1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How would you feel if someone gave you BJD clothes as a gift?

Dec 24, 2009

    1. I'd be happy that they got me clothes, but I'd want to pick them out to make sure that they fit and that I like them

    2. I would be happy but hope that they put forth the work to find something that fits my dolls and is something i would use.

    3. everyone knows i like to make my toys clothes rather than buy them. but in the unlikely event it happened i would thank them. if they were the wrong size i would modify them and i wouldnt care about the style too much coz im diverse

    4. I have made BJD clothing and have given it as a gift several times to family and friends and I've not had any complaints :)

i've also gotten clothing too and i find it very nice that they had been thoughtful.

    5. I was having this conversation with my mom today. In my family, we typically trade lists of gifts suggestions. We're a huge group and we just don't know each other as well as we might like. One of my aunts issued the challenge to spice up the lists this year, go beyond the usual list of books, cds, and dvds. Despite this, I didn't add any of doll things to mine, mainly due to the cost and confusing difficulty of ordering anything.

On the other hand, if another doll collector took the time to make me something, I would be thrilled and would likely make something for them.

    6. You could always suggest they get you like an etsy giftcard or something so you could order bjd items on etsy in the correct sizes/styles.

    7. I think it is realy awesome for family to give doll clothes as gifts, but I would rather them getting you to show then what clothes you want.

    8. If someone gave me doll clothes I would be extremely grateful because it would mean they were really considering my wants.

That said, I think it's the same as any other gift! I usually end up receiving things I don't want (like socks with toes or a make up kit with all the wrong colors.) I used to keep useless gifts out of guilt, but now I've learned it's better to just get rid of them.

So in general, if someone gave me bjd clothes in the wrong size or style, I would get rid of them (trade them or whatever.) But if I liked the outfit (like if someone gave me a doll kimono) I would keep it even if it didn't fit my bjd.

    9. Buying doll clothes for someone else is like buying real clothes for someone else... it's the thought that counts and I would definitely appreciate the thought, but that would not stop me from selling an unwanted item in order to buy something else. I am picky and much rather choose something myself, or tell them specifically something I wanted.

    10. I'd be thrilled - I've so many different dolls I'm sure they'd fit somebody LOL

    11. I would be flattered. It doesn't matter how wrong they got it, the fact that they are getting me a gift, and going out of their comfort zone to get me something that they thought I would like is more than enough. If they get the size or style wrong so what? Worst case I just trade it for something else. For me it's the intention behind the gift and not the gift itself that matters.

    12. I'd be ecstatic! I wouldn't care if it was the wrong size or style, I'm sure someone could wear it, if not now then one of my planned dolls or with a few modifications.

    13. Satisfaction and validation. :)

    14. I love when my lot gets stuff. Aharon got a set of pretty loly shoes from my mum when we got him and now all my Christmas money was spent on more clothing.
If we got things that were not quite right in size/style/etc, I would be extremly thankfull anyway and keep them anyway. They might come in handy later. I still have an MSD hoodie lying around (i think my Moxie Teens girl might be wearing it actually) for a doll I can't get around to bying, but it will happen. So nothing gets chuscked or sold.

    15. I would be eternally grateful if my parents bough me a doll. I wouldn't care if everything was all wrong, I would love it anyway! It would make me very happy if they did :)

    16. One of my dollies got a new pink motorcycle jacket for my birthday from my mother. I've been getting dollie related stuff my whole life from my family.

    17. I have both given and recieved clothes and wigs for my/their dolls as gifts. My brother/best friend gave me a number of items before i even picked out my first doll. I have given him a number of purchased and hand made doll items that have fit wonderfully without me knowing sizes. If the items dont fit i usually trade them for something that does, or save them for dolls I'm wanting that they should fit

    18. I have received clothes before, and I really enjoyed them. I make a list every year because it's a requirement for my family, and I just wrote down all of the relevant information on the list. My boy got some great underwear, socks, a shirt, new shoes, and I got my BJD carrier. It was delightful! And, even if I hadn't made a list, I talk about my dolls enough that people could figure it out. And, if the stuff was from my parents, my mom is VERY resourceful when it comes to finding out things. She's measure the doll, or somehow trick me into showing her what I wanted or thought was interesting. But, even if they got the wrong thing, my family would expect me to return it and find something that I like, and that's what I'd do.

    19. I'd love it! It would be thoghtful and special.

    20. I would be happy, no matter what they gave me. Not many people are accepting enough of this hobby to actually buy something for it. However, if I did ask my parents to order clothes as a gift, I would make sure they know the exact thing I wanted and the size. I would feel a little bad if they bought something I couldn't use.
