1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How to decide who goes with you on a trip?

Nov 4, 2016

    1. I only have MSD's and smaller (I don't even know where I'd put an SD), so it depends on who I'm willing to lug around for a few hours. I took my RS Song to a Halloween store and I forgot how heavy he was. I tend to bring them out more so on special trips then anywhere else though. I wanna take them to a conservatory since now I know their faceups won't fog up.

    2. I usually don't take my dollies with me whenever I travel because I am paranoid that something bad will happen, but this year I did take my Fairyland Haru and Crystal with me on a recent cruise. I took two of the tiniest dolls in my collection and while it was a bit of a hassle to carry them onboard since I took them on impulse, I feel that a bigger doll would have been more annoying because of the size.

Still, I was not as adventurous enough to take them to the beach.:blush

    3. I almost always take Snow because he is my main OC. But I am trying to make a yosd version of him because I have joint issues and even an MSD gets heavy for me after a while. Sophie is nice because she is only 12cm and I can fit her in an eyeglasses case!

    4. The size is very important. I'd always take a yosd.

    5. I would prefer to take a msd or yosd but I only have sd13s so I take my two main OCs, I have a backpack that fits two sd13s in it.

    6. For me it depends on the purpose of my trip. Lately my kids only travel to conventions where I am presenting. Therefore I want to make sure I have the right 'variety' for a 'what are BJDs' panel, or if I have a topic like 'doll maintenance', I bring someone who needs work that I can demonstrate with, and someone 'finished' to show the other side...

If I'm not presenting, then whoever is being 'loud' and will fit into the doll case gets to go. And as @Evoldan said, who I feel I can keep track of safely.

A few times I've deliberately brought the ones that fit with where I was going - in the appropriate costumes. So Cape Cod meant pirate costumes and themed pictures, for example.

    7. Well MK Lillian always comes with me it's choosing the second doll that's always the problem.

    8. I usually take a smaller size (yosd or smaller) when i travel out of the country.
Msd only when im in town. And i make sure tht they have their padded carrier. I usually also bring a mini chair since i like to make them sit beside me (on the table) and take their pics :)
I never took out my Sd girls out of my house, maybe because she is heavy and big.

    9. I make the decision based on the method of transportation and the photo settings I have in mind. When I travel by car, I can get any number of dolls on board, but if I fly, I have to select one of them. Checking them in as luggage is a big NO GO, and I can't bring more than one of them on board with me. (They are all SDs, 62, 70 and 80 cm.) It also depend on the purpose of the trip. I take them with me only if I stay at the same place not hopping from one city to the other and I can be sure I can safely leave them behind in the hotel whenever I have to. Doll safety first. I even have a pre-printed note that tells the housekeeping not to open the curtains or move the dolls while I am away.

    10. My main go-to doll for vacations out of the country is Shiwoo. He's my oldest and is already yellowed and damaged, so I worry about him the least. But he's also my favorite so I like having him with me.
When I go somewhere more local (like to my family's lake house) I'll bring any of my dolls, cause it's basically our second home so I'm not worried about losing anything, and I like to work on doll projects while I'm there.
On my most recent trip (to Wasington D.C.), I took my Tamikan Space Tardigrade, Fourteen, because it's small and fit conveniently in my bag. I brought it with the intention of taking pics in museums and stuff, but didn't end up doing that. It was still fun to have with me, though.
