1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If Soom released their monthly dolls as a basic line next year, how would you feel?

Jun 9, 2010

    1. The Aphan doesn't seem to be a monthly doll at all, despite the catagory he's in. It doesn't say "MD-June" or "MD" at all anywhere on him... I have no idea what he is... it's almost like he was some decoy for the real one XD

    2. I can't help thinking that there must have been some kinda company re-vamp going on, with the discontinued dolls, phasing out and the new releases we're seeing now.

In the grand scheme of things though, I think it's good that they increase the number of dolls that are available at any one time if this is what they are doing....just to use Dollmore for example or Luts, the 'general stock' of dolls available is significantly larger to what Soom currently has and having a variety of type available is going to appeal to more people.

    3. I thought that "Beryl - Love Me or Die" was a theme fullset like they used to do with the Gem dolls - that she would include a special long, dark wig, outfit( just pants? How daring o.o), and limited faceup.

However, it appears it is just a nude NS Beryl, with a special faceup option if you want it.

Therefore, the "Love me or Die" name is kind of funny if it's just a Beryl - in the context of people leaving rude comments, it makes me laugh imagining her saying, "I'm Beryl, I'm being rereleased, get over it and be happy about it OR I'LL KILL YOU >:["

    4. Definitely, Hobbysue. These are the same conclusions I have had in regards to LE releases over the years. I understand why people are upset about it, but if you've been involved in the hobby longer you definitely tend to see that this is the trend. I'm a lot more used to it now than let's say five years ago.

    5. this is what i hope happens!! could get all the ones i want!

    6. It also has him under the category "remaining story" not sure what that means. I think my hubby wants him. He is adorable.

    7. I wonder if (because Soom said they'd be discontinuing their MD this year) it means the Remaining Story dolls will be released as LE, but more infrequently.

    8. Makes it sound like these are ideas they were really pleased with and wanted to sculpt, but they're just kind of "side characters" in the grand scheme of things. :) I am really loving the new randomness!

    9. :) Sounds like it too! I am also loving the new randomness!

    10. They're REALLY into their stories- It could also be planned MDs (I heard they plan them many months in advance- makes sense! Imagine the work that goes into making one!) for next year- they want to stop doing MDs so... why not release those ones now? XD

    11. I REALLLLLY like that they released two dolls so quickly... it's complete agony for me waiting to see what doll is going to come out the next month....

I obsessively check the webpage when I know the release time is coming closer!

Does anybody else do that? PLEASE tell me i'm not alone!

    12. Well, the first batch of Beryl LMoD sold out in less than 20 minutes apparently, so I think 'unlimited' MDs are set to do pretty well if Soom continues with them :daisy

    13. I get the feeling that tells us right now just what the fan reactions have been. I'm sure no amount of screaming from unhappy people will be enough to counteract a hugely successful release. :)

    14. Once a doll sells out that rapidly, they will definitely re-release it. The chances are that we can look forward to most of the MDs getting released again gradually depending on their original popularity.

    15. Seriously, that's a fast sell. Look at the Dollmore limiteds. There are still tons of them available from years ago, and some of those are in releases of only 5 or 10, so that's a really good turnout. haha

    16. Bwahahahaha!!! Either that or "your mileage may vary." ;)

I'm still thinking this is how they plan to replace the basic SG line (no idea bout the MAs though), by offering basic versions of the MDs in limited quantities. And then offering different versions each time. That way they can keep the quantity to a number they can comfortably produce and by offering different versions of Beryl (wig/face up/outfit/resin color/body type) they can get people to come back for a second or even third version. They have their fans dancing on a string and they know it. . . if the warp speed sales of this Beryl is any indication. :XD:

    17. So just to check are SOOM re-releasing their monthly does as basics or is it a hypothetical question?

    18. It started as a hypothetical question, and then two days after the original post Soom re-released Beryl, making it seem like this was indeed the situation. However, the Beryl re-release was actually limited (so imho her re-release seems like it aught to be off-topic for purposes of this discussion.)

So far there isn't much evidence to suggest that Soom is re-releasing their MDs as basics.

    19. As AwesomeNinjaPowers said- but the added side note of knowing Soom's erratic behaviour, it may not be all that hypothetical for long ^^

    20. I was just thinking about something... You know what would be the best thing ever? If SOOMed rereleased another version of Sard. A TAN Sard. It would be awesome if he was an elf, but he would be okay if he was a human!

      Just a random dream!:aheartbea
