1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How old were you when you got into the doll hobby?

Jul 23, 2018

    1. I had just turned 20. Feels like so long ago, I'm 34 now.

    2. I was 21 and I’m 29 right now

    3. 15, for dolls overall but I got my first proper BJD at 19 years old - I had been interested in them while earlier than that though. I actually just recently got my grail doll I had been dreaming of for since I was 16 or 17!

    4. My best friend is actually the reason I got into the hobby haha I got my first doll, my Fairyland Minifee Mio, in 2016 at the age of 20! I was in college at the time and couldn't do much in terms of customization the way I wanted to until now but I think that was for the best! I was super nervous about branching out from Fairyland and now I'm not really all that picky honestly haha if I like the sculpt and it's got no major issues, it'll end up in my collection!

    5. Although I have been interested by many kinds of dolls since I was a child, I first found out about BJDs in 2013, when I was 15. But I'll begin my collection at 24 when my first doll arrives later this year.

    6. If I am correct, I was 15 when I got my first doll and 14 when I discovered the hobby! I discovered the hobby by looking up some anime merch on ebay and came across a Volks SWD Nana and instantly fell in love... there was no going back at that point. It took some time and searching but my first purchase was a Custom House Little Junior Zephyrose.

    7. Loved dolls ever since i was little, but I didn't get invested into bjd's properly until... 2019ish? I only heard about them in passing before that. I officially dove into the hobby in late 2020 when I purchased my first official bjd, and that's where I've been ever since. ^^ So that makes me 25 when I "Started", technically. Maybe a little slow compared to others around here, but hey, better late than never!

    8. I was about 10-11 when I first found the hobby, and got my first doll at 14! I had a great little collection but those are all long gone.

I got back into the hobby at 22 and I think I’ll have my dolls for as long as time allows!! I love them so much :3nodding:

    9. I never had dolls as a kid. It wasn't until my sophomore year of college (19, now 27) that I fell in love with my first. He became my grail doll and since he was discontinued I wasn't able to get him until 2020, but I was able to get my first doll in a few months after getting into BJDs.

    10. Just graduating high school... am now 35. Dang.

    11. I loved them back there when I was 16 or 17?! I wanted a DOD so bad but would have been impossible. My mom was thinking of giving me one, but on my country taxes are super high and there is a big chance your package will be just stolen anyway. So the risks where too high and she gave up. I got my first Dollfie Dream after movin to Japan in 2012 when I was like 22 (I still have her). Unfortunately Bjds where to expensive for me at the time and only got my first one when I was 31, 2 years ago.

    12. I first discovered bjds when I was 14, but never got around to getting one until I was 22! The years of browsing through new doll releases from companies and photos from doll owners gave me the confidence to properly dive into the hobby knowing exactly what I want and how to care for them.

    13. Didn't really like dolls in my childhood though I had some. I got interested in bjds at about 17-18 and got the first one when I was almost 19. Then I tried to buy another one but didn't have money for it, then I kinda left the hobby... until the last year when I started browsing through the sites and forums - and buying of course because I finally had money; now I'm almost 29 and I've got quite a lot of dolls.

    14. When I was a junior high school student, I first saw dolls on the internet and then I got interested in dolls. For my adult birthday, my mum bought me my first bjd.Now I can afford to earn my own money to buy my bjds.:kitty1

    15. 32 years old .

    16. I was 13 or 14 when I first learned about the hobby, and I was 16 when I bought my first doll. I'm 25 now!

    17. Dolls have pretty much always been part of my life! My grandma is a collector herself, which passed on to my mom too. I got really into it around 12-13ish when my grandma taught me how to sew doll clothes for my fashion dolls because I wanted to be like her. I am 21 now and have already purchased one doll, and plan to preorder a second come my next paycheck!

    18. Dolls in general? I've liked them since I was a kid! Though I wouldn't say I did doll hobby things back then, not like I do now. I was a kid, after all.

Found out about BJDs and got interested in them? Around high school, I want to say. I saw stuff on them around DeviantArt and thought they were neat, but I didn't exactly have the money to get one. I'd mostly just look at stuff on Junkyspot.

Actually got a BJD? Twenty four! My first boy is a year old as of last month. I gotta say, I am glad I waited until I was older and had a job - makes paying for things much easier and less guilt-inducing, plus now I don't have to worry about lugging a doll (or multiple) back and forth from college.

    19. As for dolls in general, I've loved them for as long as I can remember! For bjds, I've been interested since I was maybe 14ish? But didnt have the funds to get one until age 20 lol.

    20. I first got interested in BJDs back in 2016, and bought my first BJD soon after. I was in my early 20s at that point.
