1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If you could see/want a positive BJD breakthrough...

Sep 15, 2006

    1. Yes, that kind of thing, only for girls. I would really like his outfits if they'd fit a female doll. But I did kind of have tweed skirts in mind, and not in the crossdressing sense. ;)

    2. an end to the "brand wars"

    3. I'd like to see a perfect automatic language translator so that it would be even easier to talk to companies! :D And for each doll group to be able to respond quickly. I know there are good reasons why they can't. Just wishful thinking that they'd be doing well enough to be able to.

    4. I would like to see someone start a thread or better yet a website for face up templates. I know their a thread like this somewhere on DoA.

But I was thinking that doll owners would take pictures of just the face of the doll without faceup (one straight on and one at 3/4 view) and then the picture would be hosted (whom ever took the photo and model would be credited) and then people could just download them and practice faceup ideas on Photoshop or whatever program they have.

    5. I'd like it if all doll companies had stores or representatives in Europe so I wouldn't have to deal with customs and wait months to get my things home.

It would be nice to be able to buy body parts instead of a whole body if something got damaged.

And I'd like to have a bjd community in Portugal to see some other dolls personaly, but that's not possible :doh

    6. Or, why can't we just appreciate eachother's differences and that some people love stuff we might not, and let them like what they like? Why does it all have to be so judgemental? We have hobbies and fandoms for FUN, right?

Those attitudes have never turned me off BJD ownership or creation, but they do steer me away from communities and meets... a lot.

Also, as far as the original post and a "cost breakthrough"... resin's not going to get less expensive. Probably ever. The prices of the two kinds of resin I use for casting have gone up nearly 60% (each) in the past 2 years. I can't even imagine what would bring those costs down.

    7. more doll size paterns would be great et DJB/doll shops so there's less shipping fee and..less waiting! lol

I understand the doll's prices and I'm not against it though I think 300-400$ instead of 500-600 would be more reasonable.

    8. I'd like to see pregnate female bodies, or options. Or chubby/fat girls and boys. Everyone's so pretty and skinny. x.X; I know it might kill some range of movement since the chub might be resin, but it sure would be nice to see. I'm half tempted to experiment with body suits.

    9. Less pretty boys! To clarify syntax- that's boys who happen to be less pretty, not that I'm hating on the quantity of gorgeous guy BJD out there. I understand that everyone wants a doll that's 100 percent lovely, but I wanna see some squarer features. I think it would take some of the guesswork out of showing off boy dolls, and making character dolls of someone like say, Jimmy Hopkins without having to get a Minimee head or something.

I second Jao on dolls with a little more to them. 'Fat' as most people understand it would be hard, but womanly curves a la Pre-Raphaelite ladies (going hand in hand with the strong jaw... looking at Lady Lilith right now and smiling) or stockier built bodies would be nice.

Clothing being interchangeable between brands would be nice. Or... gasp... stores/outlets in the US to make shipping a bit more manageable.

    10. Yes, please. :aheartbea Except I'd like some in Australia too.

    11. American distributors for companies BESIDES DollZone ;) (Yes, I know, there are a few options besides DZ. But I want a Dream of Doll dealer over here, for example.)

I think THAT would be an amazing breakthrough. I don't mind paying the price for the dolls themselves because I know how much work goes into them...I simply mind fattening the postal service's wallet in an exorbitant fashion. ;)

Ugh, I'm not against chubbier bodies at all, but imagine, for a second, how much a "curvy" SD doll would weigh, please. No thanks, man. Until resin gets lighter...

    12. More online stores in europe. I hate custom fees, they just seem so unfair :sweat

    13. Who are *you* calling a man? :: pose of toughness crumbles, runs off to cry in the bathroom ::
Ah, never mind. More to love, eh? Oh, and light resin, I'm sure that's been stated quite a bit. Goodness.

I'm in no hurry for faster shipping as long as it's reliable. I'm not frightened of my used books from Barnes and Noble being damaged (except the fact that my copy of Diana Gabaldon's Voyager has a huge hunk ripped out! Jeez!) as long as they come in a couple days but I'd be willing to wait several weeks for lower priced but careful shipping from overseas.
And I'm always considering odd things... for a curvier doll, how would they sculpt the... er... pelvis to accomodate wider hips? I think the sort of classical look would go well for how utterly ideal some BJD bodies are. Not a freckle or stray hair in sight unless you paint it there.

    14. A Volks store in Canada! XD

Also, it would be great if the stores could restock their clothing and accessories faster, or have more available to purchase.

    15. First off, I'd like to see more varied shoe styles for SD13 sized boys. I am tired of the endless stream of Goth boots (nothing wrong with them, I'd just like some variety) and would absolutely love a pair of classy Italian slip ons for my tall guys. In addition, I wish somebody but Dollmore would make shoes that fit my Model girls.

Someone else mentioned standardized patterns by the major pattern companies like McCall's, Simplicity etc. I would love to see that!

I am also always up for poseability improvements.

    16. More fat or at least realistic bodied dolls. Not everybody is a Vogue model.

    17. Word! Customs are horrible and in Sweden they usually grab all doll packages. Last year I paid at least 800 USD in custom fees. Really depressing, with those money I could've bought two of the minis that I long for! :...(

    18. I'm afraid that those sorts of things depend on whether it is worthwhile for someone to start stocking the dolls from different companies.

I know when I started to look into cooperating with various companies, their dealer discounts were sometimes small to say the least. Unless there is a fairly good discount then it simply isn't worth taking the company on, as once you take out all the overheads from your profit margin there is nothing left.

    19. A miracle joint that fits most single jointed dolls to make them double jointed. So I can double joint my Little Junior without wiring his entire body.

    20. I fully second that! I'd love to see a chubby boy body. Not super fat, but pudgy and cute. A body that's a little thicker - sturdier would be awesome. I'd love to have a cute chubby boy. As far as girls go, mabye not fat or chubby but more voluptuous and not twig-thin would be nice.
