1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If Soom released their monthly dolls as a basic line next year, how would you feel?

Jun 9, 2010

    1. Rei there is a Rem Euclase on a grey Spiritdoll body on the MP right now, and I think there is a bird Euclase there somewhere as well, take a look you may get lucky. have not seen the OE head for sale anywhere for ages though. I doubt they will do re releases in the fantasy colours if they are doing standard eds at all. i heard that they could not even reproduce the resin for Vesuvia, it was somewhere early in this thread

    2. As many have said Its not simply the elite "OMG I OWN A LIMITED DOLL" owners that are going to be upset...and there are those out there who are legitimately upset and not simply because they have their head up their asses. I know what its like to see a head and NEED that head so badly that I'd pay $300+ for it...because it needs to be THAT head to be my character...and there are innumerable people who have paid that much and more to get a head from one of the LE dolls...yes...just a head...

and in the case of say...Io...or a few others...that head may have just been a normal, ordinary, human head...

For those people...who paid a jacked up price beacause they thought there was absolutely no other way possible for them to get the head...my condolences go out to you.

    3. That's what i've been meaning to say and you said it right! lol

    4. I meaned the same. Thanks for formulation.

    5. To actually "deprive" other people from being able to purchase a doll they always wanted and/or to threaten to no longer purchase anything from a company simply because they decided to re-release a certain LE sculpt for reasons that you* paid extra or had to purchase the doll at a certain time period etc etc is just strange to me. Like many have pointed out earlier, no one forced you to buy the doll, you buying the doll from secondary market is not supporting SOOM directly plus SOOM is a business and business decisions change from time to time. And these decisions are (most probably) not made by a single person but by a board of directors or marketing managers. If you missed out on a doll and decided that it's justified to pay extra on a secondary market, then by all means, do so. Otherwise just move on and wait for a future release that may appeal to you better. C'mon, life is worth more than getting all worked up because of dolls...(while I do really really love em! hehe)

I think that it is not cost-effective for SOOM to create a new sculpt every month just to never use it again after the ordering period ends, especially if it's high demand, so this decision to re-release Beryl's sculpt is perfectly understandable and this version is significantly different from the MD version. You may not be happy about it, but there are a lot of people who would love to have her too. Heck, I have a bunch of LEs, I dont mind if they want to re-release their sculpts or the entire LE set, I got mine, I love them and I'm happy :) I dont feel less "loved" or less "special" if SOOM (or any other company for that matter) choose to re-release their LE dolls.

*(this "you" here is a generic you, I'm not trying to flame anyone, everyone is entitled to their opinions and feelings, that's why we have a discussion board :) Let's play nice yeah? )

    6. Wow, I didn't even know Beryl was (possibly) being re-released! (though it looks to me like a lottery. Or maybe even an auction for charity? That would be wonderful :D) If they were to release Soom Iv, my dollie, in basic, normal skin form, I wouldn't be upset at all because MY doll is MY doll. It doesn't matter if others have it. I would be a teensie bit upset that I had to take white because I had no other options at the time but no other doll form would replace my lovable little Dane. I think I would be happy for those that could get him and the possible loss of collector's value for my own original Iv is a non-concern of mine. I paid what he was worth to me and that value will never change. <3 Love for my dollie.

    7. While people are entitled to feel upset if they feel so, I don't think the rude and hateful comments to Soom were necessary.

This looks like either a special order or potential lottery, like others have said. In my opinion, this doesn't threaten the value of anyone's MDs.

I am curious to see if Soom will give some clarification concerning this.

    8. I will go and check them out! Who knows, eh! ;) Thanks for the heads up! :)

You know, with Euclase, I think I could manage him in white skin, maybe even normal skin - I just love his features.

    9. I wouldn't care. I shelled out a ton to get a Sard on the second hand market even though I knew I could get a Dia head and have a similar effect. I don't have his body or fantasy parts. The only thing that differentiates him is the inside of his headcap and the ears, but I was willing to pay more to have the exact version of the sculpt I fell in love with. And that was my decision and I don't regret it. I didn't buy him as an investment--I bought him because I loved the sculpt, so I don't care about resale value.

    10. The buyers were under the impression that after the particular month was over that doll would never be produced again. Some buyers were not interested in the fantasy parts at all but they still payed premium prices for the doll anyway. To discover that the same doll that was supposed to be made only for one month is being re-released in a basic version and probably cheaper, I would be upset. Essentially SOOM would be guilty of false advertising.

That's bad business no matter how you look at it.

    11. Having looked at this thread yesterday, then only to see it a prophecy fulfillled -haha  - I was absolutly shocked to see the malicouness (sp?) on the Soom page.

    12. This basically shows me (along with other compaines doing similar things) that I should never buy a 'limited edition doll' as sooner or later it will either be re-released or released in another form that will not justify the 'limited' cost.

I'm sorry SOOM, you were once a favorite but now you've lost me, this is both bad business (lying to consumers) and bad taste (in the art world it's generally considered VERY bad form to offer more prints of something that is numbered or limited).

    13. I'm one of these people, and it's the only reason I'm annoyed. I wasn't new to knowing about bjds, but it was my first time ever considering buying one. The doll that blew me away was Chrom. I joined the forum with hopes of being able to eventually buy him. I did. From a very nice person, for 1400.00. I don't regret it one bit, but I'm kind of sad since the only part I'm going to use of Chrom is his human form. He's in NS. To now know, I could potentially pay half of what I did in March for a basic makes me sad.

To be clear, I don't have any problems with anyone having MD sculpts as basics. I will be one of the first people to jump on an Onyx basic release if they make her with the romantic eyes. I'm just dismayed at having had to pay an expensive lesson with my very first doll. :(

      You're psychic!

I think that's the key difference here. This is only surprising, because it's never been what Soom does regularly. Although, I admit I prefer human forms. So, if an MD sculpt gets released that I like, I will be happy to know I don't have to pay more for a limited and I can just wait.

    14. Ack.. I have no idea what happened to the rest of my post... damnit.. >_>

    15. I'm amused by this and people's irrational behavior, get over it and yourself.

It's not Soom's fault that you bought a limited second-hand and paid out the butt for it. You need to be mad at the person who sold it to you. No one forced you to pay that price, you didn't need to have the doll. And if you only wanted it as a human sell off the fanstasy parts. Problem solved.

Releasing a face mold on a human body is not the same as releasing a head mold with speical parts, skin colors, accessories, etc. I'm for one glad that they are release the head molds on human bodies. I hope that they release Sard, Amber, and Vega (in tan skin.) And maybe they'll release Chalco in tan. And I just paid for a Chalco in tan, I'd like for him to have a twin. Then again I only paid $500 for him because I sold off all his parts. So I basically paid for a basic doll.

    16. This.

Also, I don't understand why people are accusing Soom of false advertising. A) Soom said they would never release that LE again, which they never have -- no clothes, no fantasy parts, different skin color, etc. A limited edition isn't just the face sculpt, it's the entire set. B) This isn't even going to be basic? If it was, it would probably have been under the "Super Gem" category, not a "Chance" category.

I can't really understand why anyone is getting upset over this at all. If Soom can make more customers happy by offering a second chance that isn't quite the same as the first, more power to them for listening.

    17. People are claiming Soom lied, from what I've seen from other doll companies, I have to assume is the same with Soom, companies say "No this will not happen" ALL THE TIME

Anyone remembet luts saying they wouldn't make a tan shiwoo and then the VERY NEXT DAY they released a tan shiwoo? The higher ups aren't likely to tell the lower people doing the translating on the Q&A very much, its likely no one means to "lie"

      edit:

just thought too, because english is not their strong point, some things could be lost in translation, someone could have thought a person was asking to be sold a basic doll or something personally, and so obviously they said it is not possible

      also

they never made a large scale PUBLIC announcement saying "We will never sell these molds again!!"

This bit of information was given to individual people who asked, so again, it might not have been what the company intended to get out if a translator answering questions worded it that way to an individual

    18. MicroRNA - Why be sad, if you have your Chrom (= gorgeous boy! :)) at home? When I first bought Beryl, I knew I would most likely sell her fantasy parts and I did and got buyers pretty much straight away for all those bits I didn't want/wouldn't use. This is a very expensive hobby and I'm sure lots of people would like to not have to pay so much for their beautiful dolls, but this is what they cost and this is one of the hobbies I have chosen. I think we have to take the good with the bad....for example, paying ridiculous customs charges...I complain about it lightly, but still suck it up and expect it.

I DO understand the viewpoint that some feel they have been misled or lied to, but I strongly feel, as others have said too, that business decisions change all the time, we do not know what goes on in the boardroom. The only decision we have to make is whether or not we like a doll and if we're going to pay what they are asking for it. Maybe it even took a while for SOOM to realise that the tidal wave of requests for Beryl was not going to stop and they conceded, but in a fashion so as not to upset the Never Ending Dream owners. Who knows, maybe the person responsible for saying 'never again' does not even work for SOOM anymore....

I've been reading this thread on and off most of the afternoon and evening now and I still can't believe people are angry that they paid over the top prices for her and are angry at SOOM for that - HUH?! As stated somewhere before, I paid over $1600 for mine when I had her..why...because, I fell for her hard and was happy to pay what it took to get her. When she was in my home, I didn't think twice about her cost, I was just struck with her awesomeness :)

    19. Although I do sympathize with those who paid inflated MP prices for their dolls, you really didn't have to. It was your own choice, and I'm not sure how that makes Soom responsible for your own spending choices. Especially on something that's a luxury item--not a necessity.
