1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Old Are You (continued)

Mar 16, 2015

    1. I am 57 years old. Currently waiting for my first 1/4 size BJD. I had a tiny before but sold her. I have had & played with dolls since I was probably 4 years old. Started with Barbie, Francie, Kiddles, Ken mostly. The got into plastic type dolls about seven years ago, some small antique & vintage dolls and now looking forward to getting a HeeAh this month! I have sewn doll clothes before so I plan on sewing for my new girl! This is a very interesting thread seeing all the age differences but we all have the same love of dolls in common!

    3. I'm 30 years old. I'm collecting dolls durind 2 years.

    4. Thank goodness someone close to my age. I was feeling quite ancient compared to most who have posted. I started collecting about 6 years ago.

    5. I am 26 and I bought my first doll (Iplehouse JID Daniel) at 23. I thought I have him much longer, before I started to count :D Wow.

    6. I'm 28 and bought my first doll when I was 26.

I was buying some dolly stuff from a toy store a while back, and the cashier asked, "Aren't you a little too old for dolls?" I was pretty shocked so I didn't tell him off, but I felt a bit sad as well. But after that, I spent some time with my dolls and forgot about it.

And I love this thread. Like others have said, it's really fun seeing how diverse we all are, but at our core we're all joined together with a common love for BJDs <3

    11. I'm 27 and I've been collecting since early 2013. It's been a wonderful hobby that I hope to stick to and become more active if possible.

    13. I'm 29. I started to be interested in dolls ~ 3 years ago, when I saw kurhn doll (chinese barbie). Since then my interest grew up, in the literal sense (doll growth to MSD and even one SD) and figuratively (become wider, I like momoko, BJD and other) and now I have 3 BJD dolls.

    14. I'll be turning 22 this upcoming June and I should be ordering my second doll around that time!

    20. I love this thread. It's so incredible to see how diverse the community is, and makes the whole hobby so much more welcoming. I like seeing people embracing their passions with disregard to stereotypes.

I'm 38. I got my first dolls last summer at 37 and felt ancient. I think it has a lot to do with so much of the style we see in the hobby is so youthful, or Lolita-like. I enjoy those kinds of dolls, but also really like mature styles. The more I've been in the hobby, the more variety I've found.

I'm a long time off topic type of doll collector, but went quite a few years without collecting any dolls. I just didn't have the funds and space during most of twenties. I just got back into doll collecting a few years ago and the rabbit hole eventually led to bjd after ABS, mechanical jointed type of dolls started taking up most of my collection. I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed posing them and playing around them. Before that, I wasn't much of deboxer. Like most people, I was put off by the bjd cost at first, but couldn't get them out of my head. Then my father unexpectedly passed away right before Christmas 2014, and I can't even describe how I felt. I desperately needed something positive and new in my life. I'd wanted a bjd for so long, and having the "life's too short" thinking freshly minted in my mind, I broke down in January 2015 ordered my first one (shortly followed by several more). They have been a wonderful comfort and an odd kind of therapy. I find they inspire so many of my creative outlets.
