I've also heard that IS white is similar to DZ white. In turn I've seen that DZ white is close to Popo white.

 

Hmmm... I'm not sure if my IS White is similar to DZ White. I recently acquired a Dollzone doll and she is considerably whiter. Though, my Minos is very very yellow... to the point where I put him next to a IS Yellow and even the yellow looked whiter then him... I'm thinking I got a really odd batch last year (it has been a year since I ordered and in a month or so a year since received).

If I remember I'll do a comparison picture of my two when I get the dolls together and a camera in hand.


On a random note I finally finished my layaway with Alice Collections and my new Yellow Minos is coming and will be here on Thursday! I'm kind of hoping that I'll be able to put his white jointed hands on his new body... but we'll see XD.

Well, the problem is that Minos is a limited (which took FOREVER to sell apparenlty). The only one that I could find left was a yellow and a pink. Since yellow was close to what he was originally I decided with going with the Yellow. I just wish I didn't have to deal with this at all -strangles the person(s) involved-. But I got a lot of much needed things as well so... It's going to be one heck of a box opening.

I have already replaced his wig with a Leeke that is the same limited color just not the limited style. I hope that eventually Leeke will release the color again so I can get something a bit closer. And with strange luck I was able to get him with the purple eyes that the character needs. So I just need to contact the face up artist to see when she'll have an opening. I also plan on insuring that head really high because if something happens to it a SECOND time... I might just destroy something.

 

Gotcha! I'm sorry to hear all that. I don't know what IS's yellow looks like. My Minos is supper yellow too so I don't know. I remember when I opened him my first words were "wow.. he's really not white at all" lol. Atleast you will have that sculpt back. Color isn't too much to care about when you think about it that way right? I wish you well with it this time and nod in agreement about the insurance.

 

I will definitely made a few resin comparison pictures with the whites that I have acquired (and friends).

I think our list includes: DiM White, BBB White, Soom White, IS White, DZ White and I have a Leeke White coming really soon. I also will probably throw in the IS Yellow and the Dika Yellow that we have. I also have a 2 year old IS Pink... not sure how reliable he is now but I'll throw him in anyway. Goodness that's going to take a few pictures.

Yeah, the color wouldn't mean all that much in the end as long as I got the sculpt back. Though, my original idea was just to get a head not a whole new doll. But that wasn't going to happen.

I am glad I'm not the only one that did the 'oh wow' double take. This was after having a few more natural colored whites. I was thinking he was going to be GASTLY white but that's definitely not him.

 

Lol. Thanks for the comparisons by the way. I need it. I really want to know about the dollzone because it matches popo so well.

My mom just stared at me after my double take. I was like "what I expected buttermilk or creamy butter not yellow" lol. I don't mind though. I wanted him as pale as possible because I have this theory that it's easier to blush any color up to another then to try and go down.

 

Oh my GOODNESS... I just got Rhys today and... I'm officially SCARED.

So as I have told before I originally had a WHITE Minos, but because his head was stolen I had to purchase a new one. Yellow was the only one I could find quickly so I went ahead and bought the YELLOW Minos...

Well I did his box opening and compared the bodies, the YELLOW Minos is whiter then my WHITE Minos... I'll definitely have to post pictures of this because it is quiet significant. He definitely makes me question on what color my Toki is once again... I'm almost set that he will not get replacements because of how much he is yellowed and how unpredictable.

 

So your IS body is yellowing badly? Odd. My Minos is supposed to be white but he is a creamy yellow. He's pale but not yellow. I'd love to compare pics. I'm not showing any visible color changes in my boy. I've even sanded a few areas and it didn't change color.

 

I don't believe my old Minos has yellowed, at least not that badly. He hasn't been outside all that much. But when he came I instantly said 'that is very yellow'. I won't be able to take pictures till next week sometime but it is drasticly different. But I'm kinda happy about it though. I like him paler! Though now his son doesn't match all too well, but that's ok!

 

yeah I was a bit unhappy about how yellow the skin on the white is at first too. I really don't know what I will think if I find out that normal yellow is paler then white lol.

 

Pretty much what I have heard and seen is that the resin color is VERY unpredictable. My friend and I have 3 total (4 bodies). My Toki is one of the original (at least I assume) and I thought he was a yellow till I got my Old Minos whom was VERY yellow, then Kinne (the friend) got a tan Annabel that has bad sand marks along with her came a little 1/6 Xun who is yellow. He was paler then the Old Minos but darker then the New Minos. This little one has NOT seen any UV. And comparing Toki and New Minos... they look about the same color except Toki is darker but far older...

I have no clue XD. I'll just post pictures when I get them.

Another note, does anyone know the relation of DollFamily - H and Illusion Spirit. I noticed that Mint on Card adjusted their pictures for the resin colors (which MAY be my doing anyway) and it says that DollFamily -h and Illusion Spirit have the same resin colors (except white). Comparing the 1/3 sculpts of the two companies they have some similarities.

 

I noticed that too. You could always ask them. They responded really well when I asked about measurements. It may just be that they were asked about comparison and then kept the picture up?

 

I just got my YueChen, who I am guessing is not a popular sculpt, and I am loving him...but also having a problem.
He seems to be selectively strung too tight. He poses fine everywhere except for his left shoulder, which seems very tight. The wrist and elbow are fine, it's specifically the shoulder. That, and I can't seem to get his head back on! The elastic there is also very tight, so be wary that when you pull out that S-ring you may spend hours wrestling it back on.
I'm going to buy some elastic to re-string him. Does anybody have any recommendations?

Also, this could just be a me problem, but the wig I bought that should fit him refuses to, so I've made purchase of a silicone wig cap to replace the one that became garbage-disposal fodder (oops).

I'm thinking about buying one of their girls, but I'm stuck as to which one. The company photos make them all look a little...off. So I've been browsing all of your photos, instead :P

 

You don't need to get more elastic. Just restring him with the same elastic. It's an IS issue we all had. Just pay attention to where the knots are and don't untie them. Once you redestribute the elastic it will be so much better.

 

Oh good, I thought I would need new elastic. Good to know I can just do this at home! Maybe taking his head off next time won't kill me.

No good, he needs completely new elastic. Thankfully I know somewhere I can get it from.

 

What's wrong with his elastic?

 

Even with a total re-stringing, he's still wound up tighter than a clock. The elastic, in my opinion, is too thick for his makeup. He holds together a little bit better, but I'm still getting isolated tension in his torso, so I need to at least replace that elastic, perhaps it was cut a couple Cm too short.

He's quite handsome. That's odd though. My Minos loosened up quite abit after I restrung him twice. I pulled on all his joints until I was happy. Oh well I'm sorry you have to do that. I like the thick elastic though. He stands so firm hehe. Good luck with your restringing.

 

I think Illusion Spirit dolls are gorgeous! everything about them is great. I have a Cantarira, and since ive had him, i cant find another bjd that i would love more than him! hehe ><
