How would you feel if someone gave you BJD clothes as a gift?

Dec 24, 2009

    1. Well, my family has never understood my doll hobby, but my in-laws are so cool that they request a "Wish List" every Xmas from us "kids", and where to buy the items on our lists... They have us put at least 10 items on it, then they'll pick out one or two things, and that way its still a surprise. So I always get something I really want. They give us their Wish List, too, lol!
Maybe you could suggest something like that?

    2. Hum, it already happend with my man. I was so happy that he tryed by himself to find some stuff and very surprised! It's a really good surprise, except that it was not the good size but I never told him so as not to make the paine. But it's a little frustrating having something you can't use and that you can not sell.
Now I make a whishlist online on a blog or something like that just for dolls with good adress and explanation! It works well! ^^

    3. Yay free doll stuff!
The only problem is, if my mom buys it, theres a good chance it'll be some Michael Jackson clothing for Knox. x_x

    4. If I was given something related to BJDs, whether I'd use it or not, I'd be really happy. It means that someone appreciates my hobby.

    5. If my mom had the money and knew where to go I'm sure she'd do something like that. Personally, I'd just be happy with the gift, regardless of style or size. I tend to take things in pieces and work them around until they DO suit me, even if it means mixing and matching them with other stuff. Be happy with the gift, most parents wouldn't even think to buy BJD stuff for their kids, no matter how old!

    6. Do you prefer for them to just let you pick out all the clothes?
My parents let me do that and bought them for me :3 I always want to pick out things myself rather than gettin the wrong!

Would you return it? Regardless of how they'd feel about that? Or would you just appreciate their thoughts (and acceptance of BJDs) and keep the clothes?
NO, NEVER. i think that would be rude and even if its wrong, i know they thought about it :3 of course i would keep them, especially because i know how expensive they can be!

    7. This year as a belated birthday gift, a friend of mine bought me some clothes for my SD, and even got me a little outfit for my future MSD!
I was so happy! Obviously for getting my clothes for my dollie, but just for the fact that she remembered my birthday!
I forget my OWN birthday, so almost nobody remembers. lol That totally made it a very special birthday!

Guess who's getting an awesome birthday gift for HER birthday! oh yeah! totally!

    8. I would be ecstatic if someone gave me doll clothes as a gift, I would feel a little down if they werent the right size or style but to be so accepting of such an expensive hobby that they are willing to encourage it by providing for the doll is awesome, and a wonderful sentiment.

    9. XD Id feel appreciative, you could always use new clothes for your lovely boys and girls

    10. How would you feel if your parents, or friends got you BJD clothes but they know nothing about BJDs. They could get you the wrong size, or the wrong style! I'd think it was sweet of them! I have a few different sizes, and I like a lot of styles, so hopefully they'd get something that would fit. Everyone who knows me pretty much knows what styles I like, so I doubt there would be a problem that way.

Do you prefer for them to just let you pick out all the clothes? Generally I do pick them out, but I don't mind being surprised sometimes either.

Would you return it? Regardless of how they'd feel about that? I'd only possibly return it if it didn't fit any of my dolls and I couldn't alter it to fit them. Otherwise, nah, I'd keep it.

Or would you just appreciate their thoughts (and acceptance of BJDs) and keep the clothes? See answer to previous question.

    11. ill feel very happy a gift is a gift even if a dont like it.. xD
      the intencion are good :3

    12. I would keep them. Glad that they finally "accept" one of my hobbies.
I have 6 dolls so maybe one of them fits the clothes.
But it doesen't matter to me. It's a gift, selected with love (I hope)

    13. This is sort of funny since most of my friends are doll people & we generally give each other doll clothes or accessories as gifts. Whether or not they're a style that I would pick out myself doesn't really matter as they are gifts from the heart & I always find a doll that can wear them.

When my Mom bought me doll gifts she would have me pick out & order what I wanted. That was nice as I could get something I really wanted but it took the elements of anticipation & surprise out of the gift. So in a way I prefer to have something I didn't choose myself as it makes getting the gift more fun. I wouldn't return those gifts as they are an expression of my friends' love.

    14. Uhm...hmm. Sometimes just because someone may not know anything about your hobbies, doesn't mean they aren't smart enough to figure it out. I mean, she is your mom...and some Moms are pretty damned good at figuring their kids out...Some friends can figure you out pretty good too.

(I am pretty easy to figure out. XP I am a walking montage of art....)

Not all though...and that can be interesting. XD~!

I would be ecstatic to have BJD clothes as gifts.

Usually I am asked to pick out what I want, because everyone says they have a hard time "finding anything" for me. XD
I keep a list on hand when my bday/christmas comes around, to hand to my friends and family. It's pretty comprehensive and has links to sites and/or stores and item numbers and pictures.

I haven't even gotten my doll yet, but I have already been asked if I want clothes for him XD~!

Usually I give things I cannot/ do not/ will not use to others. It is my understanding, and my family and friends', that it is better to give an item you do not need, to someone who does need it.
Although in rare cases, I may be able to alter it to work for me.

    15. My birthday is coming up at the end of this month (WOOT)
And for my 16th birthday I really just want doll clothes that look good with my blue Sprite, Duchess, and a paintball party.
      Hey man, it's my sweet sixteenths! After this I buy my own junk. ; n;

    16. I'd really love getting clothes as a present. I wouldn't mind if they got them the wrong size or if I don't like them much. It's the thought that counts, and it shows they're at least supportive of your hobby.

You can always mod the clothes if you don't really like them.

I could never return a present I don't like. I might complain a bit, I admit it, but I always keep them, because it's something my family has bought out of love. I'm a pretty corny person when it comes to family things :D

    17. I'd loooove getting clothes for my dolls. Last year, for my birthday, my best friend sewed this gorgeous dress for my mini boy. I think it's the only handmade gift I've ever received, and I love it. I'd be equally as excited if someone bought me doll clothes, because geez, they're so expensive, and it would mean a lot, accepting my hobby. (Not very many do...)

    18. I'd be extremely happy.
But I would be more happy if my friends/family members had made something for my doll for a present. ex jewelry or clothes.
I'm so indecisive on clothes for my doll that i've been searching for weeks and haven't bought a single thing! At least I'd have something instead of nothing to put on her. And for me it's generally the thought that counts. Especially since it would take some time and effort on my friends/family's part. Instead of getting like a sketchbook or pen that is usually the case.

    19. I would be really happy that someone took into account my interests and wanted to do something nice for me :) It would not matter if I didn't like the item or it wasn't useable (re-gift or re-home :P). I'd still appreciate the gesture.

    20. I am a clothes wh*re xD I would be full of GLEE! And it would be very sweet, especially since most people don't understand the hobby. I'd just be so appreciative ^^
