2016

    1. $350-400. Not to sure it's been over a decade. But I know I could afforded her with my first paycheck from my nannying job.
She was a peakswood morimoth off ebay. Beautiful doll. Didn't suit my aesthetic at all, lol.
But it was a decade ago, info was hard to find, and I was waiting for Den of Angels to open enrollment(back when you had to know someone or wait for them to open for new members).

    2. my first doll was a total of 400 with head and body bought at different times lol

    3. My first doll is second hand and I bought her in parts. In total, I bought her 250โ‚ฌ, without counting shipping costs (it was maybe 280 with). Not really expensive when you see the price of a new doll from companies !
(In fact, my second one was at the same price, it would be great if I can spend always that sum haha)

    4. 8000 yen, or around $72 US at the time. (Not including shipping)
I was very lucky and found a damaged Volks MSD F-09 from 2004 on Mandarake in February 2019.

    5. my first doll was a myou and she was about 200

    6. 'Technically' my first doll was $500 + shipping, but my first through Clover Singing (a Dika Doll 70cm boy) was $409.

    7. I bought 2 dolls at once so $100 bobobie elfkins. i think.

    8. Mine was an Iplehouse Mari with all extras. It was so long ago, but I think it was around $1400 total.

    9. My first doll, a DZ Megi-2 fullset, was something like $350 Australian dollars. Price was a major priority for me at the time. I can't remember the year with certainty anymore, but it was probably 2011 or 2012. I bought him through a local supplier that has since closed down.

    10. She was about $800-$900 back in 2007. My boyfriend at the time took me out on a date and his mom looked super excited as we left. When were in the car, he asked me if I wanted a "very special piece of jewelry" or a doll (since he knew I was wanting a BJD but didn't have one at the time). He said I could only picked one because he didn't have much money since he was a college student, but he wanted me to be happy. I picked the doll. Omigawd, I totally picked the doll over the "very special piece of jewelry". :evilplot::dance:XD:

He researched the nearest BJD seller and at the time it was the Volks USA physical store. I tried picking the cheapest doll there, but they were MSD sized and back then they didn't have any face-ups and it was pretty much a DIY kit. I ended up pointing out one of the floor models which was an SD10 Kun dressed in a lolita sort of outfit. The SD10 dolls all had eyes, face-ups, wigs, a slip, and underwear, so it was all about clothing, shoes, and accessories after that. So I got a mint in box Kun, the outfit the floor model was wearing and matching boots, and even the wig model Kun was wearing too. We sat in his car and named her together. I remember when we got back, his mom looked at my hand and was devastated to see that I was carrying a doll instead of wearing an engagement ring. :doh:hug: She had no reason to worry as he proposed to me a couple months later. She loaned us her engagement ring until he could afford to buy me a proper engagement ring about a year later. :whee:

His first doll was about $1700+ (secondhand first generation Volks Jun Tachibana with original everything and a few extras) back in 2008. Seems high now, but back then she was kind of an it Volks doll and the secondhand market for her was a bit crazy ($2000-$3000:chomp:) so the $1700 was actually reasonable compared to others available at that time for Jun with original box, default face-up, original eyes, wig, outfit, boots, and all the extras the original owner included with her.

    11. I bought mine second hand, but he was practically brand new from the company. I paid $300 for DollZone Ro with face and body blushing from the company

    12. I bought my first doll last year and it cost $380. My first doll the Potato from Be With You.

    13. My very very first doll was $5 at a flea market but I sense you're referring to BJDs only ;))))
My first BJD was around $1300, a Popovy doll.

    14. My first doll (that drew me into the hobby) was a Smart Doll, which was around $500. My first resin BJD was an Aimerai Yui, and because I got the fullset, she was also about $500.

    15. I just ordered my first doll a week or so ago >w< It's a Loong soul Fusang (Ancient) I got on the sale Loong soul just had, after i added faceup etc and bought some clothes the total came to about $557! Which is still cheaper than what it would have been off sale.

    16. I bought two dolls in the same order who were around $200 each, along with about $125 in clothes and accessories.

    17. My first doll was Crobidoll Lance. No one can get me to shut up about him since. He was $500 and I had a short layaway, came from Poland, I am his 3rd owner (probably not the smartest financial decision but I love his faceup) then I spent about $50 on his first wig (pictured), another $50 on his shoes, and $100 on a lot of clothes a local collector was selling. This was all set so it would be ready when he arrived.

    18. My first doll was Luts Sr Delf Blanchet when the line was first released, I paid for the face up and won the full set (it was a random raffle and only ten people I the original release got them) she cost just about $500 with face up and shipping.
