1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How much was your first doll?

Oct 4, 2016

    1. I guess it depends on what doll we count. My first doll in the hobby was my Smart Doll Prowess, which was around $450 plus quite a lot extra for her clothes. But she might not count since she's off topic. Next was my Dollfie Dream Karin, which was also around the same price (plus a lot extra for clothes, wigs, etc.)

My first resin BJD was expensive though, since she's a FCS Ever Beauty that required proxy fees and whatnot to get my hands on. I think at the time we didn't have as good of a conversion of dollars to yen, so the total with her clothes, extra parts, all the Satogaeri services and fees added up to around $2700.

    2. Mine was a SD Mark, purchased directly from the Volks website. I remember being around 500 euro, including shipping and +100 euro of custom charges.

    3. Oh gosh, it's been like 15 years. At least $400, I couldn't give you an exact number.

    4. Mine was a PukiPuki and she was $165.00 in 2009 :)

    5. My first full doll was either a Dollzone Carter or a Resinsoul Wu, so either around $260 or $200 after shipping. My first doll purchase was technically only $80 because I bought just the head intending to buy the body after I got a job. I do not recommend this to people looking to make their first hobby purchase, lmao. Don't be impatient like me. Save up for that full doll.

    6. I think the first doll I ordered was a Doll Leaves Alisa, so she wasn’t expensive even with the company face up. However, I sold her as I realised that I didn’t really like the size, and there is something about Doll Leaves that just doesn’t work for me. (I tried a msd years later and sold her too.)

    7. my first doll was a ResinSoul Bei from Denver Doll Emporium for $110.00.

    8. I think she was about £125 ish for a Resinsoul Li, about 4 years ago, and now I'm buying dolls that are in the £500-£600 range, thought I really struggle with convincing myself to spend that much, even though I absolutely love all of my dolls!

    9. Mine was a gift, so she was free, but the first doll I bought for myself was a Minifee that was $397 at the time.

    10. My first doll I ordered was cheap as far as this hobby goes (Bobobie Elfkin with face-up, eyes, eye putty, wig cap, and two wigs at $113.00 shipped) but during the 8 month wait for him to arrive I received an off topic Jun Planning Ai (Moss Rose) from my mom and ordered 4 more bjds for prices ranging from $30.00-$450.00) though one of them is an off topic hujoo(RIP), the others were a Pipos Baby Cheshire, a Fairyland Pukifee Ante, and a Dollzone Scorpio)
Without going through messages and emails to find invoices and the like I can't remember all of their individual costs.

    11. My first is about 500 CAD with the joint hand, but I got soom as my second. So I almost broke!

    12. My first doll was about 400 dollars. I remember I was so excited to have her. She was May in bluefairy. I don’t own any bluefairy dolls anymore, but I still like that company <3

    13. My first doll was a Mini Dollfie Dream and she was roughly $400. I never thought I'd feel comfortable spending that amount on a doll after admiring them from afar, but after taking the plunge I've never once regretted it:chibi

    14. From what I can recall about $700-$800 for a full set. It was a Rosen Lied doll.

Edit: forgot to mention it was a brand new doll

    15. My first doll was $220 with Faceup, clothes, wig and shoes from previous owner

    16. 2100 CNY from Loongsoul.

    17. My first BJD was Dollfie Dream Towa. She cost £450 brand new with low shipping costs and no import duties since she was already in the UK.

I had to buy her a few outfits though, as she only came with a basic nightdress and pantsu.

My first resin BJD was Super Dollfie Mytyl (pic in avatar). She cost 170,000 JPY. I didn't win last year's lottery when she was around 95,000. She came beautifully packaged and with a really nice outfit.

On the plus side I've just secured her optional outfit set, and it cost a lot less than I thought I'd have to pay to acquire it.

I did recently pay a lot to acquire Dollfie Dream Kagamine Rin, then found out she's going to be re-released.

    18. My first BJD was a Bunny Bunny Maple C doll that I ordered on mandarake for about 250$.

She's super cute and the perfect 1/6 size.

    19. My first was a fullset Dream Valley Dean, he was 590USD~ I thought he was so expensive but now I've started getting SDs... :sweat

    20. my first doll costed a bit over $500... i bought him blank because i know i'd just wipe the company faceup, and i wasnt too interested in the clothes he would come with... but the next doll im looking at will cost a little less :b !
