If someone damaged your doll's faceup?

Nov 11, 2010

    1. I doubt i would make much of a fuss. As long as my doll isn't damaged, its all good. A face up can always be redone. c:

      • Would you ask the person who caused the damage to pay for a replacement faceup?
of course, I would make them pay for a replacement faceup
      • Would the amount you asked for differ depending on the amount of damage (i.e. a small scratch or mushed eyelashes vs. completely ruined [but the doll is undamaged!])
it depends, if it's mushed eyelashes I'd just charge them for replacement ones but if it was damage to the actual faceup I would charge them for the full cost just because the whole things has to be redone at that point or it wouldn't seal right/look as natural
      • Would it make a difference if the faceup were a limited edition or if it were the company default?
yes, if it was a limited faceup they would pay a lot more than if it was a company default

      • What if you do your own faceups? What if you're not a professional faceup artist?
I don't think I will ever give my girl a faceup, she'll stay with her default until I decide it's time to get her painted and find an amazing faceup artist to paint her
      • Should you ask only for the cost of supplies (MSC, pastels, etc.) or would you factor in the time and effort it takes to do the faceup? Does it matter if you have spare supplies available?
I have very little time to do much of anything so I would factor in time and effort and whether or not I have spare supplies that would be factored in as well because they are being used up when they otherwise would not be
      • Would your estimation of your own faceup talents affect the amount you ask for? (i.e. some professional artist charge as much as $150, while others only charge $15)
I would charge a bit more than normal just because now I have to redo it as opposed to me redoing it just because I want to

    2. For me it would depend on A) Who damaged it and B) How badly the face up was damaged

If the face up was ruined I would probably tell them they needed to pay for it. I tend to send my dolls to the same two people for face-ups so I would just give them the prices they charge (which isn't that much)

However if it was a family member (my mother or grandmother) I wouldn't make them pay. They've done enough for me throughout the years that I can just suck it up.

Now if the face up was just a scratch or a small chip I could probably live with it and wouldn't ask for anything.
