1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    3. I was 14 or 15 when I first started looking into BJDs but it wasn't until I was 20 that I had the money to afford one. It's been 12 years and 24 dolls and I love my collection more and more every day...

    4. My first doll was bought when I was 23-24 or so, and I was in the hobby for a bit at that time. Now I'm 36 and getting back into it now that I can afford to.

    5. I learned about the hobby in 2011 when I was 15 and bought my first doll a year later when I was 16! I'm 26 now and have been getting back into the hobby after 9 years :3nodding:

    6. I think I was probably 13 or 14, middle school aged, when I first started learning about BJDs and lurking around, but I didn't actually take the plunge into the hobby fully until late last year, a few months after I turned 23! I've got a bit of a "long time listener, first time caller" situation lol - long time lurker, first time participator~

    7. I was 19 when I discovered BJDs through my jfashion friends, and I'm 20 now. Ordered my first doll yesterday! Took me a while to save up, but I feel that it was worth the waiting time. I tend to take at least a few months to think over large purchases, so the saving up period gave me time to think of what I'd like to do with my doll.

    8. I was 20 when I first saw pictures and got my first doll a few months later

    9. I’ve been interested in dolls since I was 14-15, but just got around to purchasing my first one at 20!

    10. I'm in my 60s too and only just got into the hobby. Always really liked dolls and dressing them up but had no idea that BJD's existed.

    11. Now approaching 65 and been in hobby here 15 years. Love it but do miss meeting my friends. Went from two meet ups a year before Covid to lucky to have a meet up last year with fewer members and masks. Keep hoping one this year as well, but numbers not encouraging.

    13. Dolls in general have always been a part of my life but I think I bought my first BJD when I just turned 20. I’m 25 now and have 4 with another on the way!

    14. I bought my first bjd in 2009 when I was 35 years old... Before then, I had been collecting Blythe and other Japanese dolls for years. And Barbies, of course. I've always bought dolls since I can remember :wiggle

    15. I was around 17! I had a friend that stumbled upon them and showed them to me one day. I got one for myself as a graduation present. Up until then I researched them constantly and ended up purchasing a secondhand Bobobie Elena. My tastes have changed (and are still changing) quite a bit since then.

    16. I was 33 when my first doll arrived, so let's say I was introduced and got addicted to BJDs in the age of 32. It took me a year to collect the money. And some Friday wisdom from your Ol' Sis: do not mind if it takes a year or more to be able to afford what you wish for. No matter how long I waited, the day when they arrived are still among the best days of my life.

    17. I was 31 when I got into BJDs in 2004; I'm 49 now and at last count I was up to 20 dolls.

    18. I can't believe it has been so long but I was probably 15 when I first got into it, I'm 30 now! :ablink:

    19. I was introduced to bjd when I was around 14. I wanted to get an iplehouse doll so bad but as an unemployed teen it wasn't happening and I was terrified of how dark skin dolls turn green with age. Now i am 25 with a job and I have a doll on the way. My tastes have drastically changed since then and the resin used for dolls has gotten better. There is a greater abundance of cheaper dolls that suit my tastes and I am happy I finally took the plunge.

    20. I first fell in love with BJDs when I was about 9 or 10, then got my first BJD when I was 12 in middle school, a Bobobie Sprite from junkyspot as a Christmas present. I'm going to be 19 this year and have 16 dolls total, 11 vinyl (DD) and 5 resin (SD).
