1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How would you feel if someone gave you BJD clothes as a gift?

Dec 24, 2009

    1. I'd be thrilled. I never seem to have enough clothes for my small crew, especially things like t-shirts.
As for the "what if the giver doesn't know what I like" issue, I have a Universal Amazon wishlist. You can add items from non-amazon sites and put in comments. I've gotten my parents comfortable using the list - it's easier for everyone. You could easily add favorite outfits and type in a comment "I love this dress because it's very frilly and girly. It will fit my SD size girl dolls." Or whatever is appropriate.

    2. I'd be happy that someone else loved my doll enough to get her some clothes or accessory items as a present. Hopefully they would ask the size or at least what kind of doll I had so they could do research in advance.

However I'm also practical, in that if the clothes were not a good match after trying them on, I would sell them off. After all, it's the thought that counts and not necessarily the physical clothes themselves!

    3. My mum has bought me clothes for my dolls for past holidays and I always really loved it. She has better taste than me and always pays attention to the way I normally dress them. ^^

    4. I'd feel honored someone took the time to consider buying stuff for my bjd. and a lot of people don't like/understand them so if a friend/family member takes the time and money to get some, it would be awesome! I'm sure if it was the wrong size, you could either use it for a different doll or they would understand you needed to sell it to get the right size, and then just keep them posted :)

    5. I would be extremely happy of course. XD
Though I would be really grateful if they let me choose the clothes. :)

    6. I think it would be awesome even if it was the wrong size.. or not exactly the style my doll wears.. I would if it fit one of my dolls probably take them out and in an area that I know I might be noticed and put the cloths on my doll there. So that they know I truly appreciate their gift. The cloths would prolly stay on till I got home or something.. I would be grateful.. not mad or anything.. My family mostly can not afford to buy BJD cloths so I would not even ask them..

    7. Great topic! No one in my family would attempt to buy me BJD clothes - they know that there are lots of variables. They would probably buy something based on a link I provided or would give some money towards BJD clothes. Thankfully those closest to me are very respectful of my hobby and find it interesting.

    8. I would be happy if someone make me such a gift, I hope that the clothes will be great :)

    9. I'd be thrilled. Doll clothes cost as much as people clothes, it would be pleasing not to spend that money.

    10. If someone will give me a BJD's outfit, I will be really really happy! As I know, all BJD clothers are expensive enough, and it will be a real happiness for me to put beautiful clothes on my favorite dolly!!:fangirl:

    11. Koffeey (an other owner) gave me cuuuuuute pants, and I was so happy!:D Now, if I am thinking about it, I also feel good x3

    12. I've been given clothing items before and I've been happy with everyone of them, I think it's really nice for someone to do that. :)

    13. My friend has made some things for my dolls as gifts - the best being a teeny tiny gold locket for my tiny :D But most of my friends know I'm pretty fussy/specific about what I want, so they probably wouldn't give me doll clothes :XD:

I took the risk and gave my friend a kimono set for her boy for Christmas tho, but I know her taste and her doll sizes so I couldn't really go wrong with that!!

    14. My mother let me pick the clothes I wanted when she said she wanted to buy my 1/3 doll clothes. It was partially because it was Christmas, but mostly because she got tired of him sitting around half-naked. Also, the fact that the only sewing machine I had access to at the time was older than me, stubborn, and intent on eating fabric.

    15. I would be so happy! Even if it was the wrong size, I would save it for when I had a doll the right size (because knowing me, I would have one of every size anyway at some point!) My mom actually loves my dolls and I would feel happy if she wanted to dress them in something nice too. :)

Don''t worry about it. I think it is sweet your mom is picking out something for your dolls and if the clothes are the wrong size/style and you really want something different, then you can tell your mom this and you guys can find a replacement together. That's what I would do! :aheartbea

    16. I would be very excited! In fact, one of my roommates made ones of my girls a dress for christmas cause she knew that I didn't have very many "in-character" clothing for her. It was amazing. And mom has already put aside monies for my birthday so that she can help me pick out dolly things I need. ^^

    17. I'd be happy as a clam! For someone to take the time and buy something so specific as bjd clothes, that's an honor. And BJD clothes aren't cheap either, so depsite whether or not you like the clothes or they fit, whoever did that, cares for you.

    18. My best friend told me once that when I finally got my doll, she'd buy me doll stuff-clothes included-for like my birthday and christmas. XD

If family ever bought me doll clothes, I'd be floored. I'm almost certain they'd get the wrong size, wrong style, all of that, but the gesture alone would surprise me and make me feel quite happy.

    19. I would be very grateful and thank them a lot. But if it was the wrong size, I would tell them that "Sorry, but these don't fit my dolls. They're very pretty though"

Then I'd tell them that I'd sell them or give them away to make someone else happy. Also I'd sell them if I thought they didn't fit my dolls style.

In my family we have a policy concerning clothes as gifts. If anyone finds clothes they want to buy for another person they print a picture and puts it in an envelope.
The person who recieves the envelope knows that he/she and the giver will soon sit down together and order to get size and colours right.
Or they give money so I can buy whatever I like.

But the thought put behind the gift is most important.

    20. i would be really really happy and shock ~
and i don't mind if they didn't get the wrong size because they pick that from their heart to my doll so i will keep the clothes ^^~
