1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Iffy auction?

May 5, 2007

    1. I think idisfynn has a good point, and venture-1, if you're going in to this as a potential business, I know it might take longer but perhaps it would be best to order just one first, to rest assured that it's not a scam. If you order one of each, you might stand to lose a lot of money if it turns out to be shady.

    2. I definitely want one of these dolls, especially after having seen more evidence that they are a legitimate company than evidence that they are not, but for the sake of the safety of my money and getting the doll I ordered, I will be waiting until venture-1's dolls arrive.

The fact that no one, specifically the person who claimed the dolls had been banned in Chinese forums, has come forward with the posts from these forums, is telling me that either these posts do not exist, or that it was a competing doll company or a fan of a competing doll company flaming them. It's not like that's uncommon practice.

venture-1, which dolls will you be ordering?

    3. I was just in touch with an AOD representative by email today - several times. Hotzonedolls, is NOT an authorized dealer of AOD. AOD only has 44-46cm dolls at this time. They are a new company just opening up to the international market - their official opening date is June 1st. She was NOT happy with the eBay listing by Hotzonedoll & was bringing to the attention of someone higher up in the company.

I have saved all her email correspondance if anyone is interested. They seem to have several store locations in China. They also work with a partner company for their doll clothes (sorry! I can't remember the name at this moment).

I think it is a ligit company who someone on ebay is either trying to take advantage of... I know that the eBay lister had stated that the "Ming" doll comes in both 44 & 60cm size. On DOA website, the doll is called "Dust" (per my english translation program), although "Ming" might be the correct Chinese for it. And I was assured that "Ming" does NOT come in 60cm at this time.

Hope that is helpful for everyone. It did take me awhile to locate their website - but I found the English version, which is not completed yet - then I emailed them & they sent me the link to their Chinese site.

They were very quick to respond to my questions & quite curteous. I think I will purchase a doll from them! Will let you all know how it goes!

    4. The eBay listings are very confusing. I personally wouldn't order one, but I'm curious to see what the dolls actually look like. I can't help but worry for the buyers a little...

    5. Hi Blackpaperbag,

Thank you for your concern, and you are absolutely right. This is the reason why I sent them another email after my initial order to cut it down to 2 dolls, one 1/3 Ming and one 1/4 girl of their choice. Hopefully I'll be getting them within a reasonable period.

    6. pegapup, can you please send me the emails. I definitely want to look into this.

    7. So they are a legit company but the Ebay seller is not? Good to know.

If anyone is bidding on the non-existant 60cm Ming on Ebay right now, you might want to consider retracting your bid. If AoD doesn't make any 60cm BJD, than this eBay seller is scamming, taking advantage of our lack of knowledge about a new company in China.

    8. So.. if Pegapup has been talking to someone directly from AoD that says the Ebay seller is NOT legit...

Who have LadyFeather and venture-1 been talking to who is claiming to be from AoD and saying that the Ebay seller is legit and a part of their own company?
If it is true that the Ebay seller is not legit, but that they are claiming to be legit, I wouldn't send them a dime even if I had a dime to send; that is incredibly underhanded.

How did each of you come by the email address that you have been using to contact the representative that you are talking to?

    9. I got the original email address from post 139 by Chienism. After the 3rd email to that address they said to use the one from the eBay ad.

    10. I emailed the ebay seller directly. I still think they are the company. Pepgapup says she contacted one of the reps, I think that must be one of their agents. They have three or more agents in China. If you go to their Chinese web: www.aoddoll.com, under 1/3 dolls, it stated "developing" in Chinese. AOD started with 1/4 dolls because they are more popular than the 1/3 dolls in China. They have, I believe ten 1/4 dolls and they just recently come up with two 1/3 dolls. Their are still working on updating and inputting new info on their Chinese site. If you can read Chinese, go to the top of the page and click on contact us. It'll take you to a page with four agents listed and a company address at the bottom of the page.

    11. Pegapup has me concerned, and I have just finished emailing Mr. Chang. Hopefully he can clarify the matter promptly. I will keep very one posted.

    12. i'm really glad that we're all on our toes about this matter.

I saw it and was like," hey that's an amazing deal!, but i better check and make sure first. "

      I <3 DOA :)

    13. I just got my response back. Mr. Chang is extremely upset. He wanted to know which "rep" stated this. He assured me that that he IS the manufacturer, and that he this is a very vicious lie. As soon as I hear from Pegapup and find out who this AOD rep is, I will the info to Mr. Chang. Call me naive, but I still think Mr. Chang is with Angel of Dream and they and Hotdollzone are one of the same.

    14. Ladyfeather,

Thank you so much for your pm. Believe it or not, I don't know how to reply to a pm. This forum thing is all new to me and I'm still learning.
Mr. Chang's email address is the same as what AOD gave you: [email protected]

    15. Another email from Mr. Chang. He said he is adding Ebay link to the offical AOD homepage, this should clearly indiate that they are the manufacturer.

    16. oops- screwed up reply :doh
      I'm dim....

    17. venture-1>> I was the rep who replied to pegapup regarding the dolls. There was some misunderstandings with the ebay seller, but it has been cleared up. Just tell him it was 'izumiyavi', but I think he knows about this already. >_<;;

      Here's what happened:

I had asked for permission to be AOD's agent when they started and has been granted. Up until today, I had absolutely no idea that they're actually selling them on Ebay. Then pegapup emailed me about the auctions and seeing that they listed one of the dolls as 1/3 sized, I thought that it was a fraud and informed AOD.

      It was until today that they told me they had someone selling their dolls on Ebay. ^^;;

I'm in-charge of the international website at http://www.angel-of-dream.com and it will be launching on the 1st of June. When it opens, I will be signing an agreement with AOD and they will be adding the URL to their China website.

Regarding the partner site, it is over at http://dreamberry.luvionya.com which is my own personal site where I will be selling doll items and it will be opening on this coming week.

I will be putting up better pictures of the dolls in outfits and wigs from DreamBerry. I have informed AOD about this and they're fine with me not using AOD's clothes or wigs for the pictures.

I also have a couple of good feedbacks here in DOA where I have been taking commissions for doll outfits, you may check if you wish to. ^^

    18. Man, this is a good example of how not to introduce your product to a new market. Everyone involved should be on the same page at least.

I still don't like the layout the Ebay seller has chosen. Why include pictures of Dollzone and Volks dolls when they don't sell those companies dolls or any of the items in the images. And with all the names in the world to choose from, why HotDollZone, something so close to a company that already has a following? It seems designed to confuse a buyer who has little BJD knowledge. If anyone has contact with this seller on personal or business level, I'd recommend they remove and change those elements so that they seem more legit.:sigh

    19. so, it sounds like there's a ton of misinformation and misunderstanding and a huge amount of communications issues involved. all I can say is what a MESS!
I hope someone with some good business sense actually does succeed in opening a site where we can confidently buy in english. I'll be waiting for that to happen.

izumiyavi, what's the story? are there 1/3 dolls or not? Seems like even "official" agents of AOD are not in agreement on this
also, what will be the retail price (USD) of the 1/4 dolls?

      thanks, M

    20. I'm really sorry about the misunderstandings caused! >_<

idrisfynn>> I'll see if I can talk to AOD about the ebay images. ^^;; Because I myself got really confused about it as well.

mhdolls>> 1/3 dolls will be released some time in the near future. An official announcement will be made on the international site when they are released. And as for the retail price of the 1/4 dolls, we have agreed on selling them at USD$150 excluding faceup.
