It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. If Soom released their monthly dolls as a basic line next year, how would you feel?

Jun 9, 2010

    1. I don't think violently bashing Soom, ESPECIALLY on Soom's company page is mature or acceptable in any way shape or form EVER.

However, I don't think bashing people who are frustrated by this (especially the ones that AREN'T bashing Soom on their webpage) is mature or kind either.

People are allowed to have feelings that don't line up with your own.

So for the people who expressed frustration by MATURELY stating how they feel.... you just came off as an insensitive jerk.

Harsh words don't hurt the extremists that are doing all the serious flame throwing... because obviously they don't care in the first place, it hurts people who are frustrated, but being reasonable about it by stating how they feel and why in a sane way. What you said insults them by essentially saying "get over it".

This whole post was just as rude as some of the posts by the people who are flamethrowing on the Soom page... it's just rude going the opposite direction, which doesn't make it any better.

    2. I'm not being negative. Have you read the messages that people have left on the Soom site? I just think it's an irrational way to react to something. Espeically something that they have no control over.

It would have been one thing if you gave Soom $1200 dollars they never sent a doll, that's a reason to be angry. But Soom releasing a head mold, not even the entire limited doll, just the head mold, that's a completely different cast from the original head.

It's not even the same doll, so I don't undersand all the anger. I just finished paying off a Tan Chalco and if they wanted to release him tomrrow I wouldn't care. What they do has nothing to do with me.

I think some people are taking this way to personally.

    3. As I stated before, I do own MD dolls, and it hasn't really bothered me. I am paying off my Monzo at the moment, and if they re-released him tomorrow normal I honestly wouldn't care.

    4. Yes, i probably do come across as rude. I suppose that's my way of speaking. I never said i wasn't a bad person myself.

I think that if those frustrated people can be cold, Why shouldn't the other side be allowed to speak up?

      Most of that post was aimed at the extremists. It was my "vent." I'm sorry if i'm a jerk. But other people are claiming it's okay to vent u__u;

I already said i too own a MD, and i REALLY can't see the big fuss. that's all.

I don't really understand why people are getting so annoyed about a doll that's not even the same.

So far i've found that people that are upset are bringing either soom's "lies" into it, or the money they've lost.

If someone can find me a screencap on the site that states in black and white that soom have taken a public oath to never re-use a sculpt again, i will apologise publically. but i don't see one.

as far as i'm concerned soom responded to people's comments about re-release in the light of...

"Are you going to re-release the MD limited Beryl?"

Soom said "No. we will not."

this easily states that they will not re-release the MD version of beryl. ^^; i see no monthly parts. no outfit. no wigs or FU that even resembles the original beryl.

If you want me to edit my post out i will, but it won't change the fact that people have a right to be upset that there's so much hate going around the forum about a company who have not been proven to be bad .__.

I'm sure alot of people here feel that others need to grow up regarding their attitude. Hell, i'm sure people think *I* need to grow up for saying what I did. That's all part of being in a big community. People disagree. Oh well.

Like i said. if you want the post changed, tell me. not that it's changing how i feel towards the people I aimed it at.

(I don't class it as a personal attack. I'm doing what most people here have done. venting my frustrations.)

    5. Wait-- isn't New Beryl also LE? If so, then I don't see where this Normalskin Love Me Or Die LE Beryl is any threat to the "limitedness" or "specialness" of the Whiteskin Never-Ending Dream LE Beryl. They're two totally different editions. So your original Beryl is still an LE. Just because there was a second Limited release does not mean the first release is not also Limited. It means both Beryls are LEs. What part of that is so difficult to understand?

Whenever I heard Soom repeat "sorry, rerelease is impossible with our Monthly Dolls", I always took it with huge chunk of salt; doll companies are always saying "no, we have no plans to do [X]", two weeks before they do [X]. You get used to it after awhile.

My Vega already exists in basic human edition; in fact he was human (and female!) before he was ever released as an LE Monthly. Soom always used to operate like that in the old days, so I never even blinked. My doll was simply the Limited brother in a whole family of Basic Edition brothers & sisters-- so what, big deal. ^^

Most of the snarking & abuse I'm hearing here is a lot of kindergarten-style gloating & Nyaa-Nyaaing from non-owners, who are very eager to tell owners that they're not special at all. Talk about people who need to grow up!

    6. I don't think you're a bad person, I just think you're outraged by how unreasonably awful some people are acting... it just seemed your post was directed to *everybody* that was even a little ticked off about it. Now you've clarified... I'm mad at the Soom bashers too. I DID enrage when I first saw Beryl, because I know so many people had asked them about it, and I HATE it when someone says one thing and does the complete opposite. Rwarlalalalala. lol... BUT it's whatever, you know?

Beginning to regret starting this thread at all, because what if Soom like.... sees it, and sees all the rage and fighting and crap in it... and they see my happy little name at the top of the first page... my Soom handle is the same as my DoA one. "We'll NEVER SHIP OUT THIS GIRLS DOLL NOW! HA!" Ok so I don't really think they'd do that, but it makes me wonder. :P

    7. Ok, maybe it would of been better in the debate forum, but I dont think they would do that nocturneofsilence.

    8. I know it's been mentioned in the thread before but seriously, this. Doll companies are notoriously close-mouthed about future plans and releases and the default answer you get from most companies when you ask about things like this is some form of "no" even if they actually do relase that doll or offer that option that you asked about later on. I don't think it's malicious on the part of the company, and I also doubt that the person answering the Q&A boards is the same person making the decision. Remember that big news story a couple of months ago when someone who worked for Apple lost their 4th generation iPhone and the guy who found it called Apple help, only to be told that that phone didn't exist? Well, obviously the phone did exist because it's been announced publicly now. Apple is, of course, a much larger company... but in any company the customer service staff are not told all of the inner workings of the company and it's product releases.

As for depreciation of value... I'm not gonna go crying to the shop because we paid $3000 for a TV last year and now it sells for half the price. And we knew that if we waited it would probably go down in price. We spent the money because we wanted a nice TV and we wanted it when we bought it, not a year later or two years later. Sometimes the money you spend on something can't be made back, so look at that money as the cost of the enjoyment you've gotten out of your item, whether it's a doll or a pair of shoes or a TV.

On another note, I'd be willing to bet that Soom has probably had more requests and queries about re-releasing Beryl than they sold of her original LE. So they're theoretically making more people happy by re-releasing this doll than by not... where's the horrible customer service in that?

    9. To be honest I'm really put off with how a lot of people are handling this, on both sides. I personally do not agree with Soom releasing their MDs again. I, and other people, have bought some of the monthlies purely for their sculpt, so having it released again makes me feel kind of iffy. I said this earlier, but some people still seem to forget: What about the dolls that were originally released in ns, and with no fantasy head? In that case I suppose Soom could release them in ws, but I would be beyond irritated if they released (for example) Chrom of Io in ns again.
Most of my current dolls are limited. Not because I'm some elitist who likes shoving my limited dolls in other peoples' faces (as some of you in here would seem to believe). Sure, I like the fact that they're limited, but I buy them because I love the sculpt–that and the fact that standards tend to fall behind limiteds on the priority scale. We can all act like money doesn't matter and it's all about loving our dolls, but when I spend this much money on something I want the facts to be laid out beforehand. Soom said these dolls were limited and were not going to be rereleased. Yes, company representatives and heads and whatever will change over time, but in this case I think they should have just said 'we don't know if it will be rereleased.'
The fact that Soom was not upfront about releasing MDs again (even if it's only in limited numbers) is an acceptable reason for people to be upset; however, some of the comments on Beryl's page are outrageous and embarrassing to me as a fellow 'collector'.
All of the people that are bitching about 'elitists' and the people that disagree with Soom's actions are no better than the people bitching about Soom. Bringing in cuss words and telling people to shut up is just immature and made me seriously reconsider posting here at all.

RawrRawrRawr, end rant. This is most likely my last time checking this thread since a lot of the responses are just making me angry.

    10. You say.... as they tote my AI off to a dark resin prison cell somewhere....... LOL!

And it should be in the debate forum... but.... I coincidently posted it the DAY before the Beryl got released, I just thought it would be a like... "this is how i feel" and then people would never come back to read what other people wrote.

    11. I wouldn't let it get to you too much ^^. In the end, its all just dollie nonsense that we all love.

    12. I'll make sure my Monzo smuggles her out ;D.

    13. Lol xD im sure they won't hold your doll captive xDD

If they do... Lilly (our little Ai :'D) will go and claim her for you!

      AI POWER xD

    14. I'm in total support of soom re-releasing their dolls. I mean no one had a problem when they had a lottery awhile back giving people a second chance at some of the MDs as well as the NS Sards. It looks like they aren't releasing the fantasy parts or making the dolls exactly the same so I don't see the problem. I would feel bad for the people who bought the dolls just for the human parts and couldn't sell the fantasy parts but it was their choice and obviously thought it was worth it regardless. I hope they re-release Euclase, Skoll or Dia in tan, I would just about die of happiness... infact any of the MDs in tan and I would probably have to nab one >w<

I had to LOL@ whoever wrote on the soom site they were going to take soom to court though... fffin' hilarious XD I hope other people got a good laugh from that too.

    15. happier! and i sure hope they would offer more NS ¬_¬ their dolls are beautiful BUT i hate WS and i never have enough money when they are released >.<''
but the way you said it made them a bit less interesting. only humans? i love their weird ears! i wouldnt mind not having the hooves and stuff but i enjoy their ears!
and if they sell them as regular dolls then just had hooves and clothes that would really s**k to call these ''limited''
BUT if they stopped making only limited dolls and focused more on basic dolls and once in a while released a limited doll (new face) then that would be nice ^^

    16. An image of an Afi with a tiny machine gun and fedora saying "I'll make you a deal you can't refuse." in a shockingly perfect Marlo Brando voice and a somewhat frightened Soom employee saying ""Leave the gun, take the cannolis." just popped into my brain.

My brain is such a scary place sometimes.

    17. >>I<< bought a MD doll at an inflated price - the seller however wasn't scalping/profiteering/scamming by inflating the price - the poor dear was hit with 40% duty on each part of the MD she spent time accumulating as she too missed out on purchasing a the time of its release - Then hit the skids by losing her job admidt the ecconomic downturn in Greece - I have admittedly a long layby (6 months) with her for the Vesuvia Fullset with everything for a grand total that is about twice the cost of the original doll - the price I am paying for the doll has no bearing on how I feel...

Now refering to your comment that
had absolutely no bearing whatsoever on my decision to purchase the MD - and yet I am upset that Soom having told me that they could NOT re-release Vesuvia as it was "impossible with our Monthly Doll" would say and do the same thing to the Beryl owners/people who missed out Beryl - I'm not a hater/flammer/irrational person but I do expect honestly, if there was some intent at some point however distant or unlikely at the time the correct response would be - we will not be re-releasing the sculpt - it is a possiblity in the future... as against nope never going to happen.

I resent that those who are upset "miffed" genuinely about the faux pas Soom have committed in saying NO NEVER and then doing the opposite are being labeled as unreasonable - For me its not about the price - and never was about the price - but like Savaille said the facts are the facts when we are given them - to have the facts changed.... well thats what irks me....

    18. The problem is alot of people who got Beryl or other LE MD dolls bought them with the assumption that there wouldn't be other releases even LE of that mold. So the preceived 'specialness' is/will be lost for some people, because the value is in the rarity of the mold not the rarity of the mold+skin color+parts+faceup, etc.... The company is well in it's right to do what it wants, and re-release, but when asked originally about if they would re-release, Soom seemed to be stating rather certainly that they wouldn't do re-releases.

I remember when they did the re-release of 1 of each of the LE dolls as a sort of lottery. People were upset by that, but less so because there was only 1 of each released. But now once again Soom is re-releasing a doll that people were assured wouldn't be re-released, and no one knows how many are being released, if more LE MDs will be re-released, etc... So there is alot of anger and fear.

I'm annoyed because it seemed like they wouldn't re-release at all, and now they are. And I feel lied to. I know I can't change the matter, the company can do what they want, but now Soom has become yet another company that you can't trust to not re-release a doll. Now I can assume it's very likely that if I just wait long enough, they will come out with a doll that was LE again.

A Beryl has not lost montary value, but it has/will loss some of the preceived value it has based on the rarity of the mold, because there simply will be more beryls available.

If there were 100 LE MD dolls, and they release say 100 of the new Tan Beryl, that mold WAS 1 in 100 and now is 1 in 200, if the other stuff doesn't matter to you. Now say they did 100 LE MD beryls, and only 10 of the Tan Beryl. The original still has gone down because it's again 1 in 110, and while the tan beryl has a mold value of 1 in 110, it has a color+mold value of 1 in 10 vs 1 in 100 for the LE MD. And if when/if either happens, again people will be upset/angry. Numbers matter to some people. (shrugs)

    19. Thanks Vampireanneke - I think you conveyed what I meant more effectively :)

Its her face that makes her her not the stuff that came with her....

    20. I just wanted to say that I don't like the idea of Soom re-releasing the same MD doll molds. Sure, they may not come with their limited parts or may not be the same skin color, but they are still the same mold. Some people buy the MDs nude and customize it themselves (example - faceup, blushing... sometimes even dye the skin color tan or some other color) so the only thing that really matters is the mold. I hope I explained my opinion clear enough.
