1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How much was your first doll?

Oct 4, 2016

    3. My first doll was about 160 euros blank (SD sized), but it was from a very affordable company (Mirodoll) :XD:

    4. ohno, i went with the DDY Towa from Volks as my first doll, i think the brand name of volks was so beginner friendly for me as a completely newb into this hobby last year, and i honestly didnt know any other companies at the time and the large breasts were perfect for my character so it all worked out, shes about $600 after tax/shipping?

I honestly hate the Towa face so it was definitely a bit of a bummer factor when i got her in person but its given me drive to practice faceups! So now im painting my own head for her, so thanks Towa for motivating me uwu

    5. 800USD ish, I believe.
it was a Senior Delf 65 BORY.
With faceup, and body faceup, and a few clothes.

    6. My first doll costed $165 + factory face up ($35). I chose an affordable company (Angel of Dream) :whee: Still love her after all these years

    7. Mine was $600 after shipping and a wig, the doll itself was $540 on her own I believe.

    8. Got her on the 'bay, secondhand for somewhere between 100 & 150 dollars, it's been so long I'm not sure.

    9. My first doll was only about $160. No company faceup, no special color, but I'm still obsessed with her.

    10. I don't remember what the auction ended on, but my Volks Shiro Tachibana cost me around $2200.

I did have a max amount when I started bidding, but in the heat of the battle, my self control went out the window and I just had to have him. To top it off, he got caught in customs (which can be a pretty expensive affair in DK).

I love him to bits though, so I don't care <3

    11. My first doll was a Volks FC72 Everbeauty I got through a proxy, she cost a whopping $1901 USD, which made my wallet scream and I don't intend to spend that much on a single doll again... at least not in the near future

    12. I bought my first doll waaaaay back in 2009 so I didn't think I had records of the cost -- but it turns out that I do! My first doll was Dream of Doll Lahoo - ordered in June 2009, received a few months later in September. Full doll with a faceup, default wig and eyes (but not Lahoo's default outfit - that was long sold out) for USD $707.50. With shipping he came out around USD $780. He's not with me anymore - I sold him after a couple of years.

    13. Pygmalion Lavier - $197
      Resinsoul Yi Body - $252
      Resinsoul joint hands - $60
Wigs, eyes, clothes, etc - currently at $322 :sweat

So that adds up to $509 USD for the blank doll, but $831 USD total? Of course, that's not including the fancy watercolor pencils, MSC, and other things I got to do his faceup...

    14. Haven't bought one yet, but I am torn between buying something cheap and blank that I can tinker with or splurging on something with the work already done.

    15. I bought my first doll secondhand for $373. After buying her first wig for $31 and her first eyes for $26.50, the total came to $430.50.

    16. When I was saving up for my first doll I begged my parents to help me get one. They told me to look for something cheaper. In the end they agreed to getting me a doll, but all of it's items needed to be under 300 dollars. I shopped around and finally got myself a Bobobie Pandora. I think I remember my grand total (clothing, eyes, and wig) all cost 275 and I was pumped for getting a completed doll right as I was entering the hobby. I still have my girl, and I don't plan on ever getting rid of her. I'd rather give her to someone than sell her.
