My Mio is on a Dollzone body (NB 58-001). Proportions are great but the head does not move well on the neck. The resin match used to be very good, but the body becomes yellower than head with years.
I have one with similar issue - I've de-yellowed both with Polident and am trying to dye the head for a closer match to the body because I like the combination, but attempt four just failed. Teddy
Yes, that would help. Thank you. I don't have a particular body in mind. I'm interested in all possibilities. She still looks pretty. Thank you. Mio is one of my favourite sculpts.
I hope you don't mind these questions, I searched the forum but couldn't find much on the use of Polident. Can you share more how you use Polident? Do you use it only on blank bodies/heads or is it safe for use with sealed makeup? Have other people successfully addressed yellowing with Polident?
Oh I'm sorry for your four attempt fail! I tried something similar on an other of my hybrid (a Nyxdoll Katrina WS on old Iplehouse nYID WS body). Body is so yellowed it looks NS yellow now. But my attempt to deyellowed it failed too. I ended painting the faceup again, to match her now NS-looking body @Ardent I'm not sure as I never used polident, but I think it's safer to use it on nude dolls/face. I used steradent (which is an other brand than polident) and it was a complet fail. Moreover I think I've read somewhere that is wasn't such a good idea to use those products on resin. But I don't remember where, sorry!
@Ardent , I wouldn't dye a head but rather I would just blush it with pastels or have your artist match the head to the body. We are careful with the heads anyways so durability isn't an issue and it's completely reversible.
@Chameleon would love more details/pics on your Withdoll hybrids. Why you chose the bodies you did, which resins, pros cons? I have the Adriana cracked head in white resin I’ve been considering getting a body for from another company… but not sure.
My newest hybrid is Soom Chrom on Granado nuevo female body Happy New Year 2023 by Arengil Tajedinápravá, on Flickr
My people. I have found you. (I hope some of you are still here!) My first two big girls immediately became hybrids. I was immediately addicted. Getting the right head that's just the right proportion for the body is an obsession. Spoiler: More Spoiler: Even MOAR Can't stop, won't stop.
@MaleficentMrsofEvil Nice collection of hybrids! I have a lot of hybrids too. I think 2/3 of my dolls are hybrids? Just for the fun, all the BJD in this photo are hybrids:
okay I think my eyes has turn into little squares because I can't find anything on this subject so I'll ask here I want to hybrid a huajing doll head in the normal skin range which company is the best match?
My only SD hybrid, a Roserin/Pixydoll on a Volks SDGrB body! The match and scale are pretty much perfect.
Hi guys! Newbie here and I have a question! I'm planning to buy a head sculpt from an artist (Tianba0830) since I really really like their sculpt. I'm planning to get the 70 cm heads to use for my Carson charmdoll but if I upgrade in the future for a 75cm doll, can I still use the 70cm heads to the 75cm body? Been looking around for an answer but I'm still not quite sure and I'm quite confused ><
So the answer to that is a solid maybe! some considerations when you try to hybrid are the neck girth, shoulder width, and chest circumference. Some 70cm heads won’t even fit other 70cm bodies, because the proportions are so different—for instance Doll Chateau makes their A-03 body, with an 8.5cm neck, and 14.5 cm shoulders and a 25cm chest, compared to iplehouse’s EID man body, with a 12.8cm neck, 18cm shoulders, and a 38.8cm chest. Heads for one of these bodies would look terrible on the other, despite that they’re both technically 70cm bodies. Jumping to the 75cm body, a lot of the bodies you see are going to have thicker necks, which can make a head look smaller, and broader shoulders, which also make a head look smaller. Some people like the looks of smaller heads on broader bodies, for realism, or for the exaggerated silhouette, some people prefer more doll-like bigger headed proportions. What I would advise, is if you like the looks of the head on the 70cm body, you look for a 75cm body that has fairly similar measurements, but is taller. You may also have to mod a little—if the neck on the body is bigger than the hole in the head for the neck, you’ll have to either sand down the neck, or sand the head opening wider. If you do that, make sure you’re either wet-sanding, or sanding with a respirator on, because Resin dust is quite toxic.
I'm going to warn that a 70cm doll may have a 10.5cm neck and a 75cm doll is possibly at 12.5cm+. And, at times people prefer a 75cm pin-headed sculpts on a 70cm doll. (It's a bit to research.)
Hey guys! Thanks and really appreciate your advices! I jumped the gun and went pre-ordered the 73cm head. I think I also found the right body (by accident) but will get that maybe in the future when I'm ready to upgrade my current doll. Hopefully when that time comes, I can post the complete doll here
I rather like hybridizing dolls too. Here's my DIM Persia (2005 - very old head), on a Popodoll SD13 sized body: I adore him like this! Took me years to find a body I liked for this head, and then I finally painted him and blushed to match. Extra shot, before he was painted: DIM Persia and Popodoll 63cm body Other hybrids I have: FP65 Carol head on Maskcat 57 body: Alexis And, FP60 Alan on Peakswoods FoC Lolita girl body: Feeple60 Alan hybrid
Just wanted to show a recent picture of an old hybrid of mine! Head is an Armoire de Dandan Harlan on modded old feeple65 girl body from Fairyland, with soom jointed hands. She turned 10 years this year ^_^
