1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 15

Dec 23, 2020

    1. @A Wee Tiefling That's too bad as it really does look very nice on him.

I got a wig in today for a doll and I'm super pleased with it and how it looks on him. Very little danger of it being snatched away as holy cow, it's tight! It's a Soul Doll wig and they weren't kidding when they say on the site that their wigs are 8"-8.5" with almost no stretch. I almost couldn't get it on Wae-Lan's head and his head is 8 1/8". I actually had to stretch it with my hands and pop a few threads to get it on. I thought at first that they sent me a 7/8 accidentally.

    2. Oh that's a great wig for him, @A Wee Tiefling , he looks so good! Oh man, I just love his fox sweater :D

@Iron_Dog I actually have mohair scraps which I'm going to turn into a tiny's wig :D

    3. @IngieBee I made ultra tiny wigs for 2 of my tinies because ready-made wigs for them don't seem to exist (they have a 2 3/4" head). It's takes a stupidly small amount of mohair for one of them. You also need very few rows of hair unless you want them to look like an electrocuted poodle. No word of a lie, I have 3 rows of hair for their wigs (plus the part at the very top of their wigs). It sounds like that would make them half bald but they've actually got pretty decent volume to their wigs without looking like fuzz balls.

    4. LOL, sounds like mine, I need to make them for elfdoll tinies, and I think I'm going to make braids, so i better get better at parts first!

    5. Mine were for my Batchix Clever Littles. They're not perfect but they finally have wigs after owning them for several years without ones that fit them.

    6. Wig making is lots of fun. Had to make a brushed yarn wig for my modded beast Chad, because I could not find anything that was the right style or color. Ended up having to dye the yarn to get that perfect shade of dusty gray-brown. It blends into his sculpted hair rather nicely!
Lots of work, but worth it. I looped mine onto a crocheted wig cap to help get the style I needed.

    7. There's a lot of wig-making going on around here!
@IngieBee Massimo thanks you profusely! His puppy sweater? The sweater meant to fit small dogs and large rabbits?? Yeah, I love it too. It's the only thing that would fit his massive frontage.

    8. @A Wee Tiefling LOL, It's amazing what's out there to use for our dolls. I'm usually most lucky when I'm on vacation due to all the gift shops :thumbup

    9. Have yet to upload pics, but I did a big restring of my Implcrew yesterday and my god, the difference in posing is amazing! Poor Dante's hip was *upside down*, I'd goofed him up so bad. And Kitten can finally sit without slouching! Also, Dante made a new boyfriend with my friend's Dragon Doll hunk. Wow, and I thought Impls were big...

    10. Oooh, looking forward to seeing pictures :thumbup

    11. Well, here is Commander Bubblehead, looking dapper AF (this despite the coat being too small for me to raise his arms)

NSFW pic to follow. Massi and Mauro practice SSC. But observe, Mauro needs his GD wig back! Snatched!

    12. @IngieBee He's a hunk, for sure. I love his sheer presence now he's got his face upped. But I need to get some more pics of Dante and Kitten, or else they'll feel neglected.

    13. Don't let me stop you :D I LOOOOVVVVVEEEE pictures :D

    14. So rummaging through drawers I found a mohair wig. I put it on my Azalea and it looked untidy on the bottom so I just gave it a 70's hairdo. What do you think?

    15. IngieBee great solution. Untidy or tangled wigs are nightmare. I have one and I am afraid that this "cutting" upgrade will be the definitive solution for me as well. But she looks happy with short cut. Her eyes are significant. Is she on MGM body (with more joints?) ?

    16. I have a wig from Angell Studio that is... challenging. I'd originally purchased it because I loved the colours and figured it would be easy enough to at least semi-straighten out the fat sausage curls with hot water (not boiling, just extremely hot, something I've done multiple times with other wigs). Only... it didn't really take the curls out, the wig fibre is coarse and the ends are a frizzy mess. I need to suck up the courage to hack off the ends of it to try to salvage the wig but I haven't hit that mark yet. That experience though has made me give all wigs by Angell Studio the stink eye no matter how nice they may look in promo shots.

I have another wig that I ordered off ebay that, according to tracking, says "delivered to local facility" (whatever the means) that I intend to dip dye. It was supposed to be for Vasyl but I lucked out and was able to buy a wig for him that he likes from the local BJD store. I'm probably going to still dye the wig but may hold off for a bit since I don't have anybody who'd wear it now.

    17. Iron_Dog, in case of finding solution for "formerly curly now frizzy mess" cases, please share!!!. My troublemaker is SartoriaJ, primary with curls, currently FUBAR. Stored packed in silky paper, with paper insertion ... and then I put it out few months ago and it was this frizzy mess.

    18. @susana789 I'll likely cut off the end frizz as I honestly don't think there's any other way to even semi-salvage it. I didn't pay a lot for it (bought it when MoC was closing) so if I butcher it, then whatever. If I really had plans for it I'd get my DiL to cut/trim it for me as she's a hairdresser and knows what she's doing.

    19. @IngieBee She's adorable! I love that haircut, it's not dated at all but could definitely do the Disco Queen thing.
@Iron_Dog @susana789 I usually get furwigs to style so I don't feel bad messing with mohair. Though we did manage to give Dante a rockin' mohawk, as evidenced here: (also, his new "senpaii" giving him the ol' canoodle)
