1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Mar 16, 2015

    1. Im 25 in February, only got into the hobby about a year ago. I love making my own clothes for my dollehs :3

    2. I am 25 this year, and I have 6 BJDs. ;)

    3. I'm 33 and have been collecting dolls and vintage toys (from my childhood the 80's/90's) since my teens but didn't become acquainted with asian BJD's until 2012 when I purchased my first resin BJD and received her around the time of the London Olympics.

    7. I'm 23 i got into this hobby around 2 years ago

    8. Lol, there's a few of us around. ;) :thumbup

I'm 59, and I started collecting these dolls around 2004 or 2005, when I first discovered them.

As soon as I'd caught a brief distant glimpse of them on a table in Artist's Alley at Anime Weekend Atlanta, I had an instant gut reaction, and a strong attraction. I immediately wanted to go get a closer look and find out about them, but I was on my way to a panel or something and couldn't stop. :doh

I went back to Artist's Alley as soon as I could, but the person and the dolls were gone. :atremblin

It wasn't until someone posted about them on an Yaoi forum, that I was finally able to get a good look at them, at least in photos.:ablink::drool

The person had posted links to Aimee's personal doll website, and to Den of Angels. The more pictures I saw, and the more I read about them, the more certain I became that these were my Grail dolls! :3nodding::dance

As for dolls in general, I've been collecting and playing with them since I was a child. Even in the face of parental and peer pressure, I just never stopped.

    9. I'm also an older collector. 56 years young. Started collecting 2 years ago. I too have played with dolls since childhood. What I love most about doll collecting is that there is so much variety out there, you can always find new and interesting dolls. I have discovered so many new dolls, including ones that I didn't even know existed.I currently have 14 BJD's with another on the way.

    10. I am 17. I remembered when I first saw a BJD. I was reading some online story (fan fiction probably) when I was 12 and it mentioned "Ball jointed-dolls". I was just kind of like "What in the world is that?". I googled it and admired them for a few days before forgetting about them. I went to an anime convention two years ago and started noticing some people going around with BJDs. There was this one girl carrying hers in a baby stroller. I was asked what they were and why she was carrying dolls in a stroller and she said that it was easier to carry them that way. but I was just like "What ever, crazy...," in my head. The that last anime convention in July, I became more intrigued and visited the BJD booth for a bit. I thought those people were insane too. All those prices didn't help. But nothing hindered my undeniable interest.
Now here I am. I've fallen in love(/might be addicted) with BJDs. I got my Little guy last Thursday and I don't plan on ever leaving this hobby. I understand everything now.

    11. Wow! It wonderful how much age variation we have on here! I'm 22, and I've liked BJDs since I was about thirteen or fourteen, yet I'm only just getting my first one now that I have just enough spare cash to invest in one. Before now I've collected 1/6 Azone dolls, but I always felt like it would be cool to have a proper resin BJD. I've seen them at anime convention from time to time, and went into full-on fangirl mode whenever I did!

    12. That's awesome :D Who's your first resin gonna be?

    13. She's a LUTS KDF, Aronia. She's on layaway, but I'm hoping that after her faceup and everything she'll be here around Christmas time! :whee:

    14. I just turned 18 this year haha! I have 2 complete bjds and one floating head- his body is on layaway :chibi

    15. Lucky you, that's a beautiful doll

    16. She is! I found her and within a few days decided that I needed her. I couldn't find a single other doll that I liked as much as her!

I wish I had been able to get one sooner! I hope your layaway body doesn't have too much longer until it's paid off. :)

    17. I am 27 years old and I have 7 BJDs of various sizes, I started collecting about a year ago and there are no signs of stopping!

    18. I will be 25 next month! I got my first BJD back in April and have wanted one since I was 14, so I'm very happy :D

    19. I'm turning 26 in a couple of weeks. I've been obsessed with BJDs since I was 16, but I didn't get my first dolls until last year, and I didn't actually get one that I truly wanted (an anime-styled 48 cm Obitsu) until very recently.

    20. I'm 31. Actually I was/am a Sylvanian Families (calico critters in america) and vintage Polly Pocket collector and always knew about bjd's but didnt wanna start buying them because I knew I would get hooked. Two months ago I bought my first one and now I have almost six:aangel:
I dont buy the most expensive ones (expensive like € 600,00)the average I spend is € 200-300 (except for Sooah, shes 350 and little baby Milk was just E 55,00) and I never use my savings for dolls. I only buy what I can afford easily, so its money I would have spend on Sylvanian Families and Polly Pockets otherwise.
And they're all second hand except for Doll leaves Alex, my first doll.
