1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If you could see/want a positive BJD breakthrough...

Sep 15, 2006

    1. I dont like the feeling of missing out no limited dolls either, so I guess if they released them again for a whole year =D .

I'd like some remote-controlled vehicle for the doll! Like a car or helicopter, something that the doll can sit in while you fly/drive them around ^_^ . I imagine the motocycle would be dangerous for them, so not so much hoping for that.

    2. It's been done!! :D

      http://www.krbussman.com/Misc/boycomparisonshots.html

Karin has created a really brilliant comparison area on her site -- it's been very useful to me in the past!

I've seen two very cool commercially-made mermaids (one by Dollish/Dollishly and one by Orderhouse), but they were one-offs . . . Patl made a really neat jointed mermaid out of polymer clay (in the Artist's section), as well :>

I think a mermaid-tail option lower torso would be awesome!!

      -- A :D

    3. Less expensive eyes and some sort of modification that gives the BJD the appeareance/sensation of a heartbeat and breathing.

    4. I wish there was an incredible breakthrough in stringing so that we weren't still stringing dolls with the same materials as they used in the 19th century! There has to be a better way than wrapped rubberbands!

    5. I would like to see a resin that won't yellow, or at least not as quickly. I'd also like more assurance that if a dolls resin starts to do something weird, or break a few months after being purchased, the company that made it won't just ignore the problem or say that it's normal.

I'd like to see stores stop using "pleather"/PVC to make things. It has about a 10-15 year lifespan before it falls apart. BJD stuff is too expensive for that.

    6. Depending on the size of the doll... I've seen remote control cars at radio shack that are big enough for an msd. Only problem is they don't have a rollcage. And there's no way I'd put a doll in one... but technically they're big enough and to scale.

    7. Just thought of this one:

I'd like to be able to have a white Megu without having to pay all that extra for ONE option. I know the white is a FCS option but if all I'm changing is the color then come on!

    8. I wish that Volks had an online FCS...so it wouldn't be as tough to get....and I wish the shoes were a little less expensive. and I agree about the more varity in male clothing.

    9. I'd like something in the UK. Luts preferably, coz thats pretty much the only company where I like almost all the boys face moulds (i dislike girls, but Lishe is the only non-tiny girl I'd consider getting). Their body's are amazing and it makes me sad that I can't just walk into a store and choose things.

I know part of the thrill is not knowing what theyre going to be like, but I'd never seen a doll before I bought Ryuji, and I didn't know if I'd spent £350 on something I didn't really like.

even just a clothes shop would be ace.
      please?
      xoxo

    10. Well---that would rock- I know I was dissapointed to hear that when Volks released the ROBOFIE, it wasn't a mechanized dollfie! :doh :...(

    11. People getting off Dollzone's back... I don't believe in attacking doll companies and feel it makes for unneeded controversy.

    12. I agree LOL If you don't like a doll, then don't buy it. Nothing will get rid of a company quicker than no one buying their dolls. But the constant complaining/whining/ridiculing only succeeds in annoying everyone, and making people who disagree or own a dollzone doll Feel badly.

    13. More furniture for SD-sized dolls. *sigh* I can't find anything that I want that's not prohibitively expensive. I guess I'm going to have to learn to make my own. :|

    14. Can people please resist the temptation to spill DollZone controversy into other threads? Dollzone is a business out to make money, not our special friends.

    15. It hadn't spilled into the thread. Two comments were made and they wern't even about any of the things people have been arguing over.

I agree with what was said too. Reguardless of what it's over I'd like a BJD community where no one is looked down upon based on what company their doll came from. This isn't just about Dollzone. I remember for awhile at least some DoD owners were looked down upon. Or in a few rare cases anyone who wasn't a Volks owner or a CP owner or ect... *shrugs*

And all the companys are out to make money. With a very small number of exceptions the groups who people purchase these dolls from are companies. Even if the company consists of only about 20-50 people they're still in it to make money. That doesn't mean we can't love and cherish our dolls and it doesn't mean the individual sculptors don't care.

As for the pony comments... I'd rather have a working katamari. I'd use it to roll up rushhour on the 405 freeway. *wanders off to make a dolly sized Katamari prop*

    16. More accessable FCS. It's pretty frustrating living in the same state as the volks store and knowing that my realistic options for owning my own FCS doll are no different than they were when the stores were only located in Japan. An online FCS system would be a dream come true. On that note, it would be nice if Volks released some new standards, since they haven't done so in years. They've been doing some interesting things with their sculpts and joint systems recently, but nothing that's been integrated into their standard line, which seems a bit odd and pointless. I know there were rumors of a new SD13 standard boy a while back, but I guess those turned out to be just rumors.

Also related: Less markup and less scalpers in the secondhand market. But that's pretty much a pipe dream. I hate the fact that because I can't get the money together for a limited in the space of few weeks from annoucement to sale that I then have to pay several hundred dollars more in the second hand market if I still want the doll.

I agree with whoever suggested more variety in doll clothes and shoes. Most of the shoes I see available for my girl are either fancy stomping boots or lolita-influenced mary-jane type shoes.

This past summer I visited the Caithness glass factory, which makes some amazing glass paperweights. In their factory store they also sold "seconds", which were marked-down paperweights that were flawed in some small way and thus deemed unsuitable for sale at regular price. I'd love for BJD manufacturers to do a similar thing--that is sell the parts that weren't quite up to snuff for being assembled and sold as a full doll (either due to a part having too many bubbles or being warped or cracked in some small way)

That way it would be easier and less risky for people who wanted to do more extreme mods and customization to do so without the fear of ruining a very expensive item. It would also be a great way for people to test the limits of certain types of resin and we could find out once and for all what sort of materials could harm or damage dolls. Right now there is a lot of rumor and dodgy facts surrounding this, since most people discover things through unfortunate accident or are otherwise not willing to sacrificy something that cost upwards of 500 bucks in order to test. (and understandably so!) Plus it would mean less waste, since the damaged parts would get thrown away by the manufacturer otherwise.

I'd also like it if more places started offering eyes for sale in 12mm.

    17. The option for locale shops to sell items in their store like wigs, eyes, ect.

Lower cost on clothing! I don't spend 50 bucks for a shirt or pants or even shoes on myself! There's no way I'm spending it on my doll! And shoes! I'd love to get my girl a pair of 'hooker boots' for under 50, again, I didn't even pay that much for mine!

      Everything else is good ^^

    18. for me, I hope to see... wigs that has no distinct wig cap line, you know.. like the kind that has a silicon thing that kinda blends with the skin tone then the hair are planted to look natural at the hairline. I would willingly pay more for that -.-
Really hate it that i can't tie their hair up and not have a wierd looking edge on top of the forehead.

It wold be really nice of dollshe comes out with more hands sculpt too <3

I guess when we jumped into this hobby the price is already set, thus I am pretty okay with the pricing. If they are good workmanship that is. Something that is like sewn uneven with one half being an inch longer than the other is just not acceptable to be $30. Something thats very well made IS worth a few hundreds.

    19. Lets see...

More dollys with kitty ears that are minis and different sizes.

Oh and optional tails with different colors.

More american dealers of the dolls, and other countries too.

Maybe some dollys that are like the cute mini computers in Chobits. And some dolls that fight like the ones in Angelic Layer...or just a way to make dollys move and dance.

Dragon Ball Z capsules, so you can store a ton of stuff in a thumb sized capsul with the press of a button. I can then clear stuff away so I can have more room for my dolly. *hee*

    20. Tennis shoes, sneakers, converse, and other flat-soled shoes that fit SD13 boys.

More t-shirt availability. There aren't a lot of companies that sell plain / screened t-shirts.

More carefully strung dolls. I'm tired of receiving a doll only to find that it's strung too tightly / loosely. Why can't they check that before sending? >F For those of us who are chickens when it comes to stringing (though I'll do it if it NEEDS to be done) it can be quite the pain.

And why do companies make dolls with waist joints that are a pain in the butt to work with (i.e. Dollshe and Iplehouse boy bodies >F). Don't get me wrong, I love my Iplehouse boys to bits, but I get so frustrated with that joint!

Something that magically aligns eyes so that I can stop positinioning them all wall-eyed. Yeaaaaaaah, that'd be lovely.
