How would you feel if someone gave you BJD clothes as a gift?

Dec 24, 2009

    1. I'd love that! :D Even if it's the wrong size or style, they actually bothered to go and try to find something for your doll which is pretty cool :3

    2. Ha, I think its really cool if anyone would buy my dolls clothes! But yeah, I suppose if it was a gift from my family, I would prefer they let me pick it out (although i love surprises). This girl in my art class is such a sweet heart, she noticed Igor when i brought him in and a week later gave me this really pretty kimono thing! She had bought a doll body for her head but apparently there was a hold up with it. She said it would take to long and gave me the clothes she got for him. It was so nice, even though the thing was to big for my dolls I was so grateful and loved it. Even though its huge it looks really good on Dorian, he can pull it off really nicely and it compliments his skin tone and hair. I wouldnt have given it away or back, but I'm super happy he can actully wear it.

    3. I would be so touched if my parents/friends/boyfriend got my bjd clothings.
I have a friend that's a BJD lover too so there wouldn't be a mistake in sizing or anything.
(this has given me an idea of what to get her for her birthday xD)
I talk to my boyfriend about BJDs all the time even if he thinks they're a bit weird, but it'd be really sweet if he got me clothes or anything for my Harrison.
I'm not really sure how he'd find a website to buy clothes from though hahah.
Same goes for my parents. :P

    4. tickled pink.. lol

    5. hm I dont know. I`m really picky about doll clothes since every doll has to have their own style. I wouldn't return it though, I just dont think it would be nice for a person who gifted it. I would keep it for future dolls. I dont think my mother would ever buy me doll clothes as a gift anyway and if she decides to do so, she most likely is going to ask for websites/sizes/styles.

    6. I would be estatic, so long as the clothes fit. They may not be quite to my taste (I'm difficult to please, I've been told) but after all it is the gesture that counts.:)

    7. It would be great (if it's the right size, you know...) :D
In fact, my mother gave me a dress that she made... I really appreciate it even when it's a little big for my girl...

Anyway... Clothes is what I need D:

    8. My family and friends would not have the faintest idea about where or how to buy clothes for my dolls but they have gotten me gift cards for a couple of online retailers on occasion. And they were much appreciated!

    9. I'd say thank you and be very happy. Even if it was somthing I did not really fancey the fact that they tried would be touching

    10. I'd crush them with my gratitude! Enough said. :D

    11. It would be pretty awesome if my mother were to surprise me with dolls clothes without my asking for it; it would say that she accepts my hobby, and that would mean a lot to me. I wouldn't mind if she asked me to pick it out, as long as it was her idea. However I'd feel a bit awkward if a friend were to ask me to pick something out.
If i were surprised with dolls clothes, I'd be happy, no matter what size or style they are. I'm fine with my dolls wearing things that are a little big on them. And I never return gifts, to me that feels so wrong.

    12. Heehee! Same here XD

My family is the sort to not want to ask questions in case it gives the surprise away, so they don't tend to buy dollstuff for me. I think it's some unmentioned agreement between us that I don't ask for monies for my doll - I either earn it, or I pay for it myself. It means that I get present money towards important stuff instead, like school/warm clothes so I don't freeze to death* lol.

*I'm a pretty cold person, it's a running joke now between me and my mother XD

    13. How would you feel if your parents, or friends got you BJD clothes but they know nothing about BJDs. They could get you the wrong size, or the wrong style!
      - It doesnt matter what style or size it is to me, it will fit one of them at least. And regardless I`d be so happy I`d cry. Because getting a present for my dolls means they accept my hobby, and right now thats what makes me happiest, because the dolls mean a lot to me. Its much more fun to get presents for them than for me. :)

Do you prefer for them to just let you pick out all the clothes?
      - No that wouldnt be fun. I want them to pick out something they think is pretty/cool, and that will make the outfit even more special. Even if its totally out there and doesnt fit my dolls, I`d never sell it because of the emotional value.

Would you return it? Regardless of how they'd feel about that?
      - No way! Maybe out of guilt for the supernice gesture, but only politely and then love it forever. >D

Or would you just appreciate their thoughts (and acceptance of BJDs) and keep the clothes?
      - Just the thought and consideration is worth their weight in gold. :D

    14. If my friends got me clothes I'd be SUPER happy since they either know or know who to ask about what to get for which doll. I would do a happy dance right there! Now on the ohter hand if my mother or other family member got me clothes I would still happily accept them, but be a little more weirded out than surprised I think. I mean my mother has some pretty good tastes, suprisingly, but it would be the sizing. More than likely it would be my dad telling her to get in touch with my friend who could tell her where to go and what size to get. I just would want to be a fly on the wall to see her reaction on the expense of things though. >-<'

    15. The only people I know that would actually buy me clothes know all about my doll and the kinds of things he would wear, so i don't have much to worry about. I brought it up to my mom (buying doll clothes as a gift for my sister's doll) but she thought that the idea was ridiculous due to the prices and such. So its safe to say I don't have to worry about her buying us anything like that, though the thought would be nice.

    16. I'd be pretty excited and grateful. Then again, I have a collection with a pretty wide spread amount of sizes, so even if the outfit wasn't the right style or size for one doll, it could most likely fit another doll. Besides, set styles have never really been my thing. Sometimes you have no idea how cute something is until you see your doll in it in person. Besides, doll personalities and styles can shift over time.

    17. Its a nice thought, if they turned out to be the wrong size I would let them know and maybe sell it and buy something more suitable with the money and show them. I have kept some items that were the wrong size for my doll people have bought me and they have ended up being used for other dolls I have ended up with! Or you could always pass them on to someone elses doll to wear.

I buy clothes for my mums BJD and my girlfriends, because I know what they like. I always say to them if youre not into it then sell and buy something else, but they usually keep them for a good while!

If people have made clothes for my doll especially as a gift then I keep them, because theres a lot of work and thought gone into them. Even if theyre not what I would pick I grow to love them because theyve been made with love.

I think if youre going to buy someone something for their dolls and arent sure what theyd like try and pick something plain, a white t shirt, a black dress, some socks etc...Then they can accessorise it and mix and match. If you are unsure and buy them something overly frilly or bright coloured they might not like it!

    18. It would be amazing if someone gave Basil some clothes! it would make him so happy!

    19. My parents would normally let me pick it out or listen to what I have been talking about. My friends if they got me the wrong style or size I would greatly appreciate it because I might be able to use it somewhere do the road for another doll. My friends know what I like so style is no option ;D

    20. I feel the same way. I wouldn't want the gifter's money to go to waste on something I wouldn't ever use.

I'd be very touched overall though. :)
